Reviews & Session Reports / Re: First game of T&B
« on: August 30, 2013, 08:45:35 AM »
I really enjoy Traders and Builders too as I think it adds just enough without getting too complicated. You didn't mention how you got on with the Builder or the Pig? Most of my games that include T & B seem to involve everyone getting their builder into play as quickly as possible and then everyone else trying to trap them there! Did you use your Pig to generate the extra points for your major farm?
The builder helped us build cities much faster. Since this was our first game with t&b, none of us were skilled enough to 'trap' builders, but we did in later games. And yes indeed my major farm involved the pig.

P.s. I finally managed to downsize the file. I usually visit the site on mobile, so I attached the image to my note app and captuerd and cropped it. I kept repeating until the image was downsized.

Hello, this is Tilehunt, and I'm posting my very first session report. First of all, I do not own many expansions, mainly because it's only been a month since my very first game of Carcassonne. The only expansions I own is all of Big Box 3 and the river 1. However, my friends do not like playing complicated things, so we decided to play with only the Traders & Builders expansion. So I'm quite sure this game wouldn't look fun or interesting to you guys.

START OF GAME
There were three players. I was obviously the blue meeple :blue-meeple:, and the two others were:red-meeple:and:green-meeple:. The order of play was :blue-meeple::green-meeple::red-meeple:. I started off by placing a thief on the road.

HIGHLIGHTS
Yeah, well it was a very quick game with only one expansion. But here are some highlights.
-Green and Red both tried to join with my farm, but in failed attempts.
-There were fights over trading goods. Green succeeded to became the majority in two goods. I got five barrels earlier in the game, so no one wanted to finish my city with one cloth and two barrels.

END OF GAME
Before end of game scoring, Green was in the lead with 62 points, and I was failing with  only 44 points. However, thanks to my unfinished three cloisters and my major farm, I was able to win with exactly 100 points. Green was close behind with 95 points, and Red had 78 points

REVIEW
This was my very first game of T&B. I liked the trading goods especially because they motivated everyone to finish each other's cities. My friends enjoyed the game too, and I would be waiting until our next meeting when we would play with Bridges, Castles and Bazaars.

P.s. I tried to attatch a photo, but I failed due to the file size limit. I'm sorry guys.

Tilehunt: just upload your photo in Paint and downsize it there, then you can upload it to the Forum.
Thanks for the good advice, wicke

Thanks kettlefish! I wish you could ask him if the wagon can pass through the little road in Inns & Cathedrals. Here was the question:

The special tile:
A crossing is a part from a road. The road ends in a crossing.
But there is only a crossing. And you can't score a road with no road-segments.

The crossing doesn't belongs to a city and also it doesn't belongs to a farm.
So according to this, the small road segments aren't considered a road, and it's just intended to seperate farms, am I correct? Well, if so I think a different design (like a wodden fence passing between the farms) would have been much clearer.

I don't think a fence would have made sense visually like a little piece of road does.  A little snip of a road to make the tile aesthetically pleasing makes sense to me.  It's about the same thing as the drawings of little barns and animals on the field segments.  People have come up with fan rules for them, just not the little road snippets, at least that I'm aware of.
Yeah I think you're right. I guess I said that without much thinking

Official Rules / The Phantom Festival
« on: August 15, 2013, 08:15:31 AM »
Hey guys, so here was my question on bordgamegeek.
Quote from: BlueMeeple
Here's a question about the rules when combining the phantom with the festival.
As a brief summary of the rules, the festival allows you to
(a) place one follower on a feature or
(b) remove one of your piece from the board
whereas the phantom allows you to place the phantom as a follower after your original turn.
In the festival rules (which I saw in carcassonne CAR) it clearly states to deploy one of one's own pieces. However, the phantom expansion was released after the festival so I was wondering
(1)does that mean you cannot place a phantom in the festival turn?
(2)if not, can you choose two different options? That is, can you remove one of your pieces and place a phantom as an extra?
The festival and the phantom keeps confusing me, so i hope i get an answer soon.
And this was what I got.
Quote from: DoomTurtle
The festival tile does not change any rules when it comes to placing a meeple. You place a festival tile. You then place a meeple on a feature on this tile as normal. If you have the phantom, you can also place that. Or you can place the phantom on its own.

The only special rule with a festival tile is this: If you decide not to place a meeple on the tile, than you can remove one of your meeples from anywhere on the board.

So that's it. Place as normal and be done. Or not place anything and remove something.
But the harder I thought about it, I became more and more confused. According to the CAR:
Quote from: Complete Annotated Rules
Question: Does the phantom have to be second to a true follower, or can it be placed in addition to a non-follower piece? The phantom may also be placed as a second piece in addition to the builder, pig, or any other “move the wood” piece such as movement of the fairy or placement of a tower piece.
So since removing a follower is part of moving the wood, should'nt you be able to remove a follower and place a phantom? Or am I missing something?

There are some clear phantom meeples in Hoard O' Bits.
www.hoardobits.com
They sell 8 meeples of each color seperately from the Anniversary Edition. I believe they are the same shape and size as the phantom meeples.
I hope this information has helped you.

The files are located at http://boardgamegeek.com/filepage/87040/carcassonne-icons-and-logos-mostly-vector
Actually, I've already taken a look at those. However, i was not looking for the watermark icons, i was looking for some hq color pictures of meeples, tiles and icons (see attachment). Since my skills are inadequant for making the files,  i though i would ask of some help from you guys.

I think some hq tiles and meeples would be great (i could get the icons out of those)

Thanks, harvster. I didn't know there was a newer version of the CAR. I do like the CAR, but I'm planning something a little different.

General / Icon vector files
« on: August 13, 2013, 09:29:38 AM »
Hello i'm a new member of Carcassonne Central.
Currently, I am planning to make a new set of rules that do not change anything but summarize and clarify the rules. Also, i am making a reference sheet(such as Ckorfmann mentioned) for mega carcassonne. So i was wondering if any of you could provide me with some files for my project such as icons (mage and witch icon or robber icon, dragon symbol, gold symbol, festival symbol and so on)or hq tile pictures(ferries, inns and cathedrals, tunnels, tunnel tokens and castles, trading tokens and such) and graphic meeple vector files(builder, pig, mayor, barn and wagon, count, fairy, dragon and more). I would most definitely appreciate your help.
