Yo dudes! :(y)
It's been a while since I gave anything away, which is largely because my supply of "spare bits" has dwindled somewhat over recent years owning to previous giveaways and my total lack of any disposable income to replace anything. However, I am currently in possession of a number of tiles in both old and new artwork editions which have been signed by the main man himself - Klaus-Jürgen Wrede – that I'm looking to share with the community here.
I will be making these tiles available to anyone who doesn't already have one (so please be honest!) and will allocate them on a first come first served basis once I've posted here with a photo of the tiles that are up for grabs. If you'd like to claim one, please post here on this thread about your last game of Carcassonne along with any relevant details such as what colour you played, which expansions you included (if any) and who you're no longer speaking to as a result of events that transpired in the game. >:D
On a final note, all tiles will be free to a good home as long as this is what you intend to provide and aren't looking for something to put on eBay. :( :(n)
Stay tuned! :blue-meeple:
-
Thanks dude!!!
My last game was an element mashup with abbots, pigs, circus tents, and abbeys. Pictures below. I was RED per usual, was losing by a hair to my partner (Green) and then those damn circus animals added insult to injury ... I was fuming, but we're still on speaking terms ;D
Final score: 298 green to 240 red
* we used the vineyard tiles from Hills & Sheep as Abbot gardens, and spare BC&B / Catapault tiles for the circus tent

Very generous of you, Dan. Thank you in advance. Hopefully I'll be in time to claim one and tell about my last Carcassonne game (which I won, :green-meeple: :green-meeple: :green-meeple:)

A signed tile, it will be hard to me to don't put in my bag. But my last game, with all my new KS games was a little ago. Of course, may my bags of tiles could affraid everybody for a game, except my cat. Always the :black1-meeple: for me lol :black1-meeple:
-
Hi Dan:
Very generous of you! I would love to get a signed old art tile as I do not have one.
The last game I played was with my son and we were playing just the base game plus T&B and I&C. I was playing blue. After an epic battle over a large farm, my son beat me. :(
Thanks again!!!

Hi Dan,
What a kind and generous offer.
Our last game was while my wife and I were on holiday for a few days in the far reaches of the north west (of Scotland) in a nice little hotel - sadly the room we had looked out the back on grassy slopes, instead of the front of house view over the sea. Unfortunately, the tables in the residents lounge were too small (they were large enough for chess and scrabble, which were provided), and we didn't think that the diners would want the two of us playing Carc while they had their quiet romantic dinner, etc. So we headed back to our room where we didn't even have a table. But, by laying the large mirror on top of the foldable suitcase stand, we had an ideal size, but a limit to how far the land could extend. I'm sorry but I don't have a photo of a real game, but below is a mock up I made during the afternoon just to see if it would work. Before we left we did our best to clean the mirror as it was covered with lots and lots of fingerprints - what might the hotel staff have thought we were doing to cause that ...???
If I remember correctly, we pre-laid the section of coast (as shown), then started the actual game with laying out the river sections back to their sources, then carried on with the base game tiles, including a handful of things like inns, wells and gardens to try to fill up the mirror a bit more.

Hi Dan,
Could I please have the plain cloisters tile in original artwork?
To follow up on my original posting, the tile layout on the mirror was a sort of solo game. After placing the coast and river I pulled each tile from a bag and starting at the bottom right corner, and working horizontally to the left and then up row by row, placed the drawn tile in the first legal location. If multiple alignments (such as road corner or 3-way junction, then my choice. The idea was to build up the landscape without having any gaps. As shown, that didn't work and I think I missed one valid placement towards the end.
Thanks.

Thank you very much!

+1 Merit for your generosity!

Hello Dan! You know... I have my signed tile in old style, you give me last year... Buuuuut, if there will be some new edition signed tile unclaimed (the starting tile would be super!!!)... Well... You know... I'm here... With a game post obviously! :)
-
They aren't as good as the signed DAN tile that I have.
-
Hi Dan, thank you again for this wonderful gift! May I have the RRRR tile in old art?
-
Hi Dan,
I'd like to have one of the new art tiles please, one of the city tiles please; I don't mind which one. Thank you very much for your generosity.
During my last game we introduced the Tower expansion. We usually play very friendly, and that's why I love Carcassonne; it's generally a friendly game and brings all my friends together. Whilst I did enjoy the tactical aspect the Tower introduced, one of my friends brought along their new partner to our play group, and he played very aggressively. We might play without him next time :P
Thank you.
-
Hello Dan, might I claim the cloister with the road (old style)?
Before my last game, it took a while before my regular 3-guys gaming group played Carcassonne. Luckily, we had a fourth guest joining us. Unfortunately, I don't have any photos..
We always start with one basic rule: more tiles, less rules (sounds better in Dutch...)
So we played with the following expansion tiles:
- Inns and Cathedrals
- Traders and Builders
- Besiegers
- Abbey and Mayor
- GQ11
- King, Scout and Robber
The builder, mayor and big meeple were present as well.
During the game, it was obvious there were going to be 3 deciding factors: 2 big cities, (nullified with cathedrals and besiegers) and the main farm. I managed to win one of those cities while annoying the others enough with the city I couldn't get into. The main farm was more tricky. 3 of us were invested heavily in it, I even used my big meeple. The two others needed one particular tile to join in once more and gain the upperhand. They never came! I was able to grab the main farm and the win.
And now I can't wait to play again ;)

Hi Dan, I’d like new art cfff if possible.
My last game was about two and half weeks ago on what my friends and I like to call Monday Funday, every Monday me and five friends meet up to play board games and/or video games. Carcassonne is our go to game since I introduced just it after Christmas.
The only other time I’ve posted on the forums is way back then when I was asking for options on expansions but I’ve been lurking ever since. Since then I’ve also added 4 expansions and 3 mini expansions.
Anyway the last game we played included the base game, river and abbot, inns and cathedrals, traders and builders, the princess and the dragon, abbey and mayor, festival 2, the labyrinth and fruit trees. We included all of the tiles but not all of the rules, dragon, fairy and barns rules were not included. Everyone has their own colours they play every time, mine is yellow, which I picked because I knew no one else would want to be yellow, I tend to play yellow in most games now.
This has become our standard set up the least few plays and as you can imagine with 6 people playing it can take 2-3 hours to finish a game, some of us are starting to get Carcassonne fatigue because of this. So I’ve sorted out a selection of tiles/rules for the next game that I think will be a fun mix and will hopefully reduce playtime down to an hour.
Since I received Carcassonne for Christmas I have been firmly hooked, what a game!
-
Hello Dude,
I would like to have the still unclaimed CFCF-tile (old artwork) if possible.
My last real time game was a 4-player game where i introduced 2 rookies (2 friends of my girlfriend) to the world of Carcassonne. So, it was base game and Inns & cathedrals only to keep it simple. One of the rookies choose 100% for the pink meeples as she is totally into pink. I struggled to keep the blocking part of Carcassonne for what is was but i explained some situations where i could have blocked them. In the end, I won but more important, they both liked the game and asked for another time...they even asked to bring the Catapult with me when we do...and that would even be a first-timer for me!
Oh yeah, merit +1 from me for yet another generous action of you, Dan!
-
They aren't as good as the signed DAN tile that I have.
Ah but is it a signed Dan tile signed by KJW or is it the uber rare never to be seen again signed Dan tile signed by Dan! with the Travelling Dan meeples expansion.
-
KJW. If it was Dan signed I'd have asked for a KJW tile! Surely that is obvious? >:D
-
Hi Dan,

Hi Dan, I’d like new art cfff if possible.
Welcome to the forums worstzyraau and Clarky - and thanks for posting about your games! :(y)
I've updated the lists of claimed tiles so please let me know if I've got anything wrong. Also, don't forget to drop me a PM with your postal address if you have claimed something so that I know where to send it! C:-)
-
Hey Dan, the correct Dan ::)
First of all thank you for the opportunity to get a signed tile from KJW.
And as second I couldn't find a picture of the game, but I can tell it was a beautiful landscape ;)
My last game was with the wonderful Winter Edition. I played against my (at that time) Miss Sinscerly, if I remember correctly, but please don't kill me if I'm wrong she played with :blue-meeple: :blue-meeple: as she likes blue a lot. I played with :green-meeple: :green-meeple: against her :)
We played with a total of two copies of the Dutch Winter Edition with the gingerbread expansion in it(we left out the second ginger man, or it would get a big points party).
As normally she went so good at the beginning and I was trying hard to keep my head above the wave on the score track as she got points after points every round. But in the middel of the game we went around the same scoring. I took finally over sometimes the ginger man and went going up the ladder to the first position. But with the last tiles I couldn't complete my big city(yeah she started finally to block sometimes, well probably I had been better off if I didn't learned her to block ::)) but yeah that would be not really fair. So she got some points difference of around 15 points...
The score got pretty high with two Winter Editions but the landscape is so beautiful to look at ^-^. I really prefer the winter edition sometime above the normal, mostly when we go play without expansions.
If there are any old tiles left over with one of those amazing signings on it. Surprise me ;) I like those churches a lot and those beautiful castles oh and those lovely small french roads. And if the old ones are gone, well I will need to find a way to get attracted to that new art work then :))
-
Oh boi here we go!
It was the 12th of May my last game of Carcassonne, specifically in the National Qualifying Tournament that day, in the Shivano store, in my hometown Santiago, in Chile (a bit obvious I would say ::) ).
I arrived very early and anxious, having already tried about four times before reaching this point (not to mention the past years), and although I felt very nervous, I trusted myself and all the experience gained playing in previous tournaments and my practice.
People began to arrive, and when it was time to start, there were about 12 people. It was a small place, but we were able to accommodate ourselves perfectly. There were several familiar faces from previous tournaments, against which I won and lost equally.
We started, and my first game was with a player with whom I had competed a last date to take me the third place (the prize was an Epic, as a consolation prize), which after an intense duel, I won by wide difference, about 50 points . Some difficult farms marked the end of that game.
My second match was lost against a novice but very skilled player! He wbecause of blockades of meeples in a giant city, which did not reach completion, losing both a couple of followers on the road, but he took the most appetizing piece.
For the amount of people, everything would decide now. I had to win yes or yes if I wanted to go to Top 4. This game was strange, and very funny, I must admit. I played against someone very novice, so new, that with a single movement, I took a city of 6 points, and I blocked 3 monks with a single movement. Despite feeling a bit bad about myself, he did not take any notice and kept playing, until he finally realized his mistake, and took it with a lot of laughter. The game ended quickly, having won by more than 70 points, and still having time for the others to finish, play a friendly rematch, which I lost and several of our peasants were locked in closed roads >:D
Thanks to the large number of points I won, by tiebreak, I could enter the Top 4, remaining in third place. If he won, he goes to the Top 2, which would automatically qualify me for the national tournament. And my decisive match was with the player with whom I lost the second round :'(
Wow, what a game! Ignoring my strategy of starting with the farms as soon as possible, I let my opponent take them before me, so I concentrated on acquiring small and medium-sized cities. He, on the other hand, had a lot of luck with the cloisters, and then, I went back to the farms. Being that my opponent was tempted to spend all his meeples, I took advantage of taking everything I could, as I had during most of the game 3 meeples in my reserve 8) :blue-meeple:
We went head to head, looking like he would take the victory, when in the penultimate piece, I managed to make a city of 18 points, which solitarily began to form far from their domain ;) This was key, because I precisely won by 18 points, and of a draw, he would have won because of the difference of points won previously.
And I won. I did it. Alfin, after several years, I was able to acquire a sufficiently advanced level of play to get to play competitively. After that, with the winner of the other table, we desisted in playing, opting to share the prizes, we were already tired and exhausted from all this. He took an Exit and a Sushi Go, I a Checkpoint Charlie and a Kodama. The third and fourth, an Epic and a Star Realms.
Well, thats it! Thank you Dan for this gift to the community. I would like to claim for the frff, the cloister with road from the old art, if it is not too much to ask ;D
PD: I played with the blue color. It is my favorite color and personal cabal :blue-meeple: :blue-meeple: :blue-meeple:
PD 2: Whoops! The cloister was already taked :( doesn't matter, I claim the old-art cfrr tile left (never the frfr, NEVER)
-
Hi Dan! Well, in our last game I played Yellow (as per usual) and J played black. We added I&C, T&B, 10th anniversary and GQ expansions. Some day we will start playing with the river again (we used to always use it). Generally when we play T&B I get screwed out of goods tiles but this time I was closing cities left right and center. I decided not to bother much with farming until the last 2/3 of the game. J usually gets into farming a bit earlier than I do, and usually I just try to steal any farm that's big enough to warrant stealing. None of the farms were particularly juicy so I aimed to recoup as many meeples as I could by the last third of the game, and it actually paid off. There were a few cities well over 24 points courtesy of the cathedrals, so the scoring was a real horse-race the whole time. First J was ahead, then I blew past, and then he would catch up, and finally by game end J won by about 2 or 4 points. Still, it was a blast. :)
Any old-style tile would be preferable. I am never, Ever EVER parting with my beloved Carcassonne collection, certainly not with any piece sent as a gift.
Cheers,
Ian.

ok Dan... here my post!
our (my wife and me) last game (few hours ago)
Me = black ; my wife = Yellow
Components:
Starting tiles with River I and River II
base game + inns and catedral + traders and builders + The Festival + the flying machines + the 4 promo tiles
the beginning of the game was very individualistic. I was thinking about my business, as well as my wife. After a while the fighting started ... I got the better of many challenges, stealing points from cities, roads using my big follower and accumulating lots of resources. Shortly after the half of the game, my wife occupied what seemed to be the best field and, with subsequent plays, precluded me from entering. Having renounced the idea of doing war on that field, I decided to occupy two small fields and make my own business! but, over time, she too was able to accumulate a lot of resources and, until the end of the game, the result remained uncertain ... and in fact ...
I managed to win for a point of difference! : D
Black 266 VP Vs Yellow 265 VP
yeeeee
now my wife hates me ... but I feel good ... I won! heheh

Hello everybody and thanks again Dan for this wonderful opportunity; the Fantreff in July will be a nice occasion to replenish the pool of tiles ;)
Yesterday evening I played 2 nice games; the first one with a friend who came just passing by to say hello, but as always, it is often the occasion to challenge me on 1 on 1 old style Carcassonne. I will not elaborate so much on this game but I won by a large margin of 1 point O0
The most interesting game was the one after where my girlfriend challenged us and entered a new round. Our 16 Month old daughter was rampaging in the living room so it was base game only
Game started slowly and I was gaining a couple points and entering interesting fields really early since a big battle for a city was exploding between the other 2 ones and I couldn't be part of it.
They had 1 guy each, then two each and then my girlfriend made a big mistake by not cutting a third guy from the other opponent, she realised this mistake just after we explained her and she was so pissed that she attracted the god of luck and managed to sneak an almost impossible 3rd guy into it within the next 3 turns.
The thing was I was 99% sure this city would never be finished beccause of tile repartition... but it was; and quite a big one, 36 points :'(. From then I knew the victory would be hard, especially after they claimed back 3 meeples each.
I was able to secure most of the interesting fields in the meantime but it wasn't enough to take the lead, girfriend won with :blue-meeple: with 106 points; then me :green-meeple: with 98 points and poor friend again just behind me :black1-meeple: with 96 points.
She then teased us the whole evening: "you know I never like fields and since you always have them in the end I didn't even look into it" gnagnagnagnagna :-X
Carcassonne always makes for a good fun !
If still possible, I don't think anybody claimed the RCFR tile in old art.
Thanks again Dan !
-
Sorry for the prolonged silence from me guys.
Please know that I'm not backing out of the promises I've made here and will be posting tiles soon (provided I have your address).
-
I hope I'm not too late Dan, the claimed list still shows some available.
Last game I played was from Carcassonne: Amazonas with the promo tiles at my FGLS boardgame night. I played :blue-meeple: as always, but totally lost! They never played this version before, so I was glad I got to bring it. The river was not in my favor, maybe its because I keep forgetting the move up rule, lol. I did a pretty big Jungle though of I believe 16?
Either the CRFR with the farm or the CFCF in the new art style. But any tile is welcomed, new style preffered.
-
I've got a bit of time to sort everything out this afternoon so I'm trying to get everything ready for the post office:

@aenima - you've been promoted from the waiting list! ;) You didn't specify a tile though so I chose the cfcf from the new art tiles for you. Please post here ASAP if you'd prefer a different tile.
Everyone else - please check this post (http://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?topic=3982.msg58710#msg58710) so you know what to expect!

Hello again.
I've just been going through PMs for addresses and there are a couple of people whose addresses I still need.
If you're one of the lucky few you will have received a PM from me a few moments ago. Please respond to this as soon as convenient so I can get everything in the post soon!
Dan :blue-meeple: :(y)
EDIT: Also, if you've changed address since telling me your address please make arrangements to go back and live at your old address again if you hope to receive your tile. Or let me know your new address. Whichever's easiest.

Actually there were two crfr tiles available so I've put you down for one of those instead. Neither of them have the special back to them so they're not officially starting tiles, but hopefully that won't matter to you too much.

I’ve been busy and just noticed this post. I know in the past I received an old art signed tile, but if it’s not too late I would really like a new art signed tile since my entire collection is new art. I don’t care what features it has on it.
-
Hi!
I'm quite new to this forum and check in sometimes. I saw this post and just wonder if I'm too late to wish a tile. Because my whole collection is in new art style, I would really like one. Nor do I care about what features it has on it.
During our latest game we included river, catapult and traders & builders. I always plays in black and this time I lost to my wife and was punished to cook the food. :(
-
Hello Mikeagan and Robertit! :)
I'd be very happy to send you a tile. However, I must first refer you to this post (http://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?topic=3982.msg58704#msg58704), or more particularly this:
If you'd like to claim one, please post here on this thread about your last game of Carcassonne along with any relevant details such as what colour you played, which expansions you included (if any) and who you're no longer speaking to as a result of events that transpired in the game. >:D
Once you've done this, please PM me with your address and I'll send a tile your way! :(y)

Hi danisthirty, just notice this wonderful giveaway.
As a matter of fact i just played a Carcassonne Star Wars Game this morning just after an escape game, i played Red (and Luke), i must admit i won stealing 2 planets on the last 2 turns. First time i played this version of Carcasonne.
If there's still a tile available, i'd really love to have an old art one, even if it means making it into the waiting list ;)
Cheers !

I'm afraid all the old artwork tiles have been claimed, but there's still one new art tile if you'd like me to put your name against it?
-
Perhaps I can help there - Will need to take a photo of the few I've got available though!
-
OK, I have 14 padded envelopes loaded, sealed and labelled. Recipients will be as follows:
Old art:- wolnic, NorseScotsman, mPony, Sinscerly, Valheru, chicago_red, Xanderx12
New art:- aenima, totor66, worstzyraau, Dragonlord, TheDoctor_13, Robertit, Clarky
@thodekey: I have an old art tile ready to go to you but need you to confirm your address before I send it. You should have a couple of PMs about this...
I also have one new art tile left which remains unclaimed. Yes it's a boring ffrr but just think how much you love turning these over as the last tile when you know it means you can glom onto your opponent's farm to win you the game!

Can you send the old tile to Chartreusito? Though Halfling - I've not heard about your last game!
-
Thanks thodekey.
3 parcels are currently on their way to Canada. 2 more are on their way to the US.
Others will be posted next week.
Dan :(y)
-
It's really cool :black1-meeple:
-
Yes I can send the signed river tile to chartreusito.
Yesterday I played hunters and gatherers during my lunch hour against Praveen a colleague from India. I had an easy win to avenge my loss by 3 points the day before.
My last new art game was two weeks ago. Myself, Praveen, Neil and Paul had approx 100 tiles. Base game, river 1,Hills and sheep and Abbots. I started well but alas couldn't finish the pesky monastery on the river. I should have used the Abbot so I could have claimed him back. A farming war broke out thanks to the hills. I wasted two meeples on that farm before giving up on it and concentrating on cities and roads. I got a couple of small farms for 9 points at the end it was well beaten.
Final scores
Paul 121
Neil 98
Halfling 87
Praveen 80.
We play again next Tuesday.
-
Thanks Halfling.
I'm sure I already have your address somewhere, but please PM me with it again and I'll send you the last tile.
Thanks,
Dan

Done. Please can I have your address Chartreusito.

I've recently taken Carcassonne to work.
On the first week I played with 1 person.
On the next week another.
The week after we had 5 players.
Then the week after 3 different players joined us.
On Tuesday this week we had 8 people playing (2 games of 4).
Then on Thursday this week we had 6 people (2x3).
For an office with 25 ppl in it's been really popular!

For an office with 25 ppl in it's been really popular!
Nice, I have 4 regulars plus myself and 3 others who gave played occasionally, and 2 others who have now left the company. We play a mega game once a quarter on an evening, the next is 5th Sept.....but office has 330 people in it!
There are others who play Viticulture, Flamme Rouge and the like too.

Our games are not quite under the 45min mark. So haven't added any expasions. I will introduce the abbot next week. A couple more and we'll have Inns and Cathedrals out hopefully!
-
We stick to games with approx. 100 tiles
Base + River I + Under the Big Top + Abbot is a favourite at the moment, sometimes with Ferries or Flyers added too.
Just about all other major expansions have been used except Catapult and Castles, Bridges & Bazaars as neither are favoured.
We've used all the 6 mini expansions (Messages and Robbers do my head in keeping the scoring correct and playing)
We use the old/original/classic art if we play Wheel of Fortune or The Plague. (Damn those pesky fleas)

Many thanks, Dan. Tile and travelling man, arrived with today's post (northern UK).

Thanks Dan. My third bearded meeple plus the signed tile arrived today. Many thanks
Played the first game with the signed tile. Base game, river 1 and under the big top. I beat my nephew despite not gaining any points when the elephant appeared. We did share a flea circus point each though
Anyone else find it easier to balance the third acrobat meeple upside down? Or is it just me!?
-
Many thanks to everyone who has contributed towards postage; it really makes a difference! :) :(y)

I'm still need to add a picture of all what arrived this month. Today I received a board game expansions for Codenames.
Also the Tunnel Tiles for Isle of Skye
The long waiting has been paid off, I love that meeple. And yes this will get a special space in my collection. Well I still need to make some space for some of my big expansions in my Big Box, but it will get a special place. :D

Travelling Dan came with me for a weekend with some hillwalking friends in the Cairngorms (large area of high mountains in Scotland). TDan climbed his first "Munro" (a Scottish mountain over 3000 feet) on Saturday. We had amazing weather. Here are a couple of photos - the first of him at lunchtime enjoying a welcome cuppa in the middle of the The Great Moss (or Moine Mhor in Gaelic), and the second, on the summit of the Munro, Mullach Clach a'Bhlair (not a particularly well-known, high, or significant Munro) which lies on the western edge of the main Cairngorm massif (it's not snow, just a lump of white quartzite rock that forms the top of the cairn!).
-
Great photos! Thanks for allowing him to tag along :) :(y)
Also, it looks like you win at weekends. I spent all day Sunday in the garden painting the shed and my den. Despite being somewhat out of shape (unless the shape in question is a circle) I would have loved to have been doing something adventurous like you!
-
Despite all being retired ... :(y) ... traditionally we have a "boys" weekend away twice per year to climb some hills (Scotland usually, but have been to the Lake District a few times). There's a group of about 10-12 of us, and we usually manage at least 8 attending. It's a combination of (hopefully) good weather, a lot of fresh air, good company, good food and the odd pint or two. I may also get away one midweek day, closer to home, as it's a good way of de-stressing.
-
This was the view TDan had across the Moine Mhor. The peaks are about 5-6km away, but our summit was behind the camera on this occasion. Definitely a much better option to painting the shed ...

there is still nothing for me :(
