Thanks very much but I'm afraid my knowledge of extensions is pretty poor. Given the constraints, you can leave me off the starting list. I'll set my sights on the 2016 World Cup!

That's a shame. Especially after the game we had on Sunday evening! I won't try to persuade you otherwise, but I will say the complexity of the expansions used in the group stage wouldn't be too much for someone such as yourself to deal with even if you only play a handful of games again an AI opponent beforehand. Up to you.

Okay, you have persuaded me! I'll give it a go. I tried the AI. Feels very busy compared to the basic game with all those new tiles. I'm afraid I still have those dates that I can't play though. I'll be here and there's not much Internet:-

Ah, I forgot... I can start to play from 10 september! First I'm for holyday in Corsica, then back to my mom in Naples, then return in Bruxelles to start my normal life again! It's a problem?

Well, it's not ideal but I don't suppose it will be a problem as long as you don't mind playing catch-up when you get back!

To all who are concerned about some of the expansions:

Prior to the announcement here, I had never used the King and Robber Baron expansion. I don't own the physical expansion yet.

Just had a quick look at the rules, and it is very simple! JCZ handles all the details, so it really won't impact on your game play, beyond encouraging players to build longer roads and larger (more tiles) cities.

There are only five new tiles, and those tiles are nothing weird or obnoxious. Very good additions to the tiles available.

Not a reason to hold back from joining the competition!!

Yes exactly, thanks rfielder!

There are no special rules for King & Robber Baron other than that the person who completes/ closes/ finishes the longest road (in terms of number of tiles) gets 1 bonus point for every completed road on the final map, and the player who completes/ closes/ finishes the largest city (in terms of number of tiles) gets 1 bonus point for every completed city. This can be quite a worthwhile bonus, especially if you end up with both, so it's well worth thinking about during the game (especially large games).

The tiles themselves are pretty interesting too, which is part of the reason they were included at this stage of the competition.
