I bought 30 copies of the base game. They are still unopened.
I think I have said this before here, but I have always loved cloisters (the English-language version - i.e. Monastery courtyards). Fortunately I travel in Europe a lot and I always say 'Nine points!' when I enter a cloister. My non-Carcassonne fan wife has even started calling cloisters nine points, as in: "This church has nine points."
Great idea for a topic!I know this isn't a competition, but sometimes I am a little bit concerned at how obsessed I am with Carcassonne. I am often playing Carcassonne in my head without even meaning to or trying to and I can't stop it. It's not full games, just imagining various setups and how I'd place certain tiles, but it's never ending and sometimes it can be going on like a video that I'm watching while I'm trying to concentrate on something else such as having a conversation with someone! It's tempting to say something like "Sorry but I'm playing Carcassonne in my head at the moment, can we have this conversation later on?" but I don't think this would be very well received...That in itself is a big deal for me but sometimes I can't sleep for the same reason, or it might take me a long time (perhaps 3 or 4 days) to forgive myself for making a mistake that could have cost me an important game as I'll dwell on it for a long time. Then of course there's all the various Carcassonne related projects I like to think about but most of those are more related to CarcC rather than directly to the game itself.
Fortunately I travel in Europe a lot and I always say 'Nine points!' when I enter a cloister.
At which point the German (cloisters) go "nein nein nein!"
What do you do if you go into a German monastery? Lie on your side and wait for the game to finish I suppose?
I sigh every time I see a catapult.
