Sorry BC&B misprint not king tile.

So long as anyone reading this knows this is probably the hardest Carcassonne artifact to find and should see a price to match.

Carcassonne was released in 2000, I'm not sure of the month, I suspect the print run was limited because it was not know how popular the game was goint to become.  By 2001 the 2nd edition was relelased with the grey 50 point board and also picked up by at least a French publisher.  Later in 2001 the SdJ was won and the rest is history.  So in less than 18months the game had gone through 3 iterations.

If you're a completionist have you got:

> All three print runs of Corn Circles?
> Two sets of Teacher Meeple Essen/Cundco are slighty different
> Both versions of the Russian Tiles from HobbyWorld
> All 3 versions of the Cult
> A first edition of Brazilian Carcassonne / the 2nd
> Both versions of the Gingerbread expansion
> A misprinted King tile?

These are all easier to get hold of than a first edition Carc!

Dan, I'm utilizing stemscells so I can bite of a third leg!

Heres like 102 of the Bootstrap class, which u can see in guthub:

Path pluginDir = Paths.get(getClass().getClassLoader().getResource("plugins").toURI());

I suspect getResouce('plugins')  has returned 'null' because it hasnt been able to find it.

I suspect youre missing the directory.  Or that the directory cant be loaded because its executing from the zip file as i said before.

A screenshot of your folder where you execute java would be helpful!

4444
Its a silly question but have you exracted the zip file. Windows has a tendency to open things in situ, which prevents the other resouces, like images, from being accesible when the JVM is executed.

I doubt he 32/64 bit jvm makes any difference. From what ive seen of jcz, it doesnt use anything thats goong to affect memory allocation in this way. The bytecode will execute on 32/64 bit in a similar manor for most things.

Best of luck with that. 70 other people here would bite a right arm off for a copy too. There are some images of the 70point score track here on the forum.

Quizzes, Puzzles and Challenges / Re: Carcassonne Central: Advent Quiz

What a fantastic result!  Its been a great competition; I have been watching my phone like a hawk the whole of December.  Ive answered questions at my desk, on my phone, in the super market, in the car, in restaurants, in the bath, in bed (though i seemed to get those answered wrong), in a service station during a road trip, at my neice's baptism (just after) and even in the loo!  Ive not been able to rest the entire month and I was worried it wasnt going to pay off and  couple of times I was doubtful!  I think I got lucky at the end there with those 3-pointers.

Well done to Dan making this a really fun experience, carefully recording the response times (49s!!!) and giving us the results in an exciting manner too! Ive certainly learnt a few extra facts about CarcC!

Thank you!

General / Re: Tile Distribution Lists?
« on: December 31, 2015, 07:54:16 AM »
The CAR has a tile distribution and examples of each tile from each expansion, you should be able to identify each tile.

If the tile has no watermark and not from the base set. Its likely inns and cathedrals.

I'm looking for a set of pictorial lists for each expansion of the tiles in each set. I have quite a few that don't have the symbols on them. Looked in Annotated rules but doesn't seem to have it... unless I missed it. There's something that's not really what I wanted. Anyone know somewhere?

I hear the Spanish publishers are making an expansiom to improve the 2.0 art work.

Picture attached.

I'm actually thinking of pledging another $50 for an extra copy of the caves, capitol promos and settlements .  With all the game boards and extra pieces a mega-kingdom builder has to start being an option and the extra bits might be handy!

@whaleyland - you should ask for a copy of Crop Circles, if they didn't specify  ;) Glad to hear it's on target.

@Mr Numbers - great photos, I love the tokens and ferries are very nice!

Other Games / Re: Cacao board game with similarities to Carcassonne

I got to play this with my wife today for the first time.  The game mechanics is very simple; the rules are elegant.

Our 2-player game only took about 15-20 minutes, which was nice and quick.  I wasn't blown away by the strategy, although it is similar to Carcassonne, I suspect the trick must be knowing which Action tiles you and your opponent have remaining.  This will probably allow you to determine best choices; but this seemed straight-forward during play, so moves were fast.  In a 2-player game it is not possible to count Jungle-Tiles, because you will probably not play all of them during the game.

I didn't like the River mechanic, it seemed like a simple way to buff scores; rather than grow, sell Cacao.

The production quality is fantastic.  Tiles are very similar to Carcassonne tiles (I wouldn't be surprised to find out they came from the same machine).  The Meeple are official HiG ones.  The Box Inlay is very pleasing, all the tokens and meeple fit nicely.

I would show you the outside but file sizes prohibit me :(

Good to hear it's bigger on the outside,  I thought that was going out of fashion.

I was wondering if JTAtomico had a photo of his collection on the forum. We saw it at the UK Meetup. The tuckboxes are a really nice and a Big Box fits in a travel suitcase...perfectly!
