Title: Do you trust on this site?
Post by: MeepleFan on June 17, 2019, 09:15:14 AM
Hi everybody!  ;D

This is my first topic, and it's about a new site I've discovered, where many Carcassonne expansions appears (like The Cathars) with a very low price comparing with the marketplace.

That's the web: https://series.godoggroom.com/index.php?main_page=advanced_search_result&search_in_description=1&keyword=carcassonne

Do you trust on this site? Anyone have bought here? Thnks.

Hi MeepleFan,

Your first post is most welcome.

I've been having a look at the site you mention and it seems rather dubious: No matter what product you pick all the final prices are around the $30 mark and the original price are around 4 to 4.5 times that amount.

I tried to find some info on the company behind the site but it is rather blurry and if you google the site there is no trace of it. It is also weird that the customer service email top left (cs15@customerservicehome.com) belongs to another domain as shady as godoggroom.com.

You can check some info on the site here (one of the few results on Google by the way when searching for the site):

https://godoggroom.com.cutestat.com/ (https://godoggroom.com.cutestat.com/)

Compare it with the info on Appel or Amazon and you can see a big difference:

http://amazon.com.cutestat.com/ (http://amazon.com.cutestat.com/)
http://apple.com.cutestat.com/ (http://apple.com.cutestat.com/)

Doing a few searches I found some products pages at godoggroom.com that are a rip-off of offers on Ebay (with fake pices and stock). You can check the descriptions, the product pictures (BTW they are taken directly from Ebay) and the use condition in the following examples:

>> Example 1: Carcassonne Strategy With The Festival & Princess And Dragon Rio Grande Games

https://series.godoggroom.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_2_3_4&products_id=31132 (https://series.godoggroom.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_2_3_4&products_id=31132)
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Carcassonne-Strategy-With-The-Festival-Princess-And-Dragon-Rio-Grande-Games-/163630345002 (https://www.ebay.com/itm/Carcassonne-Strategy-With-The-Festival-Princess-And-Dragon-Rio-Grande-Games-/163630345002)

>> Example 2: Yu-Gi-Oh Cyberse Quantum Dragon SAST-JP038 20th Secret Rare Japanese Yugioh

https://series.godoggroom.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_111_122_123&products_id=21343 (https://series.godoggroom.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_111_122_123&products_id=21343)
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Yu-Gi-Oh-Cyberse-Quantum-Dragon-SAST-JP038-20th-Secret-Rare-Japanese-Yugioh-/283212119148 (https://www.ebay.com/itm/Yu-Gi-Oh-Cyberse-Quantum-Dragon-SAST-JP038-20th-Secret-Rare-Japanese-Yugioh-/283212119148)

I'm rather  it not a reliable site.

Cheers!

Thank you very much for your fast replies.

Logically, the stock and the prices without discount are very suspicious, but now that you have discovered there is a copy-paste of Ebay Ads, I directly dismiss it as a trusted website. The Internet is full of cheats...

Welcome to the forums!

A general rule of thumb (this thumb ---> :(n)) is that if it seems too good to be true it usually is! Most people aren't as dumb as they like to think we are, and if they're selling something for significantly less than it might go for on eBay then the chances are that they already know this and would otherwise be selling on eBay if they were able to.

Should the same be said of Amazon? ;)

That's an exception. We talking about UNKNOWN websites. Maybe I should be more specific. Hahaha
Probably more safety sites of very common companies there have not paypal. But PayPal is security and an important point to trust in an UNKNOWN website.
Everybody knows that Amazon has his payment system similar to PayPal, 'Amazon pay'. The 'competitor' of PayPal. But PayPal extends around almost everything in internet and Amazon doesn't. But that is another question.... XD

That bit made me laugh out loud (at work). At least they acknowledge that there are exactly 4 better places to never get customer service.
