The messages - Looking for best practice in score tracking
« on: September 29, 2013, 09:41:51 AM »
Hello all

When playing with Dispatches with only 2 or 3 players, your scoring figures will most likely go around the scoring board more than once (actually more than twice), anyone with a good idea to keep track of the scoring between the two figures (regular follower and woman follower) apart?
Thanks

you score point an amount of points at a time.
es:
you place a tile that close a city of 2 tiles and a cloister... you should score a total of 13 VP but in reality are 4 VP (the city) and 9 VP (the cloister), so u can:
move first for the 4 with normal meeple, then for 9 with the messenger
move first for the 4 with the messenger, then for 9 with the normal meeple
move first for the 9 with normal meeple, then for 4 with the messenger
move first for the 9 with the messenger, then for 4 with normal meeple
move first for the 4 with normal meeple, then again for 9 with normal meeple
move first for the 4 wit the messenger, then again for 9 with the messenger
move first for the 9 with normal meeple, then again for 4 with normal meeple
move first for the 9 wit the messenger, then again for 4 with the messenger
...u are the one who decide wich point u can get first and wich follower move on the scoreboard!

obviously the choise depends by where are the blak points on the scoreboard...

As usual, when some of the followers crosses zero, we bring in/turn around 50/100 tile. We do it every time, when any follower crosses zero point. At the end of the game, we add one's points to another's and continue scoring unfinished objects and fields.

When we play we only use one meeple. You'd be surprised how many times you still end up on a dark area off the scoreboard.
Last we played, for example, in a three player game we had over 30 mails opening.  :meeple: This was just one game, though, so it remains to be seen if it was just a fluke.
World record holder for a single game of Carcassonne using 10 007 tiles!

I bought a set of opaque d10's to keep track of scoreboard laps:

I'd be inclined to replace the messengers with a set of speckled d10's:

Or transluscent, but there are fewer colors to choose from:
