The houses have Doris Doris Matthäus's art style, as do the bushes.

The second tile, with just hedges, looks very much like Anne Pätzke's.

Both tiles have excellent artwork for their own reasons.  I'm sure both can be used with either edition without looking out of place.

Played a first game with the Labyrinth tiles.  Couldn't decide which major expansion to use so decided not to use any nor the base game!  Instead this picture shows the Labyrinth tiles with: -
La Porxada
The Russian Promo
GQ Expansion
Spiel 14
Spiel 15
Darmstadt
The King
The Besiegers
The Wind Roses (start tile)
The Festival
The Corn Circles II
The Gold Mines
The Ferries
The Witch and Mage
The Flying Machines

:blue-meeple: 161  (with both the King and the Robber Baron tiles)
 :black1-meeple: 125
 :white-meeple: 118
 :yellow-meeple: 109

Crazy game and photo! Great stuff (+1).  Looks like they went for festival and windrose green....some people won't be happy with that. Ironically the AP tile matches better.

I have to agree with Decar, It seems to me that they both can be used in both editions (which is kind of interesting!)
I do like the houses more.

*Sigh* Why can't the green ever be consistent? Yes, I agree that the new art tile matches better with the green of (most) of the old art, and since the new art tile doesn't contain the things I don't like about the new art, I'll probably use that rather than the dark green one.

I wonder if the choice of the Labyrinth theme has anything to do with the novel of that name by Kate Mosse set in Carcassonne: http://www.independent.co.uk/travel/europe/labyrinth-how-historic-carcassonne-inspired-a-bestseller-8545504.html

It might just be a coincidence!

It could have sparked the idea, for sure.

By the way, we have talked about this book here before. It's on my bookshelf and I'm sure that it has appeared in the background of a few of my game photos that I've posted here too.

I like how the CarcII tile matches the old original artwork really well but the CarcI tile matches the German Castles tiles well. Clearly CundCo is capable of properly colour-matching tiles, why can't they get them right, then?

BigBox 4 (with all the minis):
The complete tiles have also in the dark green like the German Castles and the new tile with the C - graphics by Doris Matthäus.

So if you own Big Box 4 and these expansions, it's a matching set! That's not promising. I don't like the dark green as much as I don't like the new graphics. Katharer, Plague, Darmstadt, and Kornkriese are also all dark-grass expansions, I believe.
