That's very true!

That's why I still stick stubborn to the old artwork:
1. I don't have the feeling i actually miss something essential to the game
2. It is a good reason to really stop the insane hunt for all the -not essential- stuff they keep on dropping on the market
3. It gives me a piece of mind not to spend all my euros on ridiculous expensive tiles or even worse on those money-sharks who demand even more ridiculous amounts on eBay, Marktplaats or even sometimes on this forum.
4. I still miss some old artwork -not essential- expansions like Cathars, Tunnels and Crop Circles 1.  Deep inside, i want them but I refuse to give lots of euros for just 4 cardboard tiles which i don't really need.
5. To conclude: that's why I really like fine initiatives like Dan's spare parts giveaway as a way to exchange the non-essential expansions we all have.

Marketing promotions (for any company) usually don't give a crap about faithful, long-term customers. They are always looking toward adding new customers. This is why companies create product after product and promotion after promotion that anger their core patrons. They don't have to go out of their way to serve us or make us happy, because they already have us in the palm of their hand — and they know it.

Just look at how many of us were appalled/devastated/angered/whatever about the artwork change, and yet we went right ahead and bought the damned thing. And there are the repetitive Monasteries/Temples in Not France, wind roses, crop circles, Leipzig, and more ... these are gimmick products with dubious long-term value to the game. They aren't really designed to make Carcassonne play better so much as to make humans pay better. Marketing concerns drive their development. Of course one of the worst offenders is the annual hard-to-get "spiel" tile that adds nothing to gameplay. Looking at it rationally rather than emotionally, it's junk cardboard. Earlier, wiser generations would just roll their eyes at us. Chasing all this stuff really is a mild form of insanity (and I'm scolding myself here, too).

All that to say ... they're never going to stop pulling these shenanigans, because they work. We get angry, and then we give them our money anyway — for products with too-low ratios of play value to acquisition cost. As long as we keep doing this, they will keep doing that.

This is a pile of garbage punishing people who bought things after Essen and before now. I don’t need or want anything from  Cund.co except Star Wars Expansion 1 which is under €17 before shipping. So angry right now. Let’s screw long-term faithful customers who can’t afford a trip to Essen. That sounds like a good idea.

To paraphrase Just A Bill's post, they've done it before (many times) and they'll do it again. You of all people know this! I'm surprised anyone is surprised.

How frustrating!

Seems an odd choice to have set packages when most of the people seeking out the cundco website will be the long term Carcassonne players after bits - the ones that might already have a number of components from the packages! What happened to the nice way of going about it from previous years? One day I hope they will do what other publishers/bgg geek store do and just have it available to buy (would also stop silly prices on eBay) ...

they are not our "friend", they are traders... true, now to have the tile you have to spent 17€, but also the other years you had to spend money to have the tile... you give me money, I give you the tile

I placed my order order late last night for some mini expansions so at least the delivery was cheap. Still seems rather excessive mind just to get the spiel tile! But at least they've responded to my email to confirm that it'll be included with my order.

But I am not. The most people always want to have tiles/games for free (or at minimal price) without a trip to Essen or buying something essential at Cundco.
I feel like saying: "What about Christmas? Buy a game to your friend or relatives as a present and get free promo tile! Don't be so stingy!"

Oh no! I didn't get a confirmation of the inclusion of tile... This worries me!

I think they only confirmed it to Rich_The_Fish because he emailed them first to ask if it would be included. If you are concerned then I'd recommend sending an email too. But it seems as long as you spent 17 Euros or more you should get one...

Yes, you should be fine. I only emailed them because I selected the wrong payment method so placed a second order and wanted to let them know the first one wasn't needed. I also enquired about a score track in the new artwork as i'd like one, but they didn't respond to that query.

I'm assuming they havent put any Spiel '17 tiles with any orders before the 23rd.

But yeah, they've probably forgot. Emailing them is usually the best option, and just wait. I've had before that something (small) was missing. When i emailed them and offered to place another order for them to include it in, they just send it separately, without me making extra costs.

I've just checked and they've already send out my order to! I hope they've included the tile in mine
