As you probably already know the very kind folks at Meeple Source are running a new Kickstarter and have offered to help design a Meeple Mascot for Carcassonne Central!

I've collected most of the ideas we've had so far to produce our first MeepleSource Mascot Poll - What theme should the mascot take?

I have not set a end date for the poll, but results will most likely be collected on Wednesday.

Btw, should the last one be super hero and not super here?

Yep, I'm trying to use a broad brush by saying 'abstract' which would include your suggestion of a Double-CarcC and Halfling's suggestion of a multi-coloured meeple, I had considered it a separate entry, but we can determine the fine details later.

For now, I'm trying to grasp a broad theme to give direction - we'll be polling for details later on

There's two similar votes on the poll at the moment, and I thought it would help to clarify - you're welcome to change your vote too.

3) It should be a solely a Knight, Thief, Monk or Farmer
4) It should be a mixture of all 4 of the above.

Voting for #3 would imply the final meeple would be represented as a Knight, or a Thief, or a Monk or a Famer - not a combination of these follower types.

Voting for #4 would be a mixture of these Follower Types - a bit like Dan suggested on the original forum post, a hybrid of all 4 (or more than one).

I've been out for a bit and just saw this thing. What a fun idea! I've got an idea that could work: how about a CarcassonneCentral King or Robber Baron. These could be used on the scoreboard when playing with King & Robber Baron to track the sizes of Cities and Roads, respectively. Just an idea.

I think the king should be a Big Follower with a crown, and on his chest should be a coat of arms with the CC logo on it (and maybe a much smaller version on his crown). The art should mimic the art from the box for Count, King & Cult.

For the Robber Baron, it should be a Large Robber figure (from the CarcMini expansion), maybe even one painted like one of the robbers from the original box covers (although that version may look a bit too Arabic). The bag of money the Robber Baron has in one arm should have the CC on it as a coat of arms (showing he is stealing from the king).

I really like this idea, though I'm not sure them being CarcC's mascots. I like the idea the mascot could be used in an expansion!

I think, given MeepleSource has offered to help us design 'a' mascot rather than 'two', it would be better to suggest these 2 Meeple in MeepleSource's Vote on the main thread. They are collecting ideas for their Kickstarter.

I could see people buying these in a pack with wooden trade goods for example.

This poll's been running a few days now and it looks like the highest number of votes is for a meeple which represents either a knight, or a thief, or a monk or a farmer. Close behind is a Meeple that is a mixture of 4 follower types.

I quite like the idea of a super meeple that represents all 4 classes and that could double as an expansion with rules along the lines of:

When placed the 'CC super meeple' claims all unclaimed features on the tile he is deployed to

Not quite sure how to vote to represent that though

I bought a King and a Robber from Meeplesource a couple of years ago for exactly the reasons you stated. They make it easier to keep track of the largest City and Road so far in the game.

Good to know. I just noticed that they have them. Not quite ones that match Carcassonne perfectly or anything, but it's a start. I think I'd honestly prefer an unpainted meeple that just has a unique colour and design to represent both. Like a golden king (the meeplesource version minus the paint) and a...hmm, not sure what colour robber (large version of the current Robber from the Mini).

It looks like a mixture of all 4 has taken the lead with 6 votes vs 5. I'm going to keep the poll running a little longer to give each vote the best chance it can.

Thanks for the great photos Kettlefish - it's hard to know what the final meeple might look like. I think one of the main reasons for not having a mascot is none of us are particularly artistic; but at the moment I'm trying to pick a theme to work with.

If anyone feels they can draw sufficiently, I'd love to see what your ideas might be.
