The Marketplace / WTB GQ Expansion (2006)

Hi team, as above. Ideally UK/EUR source to keep postage costs down. If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks for your time.

The Marketplace / [WTB/T] Unicorns

Hi team,

Anyone interested in taking their unicorns to market on this fine Black Fri(day/night)? CC1, CSC, Russians, Spiels, (BGS 9.5 Gem Mint Black Lotus) etc. Let me know! God I love this game.

Thanks mate, I'll look into it. I might just e-mail them just to confirm (return shipping from Aus is brutal) but yeah it does appear to be 10th Anniversary and shipping to most places. If so, it's saved me about $20!

Hey thanks Meepledrone. I saw this and was hesitant; I don't really like the idea of paying as much for Das Fest as I did for Die Pest! But I guess it won't be getting any cheaper, given it's old art... I've been able to source all the rest on here so I can't be too upset. This community is really helpful, even for someone like me who is barely involved. It's awesome.

Hey thanks for the tip. I did see this but was hoping maybe someone had a few to ship together as, yeah, Australia really sucks for post. I'll have another sweep of eBay and any locals.

Hi team,

I've avoided buying these for various reasons in the past: non-essential; inconsistent; offering little to the overall game. Whatever it was, my crippling completionist compulsion (try say that after a few beers) now tells me to track them down. I believe many of these are now quite hard to acquire, but perhaps not yet in the realm of Die Kornkreise I... Any suggestions here would be great as this community has been really helpful in past acquisitions.

Regards,

Carcassonne: The Festival (2013)
Carcassonne: German Monasteries (2014)... maybe Dutch Monasteries, too

News and Events / Re: Carcassonne Special limited edition
« on: May 30, 2018, 01:57:36 AM »
I think dirk2112 said it best on your Completionism post; something something cancer analogy. This Carcassonne special edition is enough to make a cat laugh. And, you know, I would've been almost OK with purchasing had it been a re-release of the entire Carcassonne "alte kunst" collection to date. That would've been pretty enchanting. But as it stands, the base game alone isn't enough to move me. Has anyone yet brought up that this could've been a KS? I know a lot of people associate KS with small distributor/publisher outfits trying to make some cash (or at least break even) but this could've been an absolutely wild KS. I can imagine the pledge unlocks would've been channelled along the ascension of rarity, starting with basic expansions and crescendoing through Die Katharer, Die Belagerer, and Kornkreise etc. with a bunch of cool adds/mods unique to the KS. Either way I'd be pissed, given how much gold I've thrown at this obsession over such a short yawn of time... just to see it devalued with a complete and unabridged release of Carcassonne. Not that I intend to sell my set, but it's always good to look after it.

On that note, does anyone ever worry that HiG/Cundco will re-release some day? Effectively rendering a hard-won Kornkreise to as a common a tile as the base game starter. Not that it's at all a bad thing given the stultifying supply/demand at the moment, but after only recently (over)spending on some of the usual suspects it is something I think about haha

Good thinking. Also, Foggy-Balla, you "fixed" my portmanteau when you quoted me!

"[...] commissioned to design a piece that would celebrate 20 years of its Unesco status." And what better way to celebrate it than deface it. I'm a town planner working almost exclusively in heritage tier constructs and let me tell you that, at least in the UK, a lot of these local Councils can barely scrape together the funds to keep them in a state of bare minimum upkeep. Cite de Carcassonne would be no exception. Instead of the 10k€ being pledged to some form of maintenance, it gets diverted to funding this * atrocity. By the way, just to amplify injury, this was only ever anticipated to be temporary. Which is how it should be, but what a brutish waste of money...

This "artrocity" is set to come down later in the year; September, 2018.

The Marketplace / [WTT] Die Pest for...
« on: May 20, 2018, 11:52:19 PM »
Hi team,

Ended up getting my hands on one too many Die Pest and so thought I'd try fill gaps in my set (once I've completed it, I promise I'll be more philanthropic with my double-ups!). I'd love to swap it for a Die Katharer or Der Tunnel but understand this wishful thought might well be in require of divine intervention. More reasonably, any of the below would be sufficient to a like value. Please also find my unsolicited opinion about them. Other than the usual suspects (top two), the others are all my least favourite so I've neglected to acquire them until now. Thanks.

> Die Katharer (really nice concept; presumably complimentary of Die Belagerers, although having both active might imbalance the game)
> Der Tunnel (cool idea in theory but not sure how it plays out; one utilitarian downside is the limiting of players to 6)

> Halb so Wild I (nice concept but wear and tear is much more prolific through these tiles due to the more pointed cornering)
> Halb so Wild II (nice concept but wear and tear is much more prolific through these tiles due to the more pointed cornering II)
> Die Windrosen I (meh I)
> Die Windrosen II (meh II)
> Das Fest (one of the most ugly/pointless alte kunst extensions)
> De Katapult (definitely the most cavalier expansion, why anyone would actively play this is beyond me)

The Marketplace / Re: Ordering Replacement tiles from Cundco
« on: May 19, 2018, 08:16:09 PM »
Just an update. I've since committed about 3 separate orders from Cundco with only one slight mistake which they happily fixed in the following shipment. The letters/parcels also arrive quite fast. I'm not sure why, but pretty much everything coming from Germany (to Australia) is BY FAR the fastest and cheapest. And this was just for standard Deutsche Post Brief. Really impressed.

Thanks for all the support, it is appreciated. Have been able to source Die Pest fairly reasonably with a few other gap minis (Die Windrosen II; Der Graf; Kathedralen Deutschland etc.) I didn't previously own. I'm blown away by all the offers of help as well as the impressive completionist collections I've seen from all your profiles. I've tried to respond back to all of you in the community who posted here or PMd me. Ended up taking up Mr Meeple on his offer as all the purchases I made ended up being in Germany with mostly nation-only conditions of shipment. For Die Pest I think I paid about 20€, which was excellent given the last month they've all fetched at least double and triple that. I also felt justified monetarily in that Der Fluss II and III cost me about the same. However, I think Die Belagerers and/or Die Katharer are a little beyond me at the moment and would degrade my sanity had I paid 80€ for six (6) tiles. I just can't quite reason with its state of rarity, yet I respect the market nonetheless.

Hopefully some benevolent knight will offer up his/her Carcassonne estate some day! Anyway, thanks for helping me get closer to that illusory 100% Carcassonne collection.

/Peace

The Marketplace / Australian looking for a European post-forwarder
« on: May 15, 2018, 07:22:31 AM »
Hi mates,

I'm very new to this beautiful obsession and am down to the last few rares for collection (Die Pest, Die Belagerer etc.). Unfortunately I live in Australia (for flat-earthers, this is known as "The End of the World") and most sales seem to be occurring in Europe where postage is almost free. Getting stuff individually sent down here is obscenely expensive (on top of those rares already being so expensive) and so I was wondering if anyone on here might be able to help me save a few dollars (euros) by post forwarding. I have a few purchases I want to consolidate into one shipment but need a temporary hub somewhere (preferably Germany or UK) as these sellers don't ship internationally. I've already checked out commercial post forwarding and the cost:benefit is not really justifiable for something as small as boardgame parts. Not sure how it would work as trust with strangers would be a big part of it but definitely welcoming any suggestions.

Regards,
