Official Rules / Does the City of Carcassonne count for the King?
« on: November 09, 2013, 08:48:47 AM »
Very quick rules question. When scoring for the King (from King & Robber Baron) at the end of the game, do you get one point for the City of Carcassonne itself (from Count of Carcassonne)?

My guess is that you should, since this city is counted for farms at the end of the game, according to footnote 68 of S-CAR v6.3:

Quote
68 The city of Carcassonne does count when scoring farms at the end of the game.

Official Rules / Winter Edition animal tile rules?
« on: November 03, 2013, 08:44:20 AM »
Footnote 3 from the W-CAR v1.1 says:

Quote
3 HiG has asked the fans of the game for new rules to use with the animal tiles. For now,
however, the animals are simply aesthetic.

Does this mean that HiG intend to officially sanction a set of rules for these 12 tiles at some point? If so, has that happened yet?

Do you think adding a note at the top of each page to contact us for alternate shipping methods would help potential buyers reach out who are put off on shipping rates?

I notice that you've added this:

INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS: PLEASE CONTACT US FOR ALTERNATE SHIPPING METHODS IF YOU DO NOT PREFER FLAT RATE SHIPPING RATES.

Yes, I think that definitely helps! I would even be a step more explicit:

INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS: PLEASE CONTACT US FOR ALTERNATE SHIPPING METHODS IF YOU DO NOT PREFER FLAT RATE SHIPPING RATES WHICH CAN BE SIGNIFICANTLY CHEAPER THAN THE FLAT SHIPPING RATES AT CHECKOUT.

I imagine you don't have any control over messages displayed once you get through to the PayPal checkout (as attached), but if you could add something there as well that might help?

None of this is a criticism of your site by the way, which I think you have done a great job of! Just hoping to help you out a bit :)

I bought from you, and I can say that the fees are very low, but could be a business boost if these low values can be seen at a glance by the future buyer.

+1, I was put off by the delivery charges at first (I live in the UK) until I read on this forum that you can do reduced shipping estimates based on the actual products ordered. I'm sure there are other potential orderers out there who feel the same!

I similarly found this for about 5 pounds last year - I was very pleased!

Merit for you for offering it on the forum and not trying to flog it for a fortune on eBay  :)

I don't think the differences are quite so great still to call them Windroses I & II. I'd say it's more similar to The Cult (Spielbox) vs. The Cult (RGG) where there was an extra tile in the latter.

Personally, I consider the two versions of the cult to be different expansions. I tend to think of them as "Heretics & Shrines" and "The Cult". Certainly I wouldn't feel a full game of Mega Carc was complete without both.

I feel the same about the new version of The Wind Roses. Since there is a (small) change in both the tiles and the rules, I don't think that you could consider your collection complete without both. That's just my thoughts.

I guess the community has to make some sort of official ruling on this for the next CAR!

Ah clever - what a neat solution to the language problem!

I'm glad I ordered this now, the perfectionist in me didn't like having non-English in game text :)

There will be a nearly identical version in the next Spielbox

This probably just means that it will have the Spielbox pentagon watermark, right?

That Big Box auction, wth!?  And why is it 500 bucks plus in the By It Now, but in the description it says:

$267.60 $360.95

Is the seller away and he didn't want to take the auction down so he made it unbuyable?  I've seen that before, $10 items for a thousand with an "I'm away" message in the description.

The "Buy It Now" price ($535.20) is exactly twice the price in the description ($267.60) and the seller had two copies available. I guess he just messed up his maths a bit! Worked out well for him though, he's already sold one copy.

Why would anyone pay this for Big Box 3? Especially when you can buy al of the constituent parts individually for much less!

I especially have a problem with people who buy things so that they can sell them right away for even more money.

I totally agree with this sentiment. It stops others from getting a fair shot at building up a collection, which no true fan would do in my opinion. I hope that regular CarcCentral folk are better than that.

Die Windrosen was making a lot on eBay a month or two ago, but I wouldn't have dreamt of selling the copy that I got through this forum. The first thing I did when I got it was tear off the plastic unpunch the tiles and play with them!

I would quite like to get a white settler meeple from the "Carcassonne: New World" board game. I want to use it to replace the teacher meeple, which I get confused with phantoms!

They sell them at Carcassonne Shoppe, but postage to the UK is very expensive!

Can anyone spare me one?

I'm looking for a Phantom Case Purple (Violet or Magenta). I got the others cases when Carcassonneshoppe opened again. The others items to complete my collection are on the way.
Hi evmillan, do you mean you just need a purple case not the actual purple phantom meeple? If so, I have a purple phantom case that I'd be happy to send you. Just send me a message with your postal address.

spielbox 2013/5 - contains the Wind Roses

That's a bit disappointing, I was hoping for something original from Spielbox. Especially since The Wind Roses is confirmed to be released on Cundco in November.

Oh well, that will teach me for pre-ordering the magazine!

A copy of Die Belagerer just sold for 109.50 euros on eBay! Oh my. I put a bid in at around the 30 euro mark, but then it just exploded...

That's certainly the most expensive Carc thing I've ever seen sold. Though perhaps an original copy of La Porxada may fetch more.

I am going to appeal again to any kind hearted Germans out there that might be willing to buy a copy or two and send it to the forum members. I only live in the UK, so the postage wouldn't be too bad! :D

And what will happen in the meantime is that those who can buy the game will be buying it up and selling it on eBay for increasingly ridiculous prices while there's demand. I'd rather my money was going to HiG than some guy on eBay but I do feel kind of forced into this position at present.

+1 to this. Like I said in an earlier post, I don't mind having to buy an extra copy of the base game. However the short supply and inaccessability of a just released expansion is frustrating. If it were available online I would be happy to pay the price and postage.

I just got this reply from Mueller about availability online (translated from German by Google):

Since we are a chain store companies, we unfortunately have no way to ship the products to you. Thus, online ordering is not possible, as we offer no online shop on our website.

So we are left with eBay... and the good graces of German members of this forum! Are any of you willing to buy a few copies for the people on this topic interested in getting hold of one?
