Carcassonne in Japan
« on: January 01, 2015, 04:26:57 AM »
It looks like Carcassonne is taken pretty seriously in Japan, I just wondered if any of the completionists here had seen these:

https://sv84.wadax.ne.jp/~mobius-games-co-jp/shop/1_1230.html

Looks like they're out of print now, but they're two "Carcassone Strongest Teaching" books containing Championship Rankings and Tactics and various other things that are lost in translation!

This looks like the official site:

I just thought the manga take on the artwork was fun so wanted to share!

Found some more images - looks like it's now a three book series:

No wonder, since the reigning world champion is from Japan!

I'd love to read a properly translated version of some of those books of tactics...

Me too. It's difficult to conceive they include anything more than we already know. That's the curiousity.
I just drew the perfect tile for my MonKnighThieFarmer!

I've been very slowly translating a break down of skills.

What is interesting, and helpful, is having a systematic approach to learning a skill.  So, for example, the books categories 'Tile Skills' being broken down into steps like:  i) Being aware of what tiles are in the deck is the first skill.  ii) Being able to score non-completed elements, iii) Being able to determine what tiles are left in a set iii) Being aware of the importance of a particular tile iv) Being able to determine the number of occurrences of all the remaining tiles.

So far my favourite translation has been MIPURU == meeple; that took me a while.

I'll keep posting skills up as I work through the list.
