Question about a gate of Carcassonne: The city spin-off. Can player that build a gate put a meeple on it? Or gate is not the wall piece? Does gate close the road?

The gates close the road and all other features as well.
You are not allowed to put a meeple on the gates themselves, as well as on any other wall piece in that turn.

I could swear I started similar topic some time ago, but can't find it right now. If I do, I'll post a link to it.

Thank you for the answer! I think that the rule when nobody is allowed to put a meeple on the gate and wall at first scoring in the second round is more fairly than the rule when only player deploying a gate can't put a follower on it.
