Rules particularities
« on: October 17, 2013, 02:25:44 PM »
I'm a bit new to Carcassone, but already bought several expansions for it and played quite a few games. Everything's clear except several nuances, I'd like to clarify.

The Pricess & The Dragon

1. When you put a tile with pricess how do you exactly remove knights? Do you remove other players' followers or also have to remove your own ones, if you add a tile with princess to your castle?

2. If you add a tile with princess to someone's city, remove his knight and finish the city, will anyone get any scores for it?

3. How builder works, if you remove someone's follower from the castke or road? Rules say, that you can put builder only when follower already exists in certain object. Should you also remove builder, if you remove knight from the city with the dragon, for example?

4. Can anybody explain me this rule? I'm super confused.

If a player starts his turn with a follower on the tile where the fairy is, he scores 1 point immediately!

Castles, Bridges & Bazaars

5. Does bazaar split the road into 2 ones on certain tiles? I mean, when there's one straight road on the tile and a bazaar in the middle of it.

6. If you own a castle and finish an object in it's vicinity, do you get double score - for finished object and castle separately?

1. You may remove your own follower, too, but you don't have to (it's in the BigBox rules).

2. If there isn't any knight in the city no one scores.

3. When you remove a follower and there is no other follower of that colour, the builder also has to be removed.

4. Before drawing a tile look for the fairy. If she's on a tile whith one of your followers score 1 point, then draw your next tile.

5. The bazaar splits the road.

6. simply: Yes!

Hey monkeyman, welcome to the CC forum, also known as CarcC. Glad to have you along!

You'll need to be careful with the use of the word "castle". I believe the feature you are generally referring to in your questions is a "city" although you seem to use both words interchangeably. A castle and a city are different features, rules apply differently and they score completely differently.

In your question #6 you didn't specify if you owned the object in the castle's vicinity. If you own it then you score for it and also for the castle, so it would seem as a double score. If you don't own it you only score for the castle, and so, no double score.

Happy Carcking!
I just drew the perfect tile for my MonKnighThieFarmer!

Thank you very much for explanation. A couple adjustments, if you don't mind.

1. You may remove your own follower, too, but you don't have to (it's in the BigBox rules).

So I can add a princess to someone's city  and remove one of the other players' followers?

4. Before drawing a tile look for the fairy. If she's on a tile whith one of your followers score 1 point, then draw your next tile.

Does it mean, you get 1 point each turn, if you have a fairy standing beside your follower until a follower removed?

Well, castle is one shaped tile, city is the object you built from several tiles. Pretty clear to me and I don't mix'em.

I see now, thank you. Seems pretty illogical to me, but well... rules are rules.

Just wanted to make sure to eliminate any potential confusion.

This is a typical City tile. Whether it's one tile or several tiles, they are City tiles. The City is scored when the several tiles form a complete city enclosure.

This is a Castle, which is a token that you place on a football shaped city. It is only scored if another feature in it's 6-tile vicinity is scored.

Example of three Cities in the vicinity of a Castle.

I hope that helps.

a football shaped city.

Football:

A game where you kick a ball with your feet.

Handegg:

A game where you carry an egg around in your hands.

Very nice Tobias! I have to say though, that is the first time I've heard the term Handegg. So that's a new on me.
I'm looking forward to watching a few games of Handegg today!  :D

monkeyman: Actually, you did mix it up - twice - in your first post:
