Carcassonne, an existential problem
« on: December 13, 2014, 07:47:27 PM »

Like most people on this forum I try to take good care of my Carcassonne tiles and wood figures.  I have a number of plastic divided boxes to keep the parts in and a binder with clear plastic sheet holders for all the documentation.

But  I also insist on keeping all of the original boxes.  So far all I have parted with are the cardboard sheet frames that the tiles were on.  Does anyone else have an issue with not being willing to dispose of anything Carcassonne related?

I live in a small apartment (47 square meters) with no storage facility. So I don't keep the boxes. It's a shame because they are beautiful boxes, but I have to be ruthless. Though a couple of days ago as I was doing some cleaning up, I found flattened out boxes for I&C and T&B that I had forgotten about, so it was nice to came across them again.

I kept literally everything.

The 80 or so boxes, unflattened and still in mint, the spreadsheets, the inlay in the boxes, the rubber band for the River II and all the zip bags that comes with the games.

I also kept that little cardboard thingie that drops off The Tower when you lift it out of the box. It's like a Ferry.

I am keeping everything for the time being. I store most of the boxes on a high shelf in a cupboard in my daughter's bedroom which is quite something to behold when you see all the boxes neatly stacked up. It will be quite something to get rid of when my wife discovers it all though, at which point it will probably be moved into the garage.

So no Gerry, don't worry, you're not the only one!  ;)

I still have all the boxes; I cannot bear to part with them. The house looks like a disaster area, but we don't have people over so it's not much of a problem... :-[

I want to make up some tokens for my game crests and I dont need card as thick as the game tiles.  I finally decided that the cardboard inserts that separate the tiles would make the best backing for the laser printed tokens.  The card is glossy on one side and has the carcassone motive - time to get the scissors out.
