Yesterday I played Lords of Waterdeep and DC deckbuilding game.  I think I got a good handle to them, but I kinda gave someone 25 points in LOW as I was more focused on myself than how many warriors he had  :(n)

Could easily use one for my GingerBreadMan reimplementation idea (the noble, which I proposed in the Element of the week thread).  Especially since my phantoms are going to be glitter coated and I probably won't have Orange as a player color after I nab Big Box 5 (of course, all of this going off of the assumption that my family will like Carc)

I am, Dan, though I was positively buzzing from anticipation from when that CCCC hole was made to when I drew the tile.  At least a late night nap helped in quashing that buzzy feeling.

But yeah, I have one game left and it's with Halfling

It really came down to who drew the CCCC tile.  Franks tried to open up some avenues to place it once it was drawn and I was trying to shut them down.  I ended up drawing it near the end of the game and shared the points with him.  If he would have drawn the tile when he had options or if I didn't score 5 in that incomplete city, he would have won.

But yeah, in my game vs Safari, the same tile came out like way in the early game and I had to add on to his starting city

If I had the blank tiles, I would try to reimplement this expansion as The Noble/The Queen, with 6 new landscape tiles that doesn't do anything (unless if the city tiles complete the tile with the Noble/Queen in it, more on that later) and 6 golden coin tiles that move the Noble/Queen around like in TGBM.  In a completed city, Noble/Queen will grant standard city scoring + 2/4 for those with majority, end game scoring (1 per tile and pendant) for those that had at least 1 knight (In a case of 3 for red, 2 for black, and 1 for orange, Red would get Standard + Noble/Queen points while Black and orange gets endgame scoring).  When the Queen/Noble gets moved to a different city, they 'pay' all of the nights 1 point per tile, with the majority leader getting + 1/2 points.  All you really need is a color agnostic Meeple/Figure or the Queen Meeple from MeepleSource (like if you won a single transparent meeple from Quevy or have any meeple that doesn't match any of your player sets).  I can figure that this can work with The Count and/or the Wheel of Fortune, but not so much with The River series (maybe set aside one river with a city at random at set up and have that as the start player's first move (but they can only claim the road or field on that tile )(or second player's first move if you are playing with set aside fork rule)

Yeah, I did try to wreck it but you immediately drew a good counter to that, and I stopped putting points into your city there

My second game, it was closer than the curbstomp that I had earlier, and Curt nearly made 3 laps around the board.  I didn't notice that he stole the megafarm away from me until it was too late

The game was a jerk to me, really.  Like, seriously, Merlin's draws would have made me groan at the table top.  Also, it was my first 2 player game too

Also, I have a shot of the score breakdown too, Merlin.  This game it was all about the cities

Other Games / Good introductory Worker Placement games

Hey, I did just get back from a game night at a local gamestore and I tried out the store demo for Tzolk'en and I liked how it played but it felt a bit too meaty for my niece and other family members.  Is there any good Worker Placement games I should look into for a 'first' one for my family and I?  My niece is aged 7 but she can handle something like Quarantine pretty easily (Action Point modular board game) but kinda struggled with Blueprints (kinda 3d yahtzee, she kept on making 'rainbow' buildings where she never went for any of the awards or that high of a building score.  She kinda quit the game after the second of 3 rounds).  So, yeah, any suggestions?  I'm not against doing a PNP game if that's the best option, though Agricola did catch my eye (as well as the family ruleset)

You could be like me Hounk and make your own phantoms by glitter coating them after you painted or dyed them.  Which reminds me, I just got my glitter nail polish in and I have 5 prepainted meeples waiting to be phantomed.

That's true, though I'm interested in playing carc with 4 members of my family, so there's that.  A big box 5 might be in my future depending on how the game goes over with the family, but hey, color choice even if we never get enough for a full 8 player game.  Also, just was joking about a 12 player game.

Yeah, that's also true, Hounk.  I know that MeepleSource does sell the extra colored sets for Expansion 5 and Cundco does sell 'replacements' for some of the wooden bits too (They did mention to use the replacement wood part order for getting individual Robbers and Women on the color set pages IIRC).  Just was more thinking out loud on how to do this mini without double buying, though double buying would work if you have 12 sets for players (Oh man!).  Just that there is a way for me to introduce this mini to my folks before springing on importing it.

It kinda isn't compatable with Big Box 5 if you tend to play with a full set(3 for 6 players but there's 8 players in BB5 as well as sameness concerns for buying two).  Though, I think you can either nab pieces from Monopoly (hahahah, sorry) and/or Catan, since they seem to be player agnostic (as it acts as a +1/+2/+3 point(s) for that tile, not player), or probably find something more thematic for it, or just borrow euro cubes and declare what each cube represents at the start of the game if you're going off of the scoring difference variant.  I'd probably do Monopoly House for Shed, Mono hotel for house, and u-build industry/residential for tower (stack of 3 or 4 to make them more tower like).  If I like it and it goes over well with my family, I'd import a set from Cundco to support them.

At least you can tell that they're all standing robbers, unlike in normal JCloisterZone (that's my only complaint about it, my friend thought he was placing farmers everywhere as it looked like all of the meeples were laying down from how the view was)
