The Settlers of Catan are with the Enterprise on the StarTrek.

Carcassonne will go to the sky with StarWars.

Perhaps the meeple will come in the design from meeplesource...

Question:

Is there a new movie with StarWars this year?

Yes, it comes out in December.
A knight is sworn to valour.
His heart knows only virtue.
His blade defends the helpless.
His might upholds the weak.
His word speaks only truth.
His wrath undoes the wicked.

I am completely neutral to Stars Wars (I even didn't saw 1, 2 and 3 episodes), so I am not the target audience :D

I wouldn't be surprised to learn that this is the official spin-off for 2015. We had the Winter Edition in 2012, South Seas in 2013, and Gold Rush in 2014. They are on a pattern now of one spin-off a year (not counting Carc II). Each has also had a small promo expansion, Gingerbread Man, Friday, and the Sheriff respectively. If Star Wars does replaced the "Around the World" game for the year, I wonder if it will also have a small expansion with it. I admit, though I don't like the branding, I am interested to see how space will work in Carcassonne. Except for the roads (presumably hyperspace routes), it kind of makes sense since the borders aren't a huge issue at all.

Okay, I'm a little ashamed to admit that I'll totally buy this.

And maybe there will be a Hoth version for the Winter Edition and a Tattoine version as an Ark of the Covenant.

Oh, and an Endor version for Hunters and Gatherers!

I don't expect this is the Around the World for 2015, because it takes place in a galaxy far, far away... and because the Around the World logo is not on the box. It's also much too early to be announcing an end-of-year release. I would expect to see this sooner. May 4 would be an obvious choice for release date.

Carcassonne StarWars is really not a part of the "Around the World" series.

In an interview at the podcast "Bretterwisser" told Dirk Geilenkeuser (HiG) that the next "Around the World" project will take place in the area of the "Amazonas".

I've tested a prototype of "Amazonas" - I have to say: there will be much work to do, this needs many more play testing...

Awesome! So Around the World will go on...and on...and on...and on... okay I'm done.

I think if they ever re-release New World/Mayflower, that spin-off should be retroactively made into an Around the World game. It just makes sense. It follows all the standard formula for Around the World, it has unique artwork, it's history-based, and it just feels like a part of that series. I don't get the same vibe with Discovery, Castle, City, Kids, or even Ark of the Convenant. Those all feel more like canon Carc games, but New World/Mayflower just feels different.

Anyway, here's the list of stand-alone Carcassonne products released since 2000:
Carcassonne (2000)
Hunters & Gatherers (2002)
The Castle (2003)
Ark of the Covenant (2003)
The City (2004)
The Discovery (2005)
Travel Carcassonne (2007)
New World/Mayflower (2008)
Kids/My First Carcassonne (2009)
Wheel of Fortune (2009)
Cardcassonne (2010)
The Dice Game (2011)
Winter-Edition (2012)
Around the World #1: South Seas (2013)
Carcassonne II (2014)
Around the World #2: Gold Rush (2014)
Star Wars (2015)
Around the World #3: [Amazon] (Future)

What strikes me as surprising is that only 2001 and 2006 didn't have spin-offs and the first of those dates makes perfect sense because the game had just released and had not yet achieved worldwide fame. I'm not sure what happened in 2006, but apparently a Carcassonne spin-off was not on the agenda. They've more than made up for it, in any case: 2003, 2009, 2014, and 2015 all have had (or will have) two releases. Crazy! This game is apparently just becoming more popular.

Hi whaleyland,
thanks for your list, but as I've written before - Amazonas needs much work - the release wouldn't come this year.

Well your statement didn't necessary lead to that conclusion, but still good to know. I've corrected the list above. Also, check out the BGG series page for Carcassonne. I just updated it with all the stuff from last year and it's looking pretty good. And if Star Wars is the only Carcassonne thing to release this year, that's still good enough for me.
