Hello,
I was wondering if there is a way to calculate the total value of one’s Carcassonne collection? Is it best to use sites like eBay and BoardGameGeek? :) Or are there other methods that you would recommend?
-
That's a very tricky question as it's difficult to predict how much certain items are worth (especially the rarities). Special editions of the game, rare tiles like the Spiel 14/15/16/17 and Russian promos, misprinted tiles or tiles missing watermarks are all worth different amounts to different people.
As much as I'd love to see one, I don't know of any online tools or calculators that could work out a total value for you but others here may be aware of something.
-
Might be best not to add it all up even if there was - there's always a danger the other half would find out!!
-
People have used the old collection calculator on BGG before, but I believe it's not available anymore.
As Dan said, it's a tricky one as some things might be worth more to you than to someone else, or the other way around.
I would look for the (average) costs of the items and see if I agree with those, and then add everything up together.
Not that I'm going to do this for my collection, as Rich has pointed out the exact reason for that ;)
-
My Carcassonne collection is finished and I think it is far from being worth 1/10th of My Magic collection
So I don't know If I want to know either
-
Put it up for sale on ebay. The market will decide the value. Does it include the £650 book thingy that was released this year?
-
depends who is buying
-
Dunno, try to sell everything apart, then you will know how much it has cost >:D >:D >:D
-
Honestly, I’m not looking to sell any of my collection. It was just for my own personal curiosity. ^-^

Unfortunately, it does not include the newly released (and rather expensive) Carcassonne book. :-\

Do we know of anyone that has actually ordered one? I'm still saving a euro per week, so in about 10 years I'll be ready to order!

Well I save 2 euro's every two weeks I will get it faster. Probably maybe a handful.

I thought Halfling was going to buy one that we could hold a raffle for?
-
I did say that. Not a single bit of interest in the idea that I remember.
-
Things sold as a collection tend to get less price per piece, than those pieces sold separately. So that is something to consider.

I've been talking to Moritz during 1st ICM about that. I do not know if I can pass the numbers, but there is pretty good interest in it. Especially from middle east.
Edit:
Oh the numbers are on the cundco store.

Pretty sure there was at least a little bit interest, but probably no more than enough to cover about 10% of the cost of the box.

You should order one to see if it changes? >:D
-
and on the page it states that the run is limited to 100 copies, 20 of which are reserved for KJW and for Cundco themselves. So either they haven't sold any yet, or they don't update the number :P

Things like this are what make it difficult to assess the "value" of a collection:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Carcassonne-Streng-Limitierte-PROMO-Die-Markte-zu-Leipzig-NEU-ESSEN-2017/323382383872?hash=item4b4b179500:g:KkMAAOSwhqhaMWgM
No guarantee that anyone would pay this for it, but it's what some sellers are asking for it.
-
You can use this page:
http://bgg.jsmackin.co.uk/
Enter your bgg username, export your collection to Excel and then filter out Carcassonne.
However, there are some strange prices on some items.
My whole collection, including all games, shows as €2127.16 worth (value method - average, date range - last 360 days).

I have that scoreboard. Value should be about £0.50. Cheap and nasty.

Me too... I only saw one up for sale quite awhile ago on BGG for 90 euros or dollars or so I believe. That was too much for me...

OK, maybe. But everything in my Carc collection does have a price. Hence tunnels, cathars halflings and besiegers already sold. Trying to quantity what I want for Christmas scoreboard. It is rare, but does get enough use so it is next to go. I have owned it, time to make someone else's day and use the money for Ted's large tiles.
-
I think that yes everything has a monetary value but the value to the owner may be far far more than anyone else is willing to pay.
For example I have a hand made set of pewter meeples for all expansions except the newest one - ringmaster! This set is absolutely beautiful and I think that the value to me is very high. I would sell at the right price but that price would be unachievable for 99% of fans because I love them.

Yes, these are very special. Although I don't think my set has an Abbot (despite giving all of my abbots to the guy who made them so he could make a new cast from them).
How about the pewter meeple keyring with your initials on it? 8)
-
Yes that is on my keys permanently. I thought I lost it recently and searched high and low! Luckily it was found. I love it and my red enamel keyring too.

My thanks for all the interest in my Christmas score track. Unbelievable. Maybe if I have an auction I could have achieved the amount Aenima quoted in this thread. I could only make one of you happy, the deal that I have chosen makes me happy too as I have shifted some old tiles with the score track.
-
I am still looking for that scoretrack to complete my collection. It anyone wants to sell or swap against some special tiles, let me know!
-
There is actually one up on BGG now:

Not too sure about the price though
