3 player 303 tiles game.
« on: September 13, 2014, 11:12:59 AM »
Soo, today i was able to finally play with a lot of the tiles i have, for the first time i played with double expansions and the wheel of fortune and sheeps in a mega game.

We started at 15:00 setting the whole game up:

The setup:

- Base game 71 tiles
- Base game WoF 72 Tiles
- 2 x Inns 36 Tiles
- River I,II,III 36 Tiles
- The Count
- WoF expansion 12 Tiles
- Sheeps & Hills 18 tiles
- Flyers, ferries, witch 24 tiles
- Abbey and Mayor 12 tiles
- King and scout tiles 5 tiles
- shrines and heretics 5 tiles
- The german cloisters 6 tiles
- crop circles II 6 tiles

We didnt want the dragon tiles in it, because when the game gets huge you walk to nowhere with the dragon.
we also choose not to add the messengers, robbers because of the confusion with the points.. (dislike to have so many meeples on the scoreboard)
The 2 Traders and builders and the goldmines we didnt play just because we didnt want to much tiles.

The Followers

Each player had:
- 2 big followers
- 2 builders
- 1 wagon
- 1 shepherd
- 1 mayor
- 1 abbeytile

we choose to add 4 extra followers because when we play with german cloisters and wheel of fortune you loose so many followers..
the 2 builders can never be in 1 city, each has them own plans, so they would argue all the time.

The game

at 15:20 finally the game was ready
we started with the WoF tile and next to it the carcassonnecity..
3 rivers then were put down.

the game then slowly got forward, at some points my little brothers were fighting over a farm of 19 cities both lost 3 farmers with it. The youngest finally got another 1 into the farm winning the farm.

I was black, the middle bro was green and the youngest red.
As you can see in the picture we were fighting over an 42 point city. and they both almost stole it at the last moment. the Youngest then put down an Hill to claim the city.. but, i draw the one tile i needed and keeping the city for myself.

in the end. i ended up with no big farm, the youngest with the 19 city farm and with 3 german cloisters.
I also ended up with 3 of those, but mine got more points..

I had 564 points,
the middle one got 414 points
and the youngest had 506 points.. but he had the 19 city farm. and with that he had 563 points..
making me the winner with 1 point.

we ended at 18:45

Sounds like 4 hours of time well spent   :).

I would be interested to know how much the count expansion mechanisim was used in the game.

That is not needed.

Please look in the rule book and at the Wheel of Fortune start tile.

yes that are crowns.

What I meant is the page 19 rule book - the picture of the Wheel-of-Fortune start tile and the real start tile of the Wheel of Fortune.

Hmm, good find, the knight has 3 coins above his head while in the rule book you see a bag

Sounds like an awesome game!

How did you find Meeple management? You played with a lot more meeples than we normally play with so I was wondering how it played... Did you always have some Meeples in your supply or did you find yourself having to be careful?

 :black-meeple:

well it actually went pretty great. because the amount of tiles it felt like a smaller game. at some points we really run out of them or had to be careful. we then didnt took every road or monestary.
also we had to be very careful with the placement on the wheel. in the beginning it was full. but in the half of the game it was totally empty.

i think we had 1 meeple to much

Great report, and a really interesting selection of expansions too! Well-deserved merit for you...  :(y)

I see you included King & Robber Baron. Did you count up all the complete cities and roads afterwards for whoever won the King/ Robber Baron tiles or did you just decide on a set number of points before you began? I think trying to count them all may have added an hour or so to the game time!

Thank you:), after we counted the unbelievable amount of roads we decided we always give 10 points to the king and robber Baron:)
