AndrewtheAmbo 264 : Chuck 181

First game down, and it all came down to a big city that Chuck regrets not closing off. I needed a CFRX tile to close it for probably half the game, and eventually got it, with a huge swag of city poits, and also trade goods.
Aftre completing it, Chuck did mention he had thought of enclosing that tile to limit my options. Chuck, I would have, as it was quite easy to do.

Other than that, we had a good battle for farms, although I did make a mistake that did allow Chuck to draw on the main farm.

Good game, thanks Chuck.

Chuck and myself finally arranged our last game.

The first half was dead even, with one getting ahead, and then the other of us evening the score.
At about 3/4 time, I managed to get in the big farm, and then steadily defended my placement by surrounding my meeple.

Thanks for the effort. I appreciate it.

I just put a request in as well.

Dan, would you be able to pick a set up for me, if available, and post them together with Whaleylands? I am happy to send his on to him if required.

It was looking to be a close finish. I was trailing most of the game, never getting towers and Chooselife getting one as soon as I placed a meeple (evidenced by how many meeples of mine he had. 4 at one stage). With 3 tiles to go, it was neck and neck, and I got the majority in the main farm, but I was in a situation of being unable to defend my farmer or take out his with my last tile.
Chooselife then got a lucky draw, and managed to get a share of the main farm.

I would guess 4 wins, 1 second, 1 third and 1 fourth placing.

I thought we were not using farm hints or other helping aids?

Another game down in group C, and it is a win and a loss apiece for Leven, Hounk and myself.

Andrew the Ambo 103:74 Leven

For my second ever game of The Tower, I decided to try an aggresive game, taking meeples off Leven wherever I could, and also trying to use meeples to close off small features. Most of the game I had at least one, if not two of Leven's meeples trapped.

I feel there is a lot of luck involved in this expnsion though, moreso than the previous ones. Yesterday I would take one of Hounks meeples, out of a city only for him to draw the exact tile needed next turn. Today it was my turn to get the luck. Having features that are empty and only rely on one tile makes it the luck of the draw who will draw the tile first.

Leven played a good game, but was thwarted by tiles which were not of much use at the time.

It is a long weekend in New Zealand, although I will be busy on Sunday. That means I am free to play games on Friday and Sunday night's Europe time.

We are at UTC-12.

Hoard is another New Zealand designed game. I have played some of Julia's other games. Raid the Pantry and Granny Wars come to mind.

Just reading the Kickstarter now. You mentioned it reminded you of The Hobbit. I see the art was done by Weta Digital. Guess what movie series they were involved in.

I'm in. Being winter here, I will be more available at weekends  whether morning our night to play my games against those in Europe.
