Which is your favourite Carcassonne mini?
:black-meeple:
-
The Ferries is the only one of the minis (including Corn Circles II) that I would consider playing regularly. The other ones are too finicky or require too much maintenance.
-
I agree Ferries seems to be the best, that is until we get to use the farm detours variation on Ferries that Carcking is working on.
-
The only two that I own - that is, the only two I was interested in buying - are the Ferries and Mage and Witch. I only got them recently so I haven't played much with them but I like them both, especially when played with Inns and Cathedrals.
I voted for Mage and Witch in the poll because I figured most people would vote for the Ferries.
-
I voted for mage and witch,
When i play i put automaticly mage and witch, inns and cathedrals, builder and basegame
-
I voted for Mage and Witch because you can create awesome combos with it and it's composed from both the elements that help you and the elements that make your opponents life harder. :black-meeple:

And also it't the rarest of all six...

Actually I find this post very interesting, I almost always leave ferries, mage and witch and the robber aside. The ones I play most are the fliers, the Messengers and gold mines. Of them I voted messengers, because I love getting those extra points for what I have and it changes the strategy somehow, since I want to get as mant messages as posible.
-
I choose The Flyers. ;D
We usually play with all six and been thinking of getting another batch some day. All of them still available here for 4 Euro each.
Update: Goldmines is my second favourite.
-
I voted for the Ferries, but we also use the Gold Mine and the Mage and Witch every time we play with the real game (as opposed to the electronic version).
The Flyer also sees a lot of use, in terms of being included, but far too often the tile you can use to fly you meeple just won't point the direction you need!
-
You forgot to include The Crop Circles in your poll.
Order of preference from most liked to least liked:
1. Mage & Witch
2. The Messengers
3. The Gold Mines
4. The Flying Machines
5. The Crop Circles
6. The Ferries
7. The Robbers
However, my group has made a few rule changes that we find helpful in mega games (250+ tiles, 3 players):
1. We never play with The Robbers. Too cheap for us.
2. We don't use the extra messenger meeple when playing with the messenger mini-expansion because it results in way too many opportunities to draw a messenger tile.
3. The messenger tile for "removing a man and scoring him" cannot be applied to farmers. In mega games with beseiged castles and windmills, farms can be worth a hundred or more points. Way too cheap to be able to get all those points on a single turn, especially when the farm is large enough to allow the player to easily re-connect another farmer to it on a future turn.
4. We put our messenger tiles in a small bin, so that they can be selected at random. By playing the suggested way, and especially with using the extra messenger meeples, the order of the messenger benefits is too easily remembered and so you can plan out when you want to go for a messenger tile when the specific one you want is at the top of the stack. Too cheap.
5. We've made several additional, custom tiles with the mage & witch symbol and have included the possibility of maging or witching monasteries.
6. We move the mage or witch at the end of a turn in which a magic tile was drawn, so that you cannot escape the effects prior to scoring.
7. We play with 2 Gold mine expansions and have changed up the rules. Individual gold ingots don't have a point value. Instead, similar to the King and Baron expansion, whoever has the most gold gets "The Goldsmith" tile. Whoever has The Goldsmith tile at the end of the game gets 35 points.

I voted Mage & Witch but if it had been top 2 I would have voted for Goldmines as well. I think these add to the game without taking anything away from it and have been best received when I've played them within my group. Personally I'm not a fan of Robbers or Messengers and the only experiences I've had of Flyers have been very frustrating ones so it doesn't get used a lot...

I looked at Messages and Robbers, I don't like the mechanic or tile design particularly but I plan to buy both today as they have distinct Meeples and I plan to find another use for the followers in the game . Also plan to get a set of Meeple coloured dice to use on the scoring track. It just never ends. :(
