Full writeup to come, but I wanted to note the scores before I lose them. It was a win for... khalid >:(

Game 1: khalid (started) - 108 : 93 - danisthirty

Game 2: khalid - 84 : 77 - danisthirty (started)

Two very similar games won by the better player on the night (and most nights so it seems).

Stupid Carcassonne.

Game#1 (Starting player: Chooselife)
:yellow-meeple: Chooselife   70
:red-meeple: Jéré             86

First game was quite close. I had no meeples left in my supply for the last few tiles which was a bit stressful, just played defensively to prevent Chooselife from winning the fields (12 & 9 pts).

Game#2 (Starting player: Jéré)
:red-meeple: Jéré            110
:yellow-meeple: Chooselife  76

Was a bit surprised to see Chooselife miss several occasions to block my meeples. Meanwhile, I blocked two of his guys... that plus one lucky tile at the end helped me to win with a big margin.

Thanks for the games and good luck for the rest of the league.  :(y)

MrNumbers vs. TheSteveAllen
119:103
104:68

First game was almost even, except the moment when Steve chose to close the road instead of escaping the trap for his two followers. We shared two medium-sized cities, that's why my city scores are higher, which made the main difference.

The second game reminded me
this game (http://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?topic=830.msg9126#msg9126) a little bit >:D I had control on both big farms and successfully prevented 3 Steve's followers from joining the party :P That's why my only competed road in this game is that 5-point road in the North, all other road tiles were used for the reason described above.

Good luck with the rest of the tournament, Steve!

Thanks for the write up of the games MrNumbers. I really enjoyed the first one, and got really frustrated with the second. I'm glad to see that I am not the only person that you have given the defend-the-farm-at-all-costs treatment!  ;D

Best of luck with the rest of the competition MrNumbers. Next time I play you, I will do a bit of farmyard defence revision beforehand!

Leven and I finished two astonishing games. We had the first draw in this league :-)

1.Game: GLH510 (Home) 79 : Leven 67
2.Game: Leven(Home) 91 : 91

Leven will post the screenshots and sum up both games.
In the second game he played extremely impressive against the bad luck of card drawing.

I've played two thrilling games with GLH510. Here are the results (starting player first):

:green-meeple: GLH510 vs :violet-meeple: Leven 79:67

A balanced game with lots of stuck followers. GLH510 was able to join a second farmer to the main farm near the end and then it was too late for me to do the same. Winning that farm secured a home win for my opponent.

:violet-meeple: Leven vs :green-meeple: GLH510 91:91

Throughout the game I had the feeling: this was not my game. Nothing worked really for me while my opponent played very well and built a 20 point lead quite early. Moreover, he had all his meeples in his supply (!), while I was struggling to gain any points (for a long period I didn't get a single city closer tile). I knew I had to win the largest farm to have a final result around a tie. In the end I managed to do this but I needed some luck with the last tiles to avoid another defeat. Both my last tile and GLH's last tile was a CCFF, but mine included a pennant. :o

Thanks for these great games, GLH.

Our first draw! As much as I thought about how to handle these, I was never 100% on how they should affect scores. For now I've put the result of match 61 down as 2 - 1 to glh510 with the point distribution being the same as if it had been a 2 - 0 defeat. Any suggestions?

Hounk and I are probably playing on Fri (or over the weekend)

Good luck with your game! I don't know for sure, but please be aware that you might have to upgrade to the latest version of JCZ if you want to play your match on the online server.

Halfling, What If?, Adrornalin and Rosco: any updates?

Any reason why you wouldn't want to give half points? Personally, I'd give 1.5 to glh510 and 0.5 to Leven but maybe you wanted to avoid this for a reason I can't think of right now.

I can't avoid things I hadn't thought of...

My thinking was that if a game is a draw neither player has won. So the outcome of the match would be decided by the winner of the other game. This doesn't seem quite right though, as it does feel like a draw should be rewarded even if the player lost the other game (and consequently the match). I'd be happy to go with 1.5 / 0.5 if others think it's fair/ fitting but am keen to gather opinions at this stage.

Did I misunderstand your league opener post where you defined the rules of the point distribution?
I thought when there is a win and a draw, one of the players gets 2 points and the other gets 1.

If the match is won (2 games - 0), the winner gets 2 league points and the loser gets nothing. If the match is tied (1 game each), both players get 1 league point. If either (or both) game(s) results in a draw, the match could end with scores of 2 - 2 (both games tied - fairly unlikely) or 2 - 1 (a win and a draw). A result of 2 - 2 is treated as a normal tie and each player is awarded 1 league point.

I wrote a pm to Rosco two days ago but he is probably busy. I am back online on Monday so hopefully we can play beginning of next week. Are we still in time then?

A draw should be rewarded with 0,5 pts is my opinion too. I think this wont be the last draw in this league because games are often very close in bg.

I still think that Dan's initial post of this league (http://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?topic=3108.msg46053#msg46053) declared that in case of a win and a draw the players receive 2 and 1 pt.
And I'm not the only one who understood that sentence this way:

If I understood correctly Dan scoring Wins score 1 point and Draws score 0,5Points (which need to be rounded up so we can have a 2-1 scoring on a one win and one draw situation)

And there's kettlefish whose x-score list wasn't appropriate for this league because of the different scoring system. As I see it actually the win+draw case was the main difference. Or am I wrong?

Two enjoyable games of blocking and trapping with Rich the Fish tonight. Both won by the starting player First one, I was on the lucky side, with 2 farms won out 2:0, one by Rich and one by me, but mine was the bigger one, which won me the game 102:93.

Rich_The_Fish v Hounk - Game 2

Final scores:
 :red-meeple: 82 - Rich_The_Fish (start player)
 :green-meeple: 69 - Hounk

A very close game with the outcome only decided right at the end.
[I'll write up the game in a bit of detail in the morning]

I would expect 0.5 each for a tied game.

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner Leven. To be honest, I wasn't even aware that I'd left that in the rules (it was possibly copy-pasted from somewhere else and left in by accident) but since it's there it would be unfair of me to change it so the 2 - 1 scoreline will remain. C:-)

For future reference though, I think the 1.5 / 0.5 is possibly a better fit as I like the idea that each match has 2 league points given to it which are dealt out between the two players depending on the outcome of that match (2 - 0 or 1 - 1). If it's 2 - 1 then it's almost like that match had an extra point to give away, just because one of the games was tied. Also, if the other game had been tied in the match between Leven and glh510, the overall result of the match would have been a tie and the scores would have been 1 - 1. In this case, Leven gets 1 point anyway so isn't really penalised in any way for losing the second game (rather than it being another draw).

But what's said/ written is said/ written. Let's play on! :) :(y)

In the first game I focussed several turns in a row on doing stupid things. And I succeeded! For example placing a farmer far away from any city and try to connect it to another non-existing "farm".
Second game went better but I was not able to take the lead. Congratulations Rosco and thanks for playing. Looking forward to the next lea.. ehm round I mean ; )

Results are here:

And we have a new leader! The pressure is definitely on now, especially with Jere and Leven both still needing to have their "sitting out" rounds. A lot can (and undoubtedly will) change over the next 7 rounds though. Speaking of which...

Round 9 (http://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?topic=3332.msg49532#msg49532) is now live! 8)

It displays on your laptop because you have authorized once on Decar's server, where the file is uploaded, so you don't need additional authentication. But we do :)

I had a problem with the site I usually use for hosting images and so decided to try and use Decar's server as he gave me access to it once. I haven't uploaded anything for years though, and probably did something wrong, hence the message about logging in.
