After reading here
are and there on this forum I saw that some expansions are sold as original and the seller insists that they are. My concern arouse after playing Mega Carcassonne and being able to compare tiles. I could identify two expansions that have slightly different textured tiles compared to all of the rest. Those are: Die Katharer (Spielbox Carcassonne Almanac) and The Festival (Anniversary Edition). The texture is grid like, almost shiny and you can hear the grid when you quickly swipe the surface with finger nail.
If you have those, please confirm that it is normal and I don't own some forged ones. I must say that if these are not genuine, they are very good quality forgery and since I have an eye for details, I couldn't see how someone could have made these.

I can confirm that those two expansions are slightly different from the regular Carcassonne tiles. All tiles have a bit of a grid-like pattern from the linen texture, but the grid is more pronounced in those two expansions. Sounds like you got genuine tiles.

Confirmed.

;D Glad to hear that. I don't know why they made those two in this way but seems that are genuine. Thank you for the quick feedback.

I don't have Die Katharer, but when I bought The Festival from CarcassonneShoppe, I thought that either these tiles are not genuine, or in USA use different printing technics. Now I see that I'm not alone, and these tiles are truly genuine! :D

Oh my, I hope you didn't think we made fake tiles! I guess I should have put up a disclaimer :-\

If it would be something illegal, then all the community would know and tell that. But I trust the community here, so - no doubts ;) :D

The entire 10thAnn set is made that way - with the coarse linen grid.

Seems that it's not a new age technology creating these, Cathars has the same "problem" and it's old but the minis are seamless and blend perfect with the rest of the tiles. Odd

All the tiles in the BixBox4 have the other linen grid of paper and are darker.
I don't like the green from the BigBox4 tiles
