What's next
« on: December 21, 2014, 11:58:34 PM »
2014 is nearly over and it was a great year to collect Carcassonne (2 core boxes, 1 expansion and plenty on mini expansions). And i hope 2015 will be as good

The things i expect for this new year

- the first expansion for Carcassonne 2 with the 6th player and exclusive material addition (like the abbot from the new basic game)
- a new spielbox expansion
- other monasteries series (french of course, english, spanish...)
- the Carcassonne around the world •3 and its Essen expansion

And you, what are you waiting for Carcassonne?

Fun topic, thanks for starting it.

While it's not really new or creative anymore, I am really hoping to see more country monasteries (especially from Spain/France/Italy). I love travel and history and I'm especially interested in the three countries above because I study their languages and I like their culture, food etc, so I visit them as often as possible (e.g. Spain last weekend, France this week).

Beyond this, I think we're all waiting to see whether old art or new art (or both) is the future of the game, so I think many of us hope that is resolved in 2015. Since I prefer the old art, I'd love to see another old art expansion aside from the monasteries that shows a commitment to its continuation.

I think HiG could tell us about the robbers behind the bushes in the Carcassonne II Edition (probably something for the roads similar to the pennants in cities), also the big farmhouses and stables in the fields. They only had to unlock these goodies, I think.

I expect that there will be a 10th expansion for carcassonne and lots of new mini's
maybe a compilation expansion for some rare mini's ones (which still can be obtainable -spielbox)

Another thing I'd like to see is an expansion for the Winter Edition based on the extra animal tiles.

I would like to see another 2 player stand alone game. Maybe a variation of the excellent game The Castle.

As I am a huge fan of mega-Car I would also love more expansion for the classic Car. But with all the creative fan-made expansions I think it will be hard to invent something fresh. I think HiG’s new bet will be, regrettably, with the new artwork.  :(

Hold on, I just received the Castle in the post today! I need to play this a few times first before they bring out another one :)

My money is on : "Carpenters and Masons" - two important medieval trades we've not seen yet.

And let me add one more expansion I'd like to see in 2015: the Falcon Expansion for Carcassonne: the Castle.

I'm betting on Inns & Cathedrals and Traders & Builders in the new art. Not that I'm looking forward to that, just guessing.
I just drew the perfect tile for my MonKnighThieFarmer!

Seems like a safe bet. Maybe a Big Box with some other things in the new art too?

I reckon they'll re-release expansions with half of the tiles with new art and half with old: "you can mix and match old and new, remember!" ;)

Having just picked up a German version of the Castle for a good price, I'd also like to see something for the Castle... or something in a similar vein.

Undoubtly they will release some of the more successful previous expansion anew, like The Catapult.  ;)

I also believe that some of the tiles will be changed to cover more combinations, though I hope the roads stays more linear. The 2x curved roads on a tile, for example, has always been useless when we played with it, i.e. adding nothing new and sometimes it even hinders you to complete a road.
World record holder for a single game of Carcassonne using 10 007 tiles!
