Welcome to the group stage of the 2017 World Cup of Carcassonne Central! This thread is primarily for members of Group D to arrange matches between themselves and post scores, screenshots and the obligatory smack-talk as the group progresses. The top 2 players from this group once everyone in the group has played all 5 of their matches will advance through to the knockout stage.

Had a quick look at the rules, and then a look at Slack. Was there an account name published for this?
I am available Wed through Fri evenings from about 4:00PM EST. Unfortunately, at this time of the year, there are a LOT of things happening, so weekend availability is intermittent.

Hounk and I started the first game in this pool and I was nervous as this was my first match in JCZ.
It was a really interesting game, as I took first the big farm with 3 farmers. But Hounk had put in 2 more :green-meeple: :green-meeple: and I was really losing the farm(He had :green-meeple: :green-meeple: :green-meeple: :green-meeple: :green-meeple:).
Also at that same time I was trying to complete my big city, but then a Pope came by and decided to put a cathedral into my city.
At that time the points were around the ~ 55 ~ for both.
I thought the only way I peer with Hounk is tho finish that city for the Pope. So I jumped in and ordered some more builder meeples to help me complete it ::).
But that was not enoug, Hounk owned the big farm and I was in no way to get to there.
So I started to try to take some other little farms, as I didn't had the chance to take some big projects.
After that Hounk connected thought that connecting the big farm with one of my small farms, would me give a lose on a little farm (2 cities). With 6 tiles left it is not that easy to get another farmer on that big farm. So I was now thinking to make the farm equal again.
So started the fight again around that big farm and I was very lucky to get to good tiles, wich granted an equal farm.
With that we came to a score of 228 Hounk and 241 Sinscerly.

It was actually not even accidentially. I just felt too save with only 6 tiles left, that you would not get another farmer onto the farm and connected to neglect you the 6 points. It was an oversight, that you actually have another option to place a meeple and connect. But a well deserved victory for you it was regardless.

First match vs Hounk. It was again all about the main farm. The huge city on the left was a draw to my favour as i used the last but one tile

Second match vs sinscerly.
In midgame i thought i'm safe but then sins took his big meeple back with festival tile :(n) and joined the main farm.
So i used a very risky farm attempt. Fail :(n)
But last tile gave me a Inn so i could finish my road

Not sure, what you mean by that, because the one but last tile was placed by me? Of course by far not enough to turn the table, but the best I could do in this situation, not only scoring 6 points from farming the big city and 3 from another one, also removing 5 points from your final score by leaving you with an unfinished but besieged city.
True, I did finish the tied city, which could have been considered loosing a turn. But it gave me additionally 4 points from a short road with inn, and I was in bigger need of getting my meeples back at that point in the game, so it was worthwhile for me then. Still, it was a game, where I had been all the time in defence and running behind, while you scored some nice features yourself and sneaked in everything from me quite easily, so the game looked quite to your favour from early on. You had quite obviously been the better player, so no arguing about that.

Not sure, what you mean by that, because the one but last tile was placed by me?
You throw me out of the city at the bottom and you had some turns where could close it at the top but you didn't draw a good tile for it. So I could place a tile to join the city for sure and yes giving back 3 meeple made the farm fight interesting again.

I had a good start. I took over a huge city and placed a early meeple on the farm with 2 besieged cities.
Then Piet got some easy cloister points and scored a besieged city with a cathedral.
At the end i was able to defend 3 huge farms this gave me the final lead.

I have today off - last day of my week's vacation.
Next week, back to work, so evenings only. I can be home by 4:00PM EST, which is (I think) 11:00PM GMT.
We are up for 6:00AM EST, which is (I think) 1:00PM GMT, so that is a possibility.

For me it was tricky to plan ii Advent in advance, so I just checked, whenever I had time and was seldom lucky to find somebody from my group. I will have pretty much time today, though. During the day, in the evening and also at night, so maybe we'll get some game today.

Forth match vs zone2
What a fight. Already early in the game, a big farm showed up. Zone2 did some nice moves to join the farm. Mostly one step ahead.
Luckly i managed to throw him out of my cathedral city which gave me 21 points (more then the final difference).
With only a few tiles to go zone started a last risky attempt to join the farm. 50:50 chance. At the end we shared the 51 point farm.

Yes, this was your last tile. However, after I did not use my one but last tile to "secure" the big farm, but rather for another 12 point farm, I got at least a fitting last tile to tie on the farm again. Hence the close result, tense game.

Another tight game, this time luck finally was in favour of me. The two big cities in NW both were abandoned on times thanks to the cloister, when both of us needed reinforcement for the two big farms. The big, finished cathedral city was fiercly fight for and in the end finished by rfielder in a tied state, since he needed the meeples back more desperately then me at that moment. This flushed us both with more options to score last third of the game, as we had been quite short on meeples at that moment. Game was open until the last tile and I got lucky to get as the last tile the CRFR, with which rfielder would have joint his phantom to the 21 point farm, if he would have got it.

What do you want me to say about the game? At the beginning it was optimal for me and later it became even better. Rfiedler had blocked all Meeple in his big city. I must pay tribute to him for finishing the game.

The game did not started well for me, with Piet finishing the first cathedral city while devaluing the city, I took over with big meeple with a besieged tile. Soon afterwards he trapped a 7 point thief and an 8 point monk of me in a CRFF hole, stole and finished a 22 point city and attempted to take over my farm with Mr. Big. But I was able to block with the CFRF Festival tile and he had to retreat with another Festival. In the meantime I put a second meeple on the big farm, and when I got my big guy back from a scored city also placed him in a way, where I could easily connect him if needed. However Piet did not attempt to fight after that and rather connected him to the farm with one of his last tiles, to secure, that he won't score 6 points on his own.
I took over a 12 points road, he started with 2 meeples, was tempted to wait for an inn tile to finish it, but rather got back my meeples fast. Bad choice, as the my next tile would have been a fitting inn. I also got lots of cloisters, something I'm not to keen of normally. But most of them came, when I had a meeple to spare and the FFFR cloister I could drop and score for instant 11 points (2 from my Phantomas thief) was particularly nice. Second FFFR I also got, and would have been of particularly use to Piet to get into the second biggest farm. So in the end, I got pretty lucky, and therefore won with quite a bigger gap then anybody would have suspected.

Zone2 and Rfielder had some problems in communication planning their game, so I'll forfeit this outstanding game with 0-0 result with no group points awarded.
