Thanks for the replies. I did pretty much get 1 of everything I didn't have. I would've also gotten the Festival if they didn't sell out a couple weeks prior to placing the order. Also I was contemplating getting the :violet-meeple: :pink-meeple: :orange-meeple:  :white-meeple: and  :brown-meeple: sets but with no good/reasonable way to get phantoms in those colors I passed on the sets for now. Might reconsider them if Cundco has enough things on offer for Easter that I don't have, :)

So, ever since I placed my order I have been waiting for the day I could finally post in this thread, :gray-meeple:

How exciting! I hope they continue to keep the classic art style.
No reason they can't! In fact if you noticed, they back-ported the Abbot and Gardens expansion to the classic art style. Also, if you remember when you opt for the winter/Gingerbread expansion it makes everything be the winter theme. So even if they wanted to port everything to the new art style there is no reason they couldn't let us keep the classic art style.

Might be interesting how they'd handle that though because in order to get the winter theme you have to play with the winter expansion but how would you get the new art style? I mean you'd've thought that the Abbot expansion would've done it, but nope.

Ok, well I should clarify that last month I placed a sizeable (sizeable for me at least) order from Cundco that included pretty much every mini expansion they currently had plus a boxed copy of Hills and Sheep, since I never did get that one in English. The shipping on the order ended up being $25+. I do know that Cundco does offer cheap shipping like you said if the item/package is small enough. My point was that as long as this idea of yours would be sufficiently small enough to stay within the cheap shipping threshold that I would then be interested,  :red-meeple:

I love the idea in theory but realistically I'd only be interested if the shipping costs were right. I'm from the US and if I had to order via Cundco for this one off reprint I'd be ok with that if the shipping wouldn't be more than the cost of the item. As for the expansions noted I would be interested in Corn Circles 1, Besiegers, and River 3 (specifically just the 4 unique tiles with sheep and vineyards but would gladly take the other 8 to get these 4). Also, if we limit this only to expansions produced by HiG (and not spielbox, etc.) then about the only expansion I see that they did that I don't have that's hard to find is the Tunnels but that isn't a tiles only expansion. I also don't have the Festival but I assume that one is still relatively easy to get (even if it is sold out at Cundco).

Basically, noting the stated limitations the idea you have is a good one that I will certainly support if I could reasonably do so. I also think that the KS route could be a good one because it would allow to really gauge the actual interest without requiring anyone to put out a ton of money upfront.

So I did have a thought. I probably couldn't get a full set of Abbots from CundCo but I should probably get a :gray-meeple: Abbot because a base copy of CC II would get me a :red-meeple: :green-meeple: :blue-meeple: :yellow-meeple: and :black1-meeple: Abbot but getting a new art copy of Inns & Cathedrals wouldn't get me a :gray-meeple: Abbot but rather a :pink-meeple: Abbot.

We have great section here - Crafter's guild. There you can find information about printing on tiles. Some helpful topics: one, two, three.

As for abbots, I heard that Cundco offers them, but I am not sure. Let someone else answer that question.

Thanks for the reply. I read your first suggestion, and it definitely seems like an option I could handle. I have access to a laser printer and all that so I would just need to get the right paper which shouldn't be a problem.

As for the abbots, if I could get them from CundCo that'd be great but then again when I look at the website they make a note of saying the following, "Der Abt ist generell nicht als Ersatzteil erhältlich! Einzelne, verloren gegangene Äbte können ersetzt werden, jedoch keine ganzen Sätze!" which according to Google Translate translate as follows, "The abbot is generally not available as a spare part! Individual, lost abbots can be replaced, but not whole sentences!"

General / Couple of questions
« on: December 01, 2016, 09:55:09 PM »
Hello there,

I've been eyeing up a nice, fair-sized order from CundCo as a nice holiday present. I had a couple of questions though. I've only tonight discovered amazing users on the other forum have ported some of the new art expansions to the old art style. I found them available as individual jpgs for each tile and together as a "sheet" in a pdf file. First question is, does anyone have any good tips or suggestions for how to get the artwork onto blank tiles? Do I print directly on the tiles, print on paper and glue the paper on, print on sticker paper and sticker it on the tile, or something else? If printing, in any form, what kind of printer / print settings should I use. If printing, is it a printing a place like Staples or a local print shop could handle?

Last question, with this in mind, if I was to get the gardens / abbot mini expansion in the old art style, other than buying a copy of CCII, where else could I get the abbots in :red-meeple: :yellow-meeple: :green-meeple: :blue-meeple: :black1-meeple: and :gray-meeple:?

Official Rules / Re: CAR for Carcassonne v2
« on: October 28, 2016, 09:28:30 PM »
While the idea of retiring the current CAR and making a CAR for Carcassonne 2.0 is nice in theory, I don't ever see it happening. Yes new expansions are now only being made in the new artwork (See the Temples in Japan and The Watchtowers as proof) but I've read (but not yet seen, links or pics would be nice) of fans adapting these new artwork expansions to the old artwork style. This allows fans of the old artwork style to enjoy the new expansions. As long as this is a thing then so be it the job of the CAR to cover the rules of these new expansions and how they interact with others.

What country are you based?  Hills and Sheep is still pretty available - I ordered BB5 a few days ago and HiG have it on their shop.  I saw copies for sale in the US when I was there last September too.

I am based in the U.S. PA to be specific. I just checked the popular US gaming sites (Amazon.com, Coolstuffinc.com, and cardhaus.com) and none of them have Hills and Sheep in stock. Unrelated but further proof to Whaleyland's point of doing a Kickstarter is that I did just spot a nice copy of the rare The Tunnels expansion on ebay but the seller wants $40. Not saying that's a bad price for such a rare expansion but a kickstarter as suggested would hopefully make expansions just like The Tunnels available for a much more reasonable price.

If I am being honest. I love Carcassonne. I have almost every boxed expansion from Z-Man games. Sadly I was never able to pick up Hills and Sheep. I kick myself to this day for letting that happen. Anyways, the idea of a Kickstarter, like Whaleyland, proposed is something I would absolutely be on board with. It wouldn't matter to me so much if the expansions would be bundled into boxes but more so just the fact that they would be available. Other than the 6 boxed 'mini-expansions' I do not have any of the smaller and rare expansions and I would love to have them all. Again, being honest, If this did ever come to fruition the prices would need to be fair otherwise that might be a problem. I mean I would only hope that this wouldn't be viewed as an opportunity to take advantage of everyone's desires.

Also, because of the CAR, it doesn't matter as much, but it would be nice if English rules were either provided by default or offered as an option. Also, I know some Kickstarter projects sometimes let backers add-on copies of other games or products made by the same people doing the Kickstarter. Perhaps, if possible, this would be a nice way to offer the boxed expansions like my missing Hills and Sheep, the Wheel of Fortune (which I am also missing, ;D) or (dare I even say it) the Catapult as add-ons. My only thought with that though is I'm not sure how minimums on their end would work. I mean I know they'd have to likely print a minimum number of tiles but do all those tiles have to be exactly the same or could they be different. Would the minimums be different depending on whether the tiles are all the same or different? I only wonder as that might determine if my add-on idea would even be possible.

Lastly, while I'm thinking about it, until they sold out, Z-Man games did offer the Festival (http://www.zmangames.com/store/p123/Carcassonne_mini-expansion%3A_The_Festival.html) and the School (http://www.zmangames.com/store/p124/Carcassonne_mini-expansion%3A_The_School.html) both directly from their website. So even though they NEVER advertised it Carcassonne fans could get both of those expansions in English.

All good choices, but I might also throw in "The Count," "Heretics and Shrines," and I wish they'd also give us the "River I" even though they've said no before.

I was thinking though, as nice as it would be for them to implement all 6 (er technically 7 :D) mini expansions I just fail to fathom, given how they currently calculate and show you your score (hint: they don't use the score board), how they could implement the Robbers expansion and the Messages expansion unless they were willing to redo how scores are visualized.

Wait no more! Carcassonne is officially available on the Mac App Store finally! https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/carcassonne/id901869346?mt=12

The price is $24.99 BUT it does include ALL of the expansions currently available on iOS.

I do not own a Mac so I can't say from experience whether this version is any good or not but given the developers track record on iOS I could only assume this version would be just as good!

I wonder if this will let you start a game on Mac or iOS and then finish it on the other later. This could possibly be done via the new handoff feature in iOS 8 or via some other means. Either way though, (I don't own any Mac but...) I can't imagine how GOOD this will look on any of the retina enabled Mac devices (The new iMac or the Macbook Pro). I mean I know how good it looks on my retina iPad so I'm sure it will look amazing on a retina enabled Mac.

There was indeed an easy way to take control of the main field worth 40 pts using the city at the very bottom (next to cloister with road) and connecting the fields with the T road.

Indeed you are right, and I didn't even see that one myself. I was thinking of playing off the 4 way road to the up and right of the 4 cloister cluster (in the upper left). Then I would've connected the fields with the T road.

Having moved on to the next game with this same opponent I am sure to be more vigilant this time, :)
