Halflings I or Halflings II
« on: January 10, 2016, 04:17:00 PM »
Just curious what you all think about the two Halflings expansions... and, if you prefer one, why?

(By the way, both are for sale at Cundco right now. I ordered Halflings II back in December, then they put Halflings I up for sale this month... and that's what got me curious about people's opinions. It's kind of funny that you can get both "the Cundco one" and "the Spielbox one" from Cundco right now.  :P)

That's been the standard for a little while now, since the Stickers and Little Buildings, at least. Too bad they don't sell Plague or Tunnels (or Corn Circles I) on the site.

I voted for the Spielbox version because of the increased interaction it has with Hills & Sheep. The Cundco version is just much more simple and boring to me.

Halb so wild I = Halflings I = spielbox version with the typical watermark symbol from spielbox

This version has no other expansions symbols on it.
----------------------------------
Halb so wild II = Halflings II = CundCo version with the watermark symbol from CundCo Shop (meeple with C inside)

This version has symbols of other expansions like sheep, hills and vineyards (Hills&Sheep) and crop circle
----------------------------------
I like both versions

I prefer the Spielbox version because it can be played as part of a campaign with any other expansions.  The Cundco version is great when playing with Hills and Sheep.

I have taken out the Hills and Sheep and Crop Circle tiles and mixed up the remainder so that there is a bigger variety of tiles available.

A final variation is for each player to take two tiles initially and then after placing a Halfling tile they then take a further tile from those remaining.

Naturally I play with these a lot!

I like the Halflings in general, but I prefer Halflings II purely because we rarely play with Hills and Sheep and I don't see the point of playing with Halflings I otherwise.

I had my first game of Halflings and Hills & Sheep this Christmas holiday. Was a 3P game with cousin and uncle. We all draw 2 random tiles from both I & II. (But I removed the Crop Circle before on purpose, because we were not playing with that.) Just one of the fitting tiles (with Hill) was drawn, though, the rest all had been from the Spielbox version. It was a fun combination anyway, but in the future, I might skip the Spielbox tiles, if we are combining with H&S and there are enough tiles from CundCo alone.
