We've got some quick fire Completionist polls over the next few weeks - they'll probably be running slightly faster than once a week so keep your eyes peeled.
This time we ask: Do you need all the Phantom Boxes to be complete?
Phantoms are everyone's favourite expansion (really) and have been released in 6 different coloured boxes representing the traditional Carcassonne colours: Red, Yellow, Blue, Green, Grey, Black
(http://www.tehill.net/carcassonne/general/carcassonne_gefolge_103225_1.jpg)
Do you need all 6 to feel complete or are you happy with just one?
Do you even need the phantom expansion, Did you just pick up the jubilee edition?
Let us know below :(y)

Whilst I managed to get my hands on all of the Phantoms - including the alt colours thanks to michmedia - I have no urge to collect the boxes, or even hold onto the one I have.
-
I don't need the other colours. As it's not a playable item, like the school bags, having different colour containers makes little difference. I have red and yellow, but only because I wanted two sets of phantoms. If I got the opportunity to buy the black box, I probably would, but only because I play with black.
-
I really only need one but when I was searching for it they were all priced at $15-20 each on ebay. I found a listing (it's still active for those interested) of a guy in Germany selling all six for $30. Well, I intended to give some away to friends once they arrived but all six of them do look rather nice up on the shelf so I'll probably keep them all. ::)

The phantom is made of plastics. And a plastic figure is still no wood figure.
Many years I didn't had a phantom expansion.
In 2011 the phantom and the jubilee edition - both with plastic figures.
I've called with HiG and asked them if they like to make the same mistake than the other publisher with Catan...
I am not a fan of plastic figures - I told this to HiG.
The first members meeting at the Spiel in Essesn was in 2013. Moritz Brunnhofer and the HiG-Team prepared surprising bag for all the participants of this members-meeting. Moritz Brunnhofer and I talked about what should come into the bag. He remembered that I still hadn't the phantomes...
The bag was filled with some mini-expansions, the dragon and the fairy figure and the phantom expansion.
I have a phantom expansion since that members-meeting.
-
I also am not a fan of plastic figures and I only play with Phantom really because the transparent theme works for that figure. Still, the idea of getting all six cases died when I realised that the cases couldn't even hold all the pieces of a single player colour. I consider this a major faux pas on the part of Hans im Glück. I'd be much more interesting in getting all the cloth bags over getting all the plastic meeple cases.

I bought my phantoms on ebay and they did not come with a box at all.
-
I have a set of 9 phantoms per color. A guy once had a whole set of 8 of them and I bought it for a really small price. Only have a purple box and no interrest in getting more of them
-
Not sure if you know but, If your phantoms didnt come in phantom cases, you probably have meeple from the jubilee edition, they usually come in little plastic boxes just big enough to fit 8 meeple inside.
-
I have one set of phantoms and one box, which is purple (grey?). I think I remember choosing purple because it generally serves as the neutral colour in the game (dragon, Count etc), so I thought it would be appropriate for the phantom box. But really it doesn't matter to me.

Sorry I couldn't resist:

I have all six colours of the box, with a set of eight phantom meeples in each (I had to buy two spare sets to get enough for that ::)).

One of the reasons that I bought them all (except pure completionism) was because I was interested in The Wicker Man (http://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?topic=448.msg9115#msg9115) fanspansion or some variant of it. I have not actually played it yet, but I wanted to make sure I had the necessary components just in case!

Great photo JT Atomico - I'm glad there's at least one other insane completionist out there like me :p
I'd not seen this expansion, so I'm going to have a look now.
I think this poll has separated the completionist 'men' from the 'boys' ;D
-
I bought all 6 and sold 5 leaving me the red box meaning this is a free expansion for me. hurrah!

:(y) O0
A lot more boys than men though...

With when I got into Carcassonne, as well as my first set missing the meeples, I chose the 'cheaper' option at MeepleSource and got 50 meeples. With that, I painted 40 of them for a normal set and had 12 left to do whatever with, so with a mirror ball top coat 6 of the remainder became phantoms. Of course, after I completed the set of my custom phantoms (right after I painted them on the friday the postman came with my Carc 2 stuff) I saw a set of 8 clear that I could have used to do a phantom set too, but I'm all out of money in my bank XD (some of it went towards some promos on BGG for other games that I own and some of it went to a deck of cards from Artscow for a PNP game that I got from BGG and want to complete)
-
I don't need all boxes, but I have them all. I bought them on ebay , someone wanted to get rid of some phantom-expansions together.
-
After 40 votes - I doubt this is going to change much:
30 of you think 1 is just fine (I don't believe it), while only 5 of you (us) think you need all of them to be complete.
I'm surprised no one voted for the jubilee considering how many of you described them, although I think some of you acquired them from resellers of the jubilee edition.
Anyway, it's great to hear your thoughts and opinions!
We're moving on in quick succession to another favouritism poll:
What's your favourite spin-off score-track? (http://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?topic=2666.0)

Goes without saying that a true collector gets every deviation of one item. :) Also, I am glad I was able to acquire them all at the local store.
-
I have all sets with eight meeples in each colour. I had to buy a bulk lot in order to get complete translucent sets, but I love playing with them.
-
I went for option 1. Like it says on our profile page "Small expansion (2011) - collect all 6" :)
I have all 6 of the phantom cases, and have complete sets of phantoms (8 ) in about 10 or 11 different colours.
-
Like almost everyone else, one does me just fine. I was lucky and got my player colour (blue) which probably helped me feel satisfied with this.
I can see why people would want all 6, they do look really good together, but I'm not really a completionist outside of playable items.
