I've read that you have to sink quite a bit of money besides the base game (which I've seen it is really affordable) to really enjoy the full experience of the game.

Is that true? I'm really interested in the game.

PS: Not gonna lie, I've read it on reddit  ;D

Well... it depends... if you wont to pkay alone or in 2 you can buy only a copy of the base box (and with this you can play the first campaign of 3 scenarios)... and you need to buy as well all the others expansions to play all the others campaign and scenarios and to make a good deck (it's always a deckbuilding game)...
It was my first lcg but I love all the lovecraftian univers and I always pkay Arkham Horror boardgame, Eldritch Horror and Mansions of Maddness... but this one wooow it'a great gamel

Reviving this post to say I finally got the game! Well, my girlfriend gifted it to me on my birthday with two filler games: Sushi Go and Card Wars from Adventure Times.

We played Sushi Go and it's absolutely a blast. Card Wars is waiting its turn.

But, back on topic. We played Arkham Horror through the first scenario and I have to say it revealed to us as a very deep game ruleset wise. We were playing with the recommended settings and we did it with the rulebook (both of them) at hand for every single step we made.

Also, total play time including set-up was a whopping 3,5 hours!

I'm looking forward to playing the scenario again, with the investigators of our choice, knowing what rules we did wrong and what not in order to progress through the base campaign with them.

Any advice on the game?

Also, do heavy games feel sooooooo heavy (yeah.. I know) the first time you approach their rules? I'm feeling this is because we are really new to the whole boardgame world and I think it will improve as we grasp more and more of the common rules and types of games.

Now that I remember. Anyone knows a good place to print customized play mats in Europe?

I have found some really nice made designs on BoardGameGeek and checked some vendors around the web but they are either on the US (shipment its almost half the price) or they're in Europe but either the price or the shipment or the mat itself seems a bit high.

It's funny because I had a holiday on Dunwich last year... when it was released. I didn't see any elder-ones though.

You might want to look at:

They're quite expensive, but from what I've heard: good results.

Thanks Decar!

Problem is I'm in Spain and shipment + price + taxes is horrendously high for two of them.

Thanks anyway!

PS: BTW, I spent last week in London for my birthday and for sure I willl be coming back to UK. So much to explore!

Count me in. Even today I played Myskatonic form Dunwich with my brother. We found Necronomicon, while more avoiding than fighting with serpent thing.
