Title: Old Art Stick-ons for New Tiles
Post by: Ry4Christ on January 29, 2017, 12:26:42 PM
I was thinking since Expansion 10 is going to be new art only, what if the publishers created high-quality stickers of the old art that could be placed over the new art? They could sell the stickers through Cundco. I realize they would have the costs of printing and paying the old artwork artist, but could this still be viable for them to do money-wise? Do you think they would even consider this to appease loyal fans?

Unfortunately, I highly doubt Hans im Glück will pay two artists for the same product. Let's be realistic here, classic Carcassonne is definitely gone and won't come back, ever.

It's been my experience that stickers never work on tiles, no matter how high quality they are! The best way to get the tiles is to directly print onto the tiles itself (which some people with Carcassonne Central have achieved).

You may have to join The Dark Side and buy into Carc 2!

Yes. This. I could be wrong and maybe they'll prove me so, but from what I've seen so far since the new artwork edition was released I don't think HiG are losing much sleep over the fans who feel let down by the new direction...

Yes, I know you're almost certainly correct the old art is gone for good, but I guess I'll always hold onto the tiniest bit of hope they might release something small in the future. They did pay both artists for the Labyrinth, but I realize that was only one tile.
