The intent i for neither player to know what tiles will come up before the game starts.  Though the tiles are determined neither player will know the order they will come out.
How you play: agressively/passively/ with high risk or low risk moves are down to the player's abilities to read the tiles and utilize them effectively.

Maybe we have to play first leg and back game at once with the same card distribution to determine the better player :-)

:o I thought I would play with multiple opponents using the same deck, so I know the order of tiles starting from my second game.
Apparently I misunderstood the thread. We each are only gonna play one game. OK, still interesting.

Ah, I don't see that working.

What I was intending was during each round, All the tables of players would have the same decks.  Each table could have 2 decks to alternative start players.

New Round, new player pairings, new decks  :(y)

Ah I see.
Well, then it goes back to Rosco's concern.
I might win against Dan (or many other very skillful players, but Dan has the shortest name) if I'm super lucky that day during our first game, but without the luck in streak, I probably will lose. Then in my 2nd game with Dan, he can easily beat me with his skills, regardless of the starting player.
So I might just lose badly in all of the 2nd legs in each pairing, as opposed to more loss when not being the first/second player.

But there are half a dozen other games with the same tiles being played at the same time so all those players in those games had all the same tiles to play, so may do relatively worse than playing Dan.
