Scott is from Canada and he bought some parts from CundCo.
Loki perhaps you have to read the text and please tell us here no lies.

The Marketplace / Does Cundco do shipping to Canada?
« on: September 12, 2015, 03:42:02 PM »
I was looking through the Cundco site and under user registration , where you are supposed to select your country,  I realized that Canada was not listed.

Was it something we said??

Well, I think, it's a little bit of musing over spilled milk. But probably, what was suggested by whaleyland and Paul, would have been the best way of addressing this problem: adding A&M completely (all wood, all tiles) to BB5, probably even with 2 extra Abbeys. Because I can't do anything then repeat myself: adding just the 2 extra colours of Mayors, Wagons and Barns would have been really awkward.

You are correct, I am losing absolutely no sleep over this, just shaking my head a little and it gives me something to complain about.

What about the femeeples and robbers?

To be honest I do not have a high opinion of any of the mini expansions though I do agree that for completeness those meeples should be included but the Abbey and Mayor ones are essential.

The fact that the additional colours for the mayor barn and wagon actually have been produced and cundco are selling them just makes it more annoying

There are plenty of issues with Carcassonne relating to how all of the expansions work together, the S-CAR has done an an excellent job of attempting (and mostly succeeding) to resolve them.  The pressing issue of how to accommodate a 7th & 8th player is not one of them, in fact most of the comments I have seen on this website suggest that too many players can spoil the game as all of turns take too long to complete.  The preferred suggestion seems to be that it is best to split into 2 groups of 3-4 and play separate games.

So why after 15 years they find the need to include 2 new colours is beyond me.   But to add only some of Meeples in new colours but not all just seems silly.  The could have included pink and purple for the other Meeples and included a suggestion that this was to accommodate the players who already had Abbey and Mayor or new players who may wish to purchase this expansion at a later date.  Of course the fact that they are also discontinuing the Abbey and Mayor expansion is unfortunate.

HiG must be aware of the large number of dedicated players who consider that collecting a “complete set” of everything is part of the game's attraction.  So to put this deliberate “hole” in everyone's Meeple collection is just perverse.  :(n) :(n)

Since Dan  split this topic off into a separate Big Box thread I thought I would take the opportunity to repeat my main issue with big box 5.  I think that adding the 7 & 8th  colours but not including the wagon, mayor and barn Meeples was a cheap move.      >:(

Like most players I keep my tiles separated by expansion but I see no issue with playing the Mayor, Barn  or wagon even if I am not playing the Abbey and Mayor tiles.  I can perhaps understand why phantoms were not released in pink and purple as a production run in translucent acrylic may have been too expensive but a coat of the right paint for the wooden Meeples  should not have been a problem.  Including the rules for the extra Meeples would have been a minor issue.

Has anyone tried repainting spare wagons, barns and mayors in the new colours.

Thanks for the responses, I will probably try and get a Chessex or UGG Counter tray though I would prefer a more sturdy material.  The Chessex tray has flat sloping sides to make it easier to slide tokens out - we will see how that works out.   :-\

My own expansions do rely rather heavily on tokens to facilitate end game scoring.   :'(

It's only the completionist sickos like us who would consider buying an entire Big Box just for a slightly different set of tiles that we already have! :o

It sounds like you are trying to shame the obsessive compulsives  -tsk tsk - surely we deserve the same understanding and compassion as all those other people who "have issues"   :-[ :-[

Buying a big box for a few extra tiles is nothing... In a few weeks I'll show you crazy compulsive purchase, and yes, what I have bought so far is nothing compared to what's coming.

 >:D

I have an awful sinking feeling that Paul is going to go all Victor Kiam on us   :'( :'(

Quote from wkipedia

After attending Yale University, the Sorbonne and Harvard Business School, Kiam worked for Lever Brothers and Playtex as a salesperson. He first made his fortune as the President and CEO of Remington Products, which he famously purchased after his wife bought him his first electric shaver. Kiam became famous as the spokesperson for the Remington shaver. Kiam's famous catchphrase, "I liked the shaver so much, I bought the company", made him a household name. He recorded each advertisement in the native language for the country in which it was broadcast. In the UK he became a celebrity appearing on TV chat shows including 'Wogan', 'The Tube' and David Frost's 'Through the Keyhole'.

Somehow i find it strange that there are 5 boxes with more then 60% the same content.

Looking back now at all five, it is a bit strange. But each big box is meant to 'replace' the previous one, not compliment it, i.e. a customer is only supposed to ever buy one big box. But then they went and put exclusive stuff into BB5 to completely go against that idea.

hate to be cynical but by this point in time they (HIG / Z-MAN) knew that the game releases had run their course and that creatively the game was at end-of-life and that including the Wheel of Fortune was a last chance way to attract people who already had most the game expansions rather than just new players.   ::)

big box 5 is the only one still available from z-man games, they have just re-printed it.

Abbey and Mayor can still be bought here and there and since BB5 has its own river then the river II from the King Count and robber is not quite so essential.

I've been thinking about this recently too. I'm considering getting duplicate copies of the base game and some of the main expansions in the old artwork while I still can just in case anything happens to my existing tiles.

It is a pity that Big Box 5 does not contain Abbey and Mayor then it would have made up what I consider to be the core set of must have Carcassonne.

JCloisterZone FAQ, Suggestions & Bug Reports / Re: winter edition artwork
« on: September 10, 2015, 03:22:36 PM »
Farin

thanks but I found that my scanner handles the colour balance on the snow on the winter tiles much better than the regular Carcassonne green fields.

I also realized that if you scan the tiles while they are still in sheet format it works much better for getting them properly aligned.   I bought a second copy of winter to get the appropriate tile backs.

Making your own custom tiles is good business for HiG as you either have to send away for blank tiles or buy duplicate sets.

Anyway you look at it, it is a ton of fun.

again thanks for your response.   :(y)

Yes the login registration is very straightforward (and doesn't ask any obscure skill testing Carcassonne related questions).

Who knew that sites like this existed that would make up your games and print them on heavy duty cardboard - very nice.

For some reason the hexagonal tiles seem to add that extra level of sophistication to any game.

I voted for the sheep game as it seemed to be more straightforward and easier to grasp
