It would be handy for the entire community if there was a link perhaps on the menu bar...for quick access at any time.

Reviews & Session Reports / 7 player session
« on: February 12, 2013, 06:37:52 PM »
Wow! This was a close one. The first pic shows the final score. First, second and third - Black, Orange and Purple finished 1 point apart in succession. Final score was 137 to 136 to 135. By far the closest game we've had. This game ran around 2 and a half hours which was pretty good for a 7 player session. What a lot of fun.

The interesting part of the story is that we found out after the game that Orange had played the entire game 1 follower short. I had borrowed one for measuring purposes earlier and didn't remember to put it back with the game. He never realized he was short and finished 2nd anyway - that was quite impressive.  :o

As it is Black won the game with 4 followers trapped in time!

Here's what was included:
Inns & Cathedrals
Cathars/Siege
Ferries
Flier
Gold Mines
Upper Carcassonne (Stairs)
Stone Walls
Bluffs
Magic Gates
Abbeys
Farmer in the Dell
Father Time
Pig
Wagon
Mayor
Big follower

General / Draw-string bags for meeples
« on: February 12, 2013, 04:35:47 PM »
I found an awesome little source for some shear draw-string bags. Get this - they are only 24 cents each. I bought 11 of them and paid $2.00 shipping. It's just about the best 5 bucks I've ever spent.

They are made of organza. The 4x6 size is perfect to hold a full set of meeples, an abbey tile, two bridges, two castles, two tunnels, a trading post and a scoring die...with plenty of room to spare for future.

Reviews & Session Reports / Re: The Barbarian Report: MEGA MINI MAYHEM!!!

Excellent session report - coupled with a nice review on the minis in action. Nice!

Whaley - regarding your struggles with keeping track of laps on the score board - you should look at my method for using d6's. Here's a pic from an old session of mine from an 8 player game:

This Wednesday, I think, my wife and I are going to try to combined Carcassonne Minis game—all six+both Corn Circles—and see how it goes. Fingers crossed.

Great, can't wait for your masterful review!

Reviews & Session Reports / Re: The Barbarian Report: The Robbers Review
« on: February 11, 2013, 09:34:04 AM »
I imagine in a six-player game, the act of having everybody place their robber could be quite time consuming if some of the players have analysis paralysis. Who has the highest value feature soon to be completed? That's who I'd want to follow.

We played an 8 player game 2 weeks ago - which I have photos of, and will post up in the Sessions - I generally handle the scoreboard (not so mush as I'm good at it but I'm one of the Generals in the game - keeping the game moving, etc. which is a must in an 8 player game - and I am always aware when someone scores and what the score is. We've tried having other players do the scoreboard and it hasn't worked out so well.  :) ) Anyway, I estimate that the Robber added easily a half hour to the game - sometimes getting players to decide who they wanted to mooch from was painstaking. (We were calling it "mooching" because it isn't true robbing.) with Father Time being used the game ran about 2:45, plus clean up. Not bad really.

We were playing that when a robber tile was placed ALL players were allowed to place their robbers if they weren't already on the score track. That was our interpretation of the English interpretation of the rules that we pulled from the net. I bought German copies of the minis so we didn't have exact translations.
I can easily say that limiting the placement of the robber to just two players per tile will save a lot of game time.
