The Marketplace / I have waited too long for more abbot's
« on: March 13, 2018, 07:21:01 AM »
So I have a plan but I need help. If I buy another big box of the new art, I get 180 tiles I don't need but some abbot's that I can paint. Cost me about £48 including shipping.
I sell base game tiles plus meeples for £15
Each major expansion including associated wood for £5
Each mini expansion £2.50
River £2.5
50/100 tiles £1.5
Score board £1.5

I would break even. (in reality I likely get left with messages! But I can live with that)

Anyone interested in helping Halfling with my 2018 hare-brained idea?

Reviews & Session Reports / Halflings first big game with expansion 10
« on: January 23, 2018, 11:37:50 PM »
I now have enough of the new tiles to play a big game with the following this evening with 3 colleagues after work.  I will be interested to see if we get the usual 'big top chasers' given that the 12 tiles will in theory take longer to surface with double the number of tiles.

Base Game + River I
Inns & Cathedrals
Traders & Builders
Abbey & Mayor
Under the Big Top
The Flyers
Witch & Mage
Gold Mines
Labyrinth
Festival
Phantoms

Approximately 200 tiles from memory - Match report later

General / Carcassonne with Teams of 2 (or more players)
« on: October 14, 2017, 05:04:01 AM »
I guess a few of us have more than one base game or equivalent (I have the wheel of fortune and soon will also have the 2017 big box) allowing teams to play, 2 vs 2, where the team both use the same colour meeples.

I'm planning a Red vs Blue game with 4 players. 14 vs 14 meeples....although, I could add in a plastic meeple per player from the 10th Anniversary edition so that we all get a 'phantom'.

Has anyone else played team Carcassonne games?  Which rules / expansions did/did not work for you?

Other Games / Talisman
« on: August 31, 2017, 12:40:06 PM »
It's over 30 years old...but I have just discovered Talisman, 2nd edition.  It was a game at the holiday let that we stayed in a couple of weeks ago.  Total die based luck but it is enjoyable and my daughter is totally hooked.  Who knew I had a D&D daughter?

Her favourite character is Prophetess.
I've played half a dozen characters (Assassin, Thief, Minstrel, Witch Doctor, Ghoul & Wizard) and don't have a favourite yet.  I'll try the mighty Troll next.

We have bought the base game, the Adventure expansion and the White Dwarf #115 expansion - all 2nd edition.

Anyone else play Talisman...or have any 2nd edition expansions (In English) for sale?

I'll consider swapping classic Carcassonne expansions (just ask - it may be available!) or cash.

Quizzes, Puzzles and Challenges / The Missing 73rd Tile?
« on: May 28, 2017, 03:49:07 AM »
In the beginning there was "The Concept".

Next there was the cunning decision to use the magic number "72".  One can print in batches of 12 and it is a number ideal for 2, 3, 4 but not 5 [ we'll fix that later ] players.

Then there was the "Play Testing" and "The Rules" and betwixt and between there was the "Cock-up".  For someone maketh the decision that there must be a tile on the table at the commencement of proceedings.  This then leaves 71 playable tiles which is devisable by 'not-a-lot'.

Thus the question to follow all the not-getting-to-the-point-quickly-enough is this.........

What design should the 'other' tile, the missing 73rd tile have been?

I can't offer a Spiel de Jahres trophy, but there are a few things that I have from which a prize can be chosen and posted to the forumee who posteth the tile design that I agree is the one that I would have included back in the day.

(Obviously the rule to have a tile on the table could've been over-ruled - but that is a completely different discussion IMHO)

So, what sayeth the populous of Carcassonne Central?

I just picked by a RGG version of the base game with the stone edition scoring track. It is the first time that I have seen one. Is it particularly rare?

Good luck with 3 and 4 player games. I much prefer multi player games of Carcassonne.

Anyone organising a UK meet to practice 4 player games prior to the UK champs?
