Title: New Expansion: German Monasteries Second Edition
Post by: Whaleyland on October 10, 2018, 03:02:53 PM
A re-release of Klöster in Deutschland (German Monasteries) has been announced prior to Essen Spiel. This will feature the original six monasteries in new art from Anne Pätzke. The number of tiles and watermark remains the same. No further information is available at this time.

I think it would look better if they added something around them to show where are they exactly located (f.ex. on a rock or hill). Just something like they did German Cathedrals. Before and even more now they look like they are in the middle of a field, which is probably not true.. but it's nice that they've done that even if they made it 1 to 1 in new graphic. Besides, they added some new buildings (like in first monastery) so they made them more correct from that point.  .. or maybe those old monasteries are still expanding :)

The contrast is high.  I think the artwork of the buildings look like they are high detail and in keeping with the new tiles.
The grass has to remain dull, but that's the nature of the cloister tiles.

Sometimes I start doubting about my choice to not collecting Carcassonne 2.0. This is an example which removes every doubt. It doesn't look good to be honest. The detail of the Monasteries is nice, but it just doesn't work with the rest of the tile. The grass annoys me every time.

I wonder if they will change a bit the rules to remove the ambiguity between the regular C2 abbot and the C1 German Monasteries abbot. I'm totally intrigued.

Will the C2 abbot the only meeple allowed to behave as an old C1 abbot on a German Monastery? Let's wait and see.
