I recently bought the Carcassonne Big Box and liked it so much that I'm trying to get all the related games that I can find. I picked up the newer expansions, but the older ones are proving a challenge. In particular, the Winter Edition, which looks awesome, is currently priced at over $129 on Amazon and eBay. However, I also see it for about $30 on the websites DHgate and Fun Toy Shop. Does anybody know if these are legitimate/reliable websites? I'd really like to pick up the game but not at the expense of my online/financial security. Thanks for any help you all can give! Really liking Carcassonne Central and looking forward to adding some fan expansions soon!

It does appear that Carcassonne Winter edition is out of stock in most places. Any more than about £35 would be excessive. At times it's been less than £20. Ive not used DHGate, it does look like a Chinese import shop. I'd be inclined to look elsewhere. I'll have another look and let you know if i see anything.

Hi! Thanks for responding! I was a little leery on the Chinese one too, so I'm trying the Fun Toy Shop. Price with shipping was $38, which seems pretty reasonable. Crossing my fingers that I get it in the promised 7-10 days!

I agree with Decar, DHgate look very much like shops as AliExpress, Wish etc.
Looking at the pictures of the base game in the old art, I am almost certain this is the cheap knock-off you find more often. Tiles are printed in bad quality, with a glare on the tiles, and it just isn't right.
And it seems the winter edition is about the same quality.
I can't find Fun You Shop, but let's hope it's a good choice and you get the game soon!

These website are fake. They use images from anothers websites like eBay etc But the product isn't the same from the picture. Be careful! Normally you can't use PayPal and the contact in the website doesn't exist.

First thing to check: if the items actually are described good enough.
Second to check: if contact info is correct, what kind of payments are allowed. If for example a Dutch web-shop doesn't accept IDeal I know I'm not interested.
Third to check: If there social media is right... Facebook does actually exist, instragram and others. Most web-shops have it, I've seen web-shops that had the buttons, but no actual link...

I can confirm that it is a fake version .
The box has a different cardboard to original, ( not silky feel but smooth paper )
the scoreboard is a very thin cardboard and tiles are of poorer quality
tiles already punched out in a plastic bag.
I payed with Paypal , so hope will get a refund. I thought, it is a bit strange that the whole Europe and America are out of stock , but in China, they have plenty. There are more of these Chinese website and I assume, they sell the same product.

With a lot of products coming from China, they are well know for their fake products. Sad to hear you though you were buying an original.

Welcome to the forum. Sorry to here you got a knock-off! A real pity! The pictures show something that doesn't match what to receive.
I've seen some of them on AliExpress that include C1 Base Game + River + The Tower + The Catapult +Cult, Siege & Creativity + King & Robber + The Count of Carcassonne ... See some "promotional" pictures below. Terrible pictures and terrible quality...
Hope you get your refund soon.
