I should mention that from 11 July to 4 August I basically won't be able to play as I'll be working/travelling abroad without a PC. Hopefully we can finish the League by then but my participation in the Cup could be in doubt (unless I am knocked out by then anyway  :gray-meeple:).

Meanwhile I played three real-life games today with my one Carcassonne-playing friend and won all three, which was good for my confidence after my recent poor form in the League. We played with the Plague, the Ferries and Mage and Witch for the first time and really liked all three!

Do all of those expansions work on JCZ?
I just drew the perfect tile for my MonKnighThieFarmer!

Very cool combo. That sounds like fun.  :(y)

It was! I just got these two minis last week, so we played with them and Inns and Cathedrals and the River 2 for our first game. I think Inns and Cathedrals goes really well with both the Ferries (because of the possibility of long 2-point-per-tile roads) and the Mage and Witch (which can extend or balance out the Cathedral). At one point I was in control of a reasonably-sized incomplete cathedral city (10 tiles with three pennants for memory) with the mage in the city as well, giving me a potential score of about 80 points. But my opponent managed to move the mage out and then move the witch in so by the time I completed it I only got 20 points.

Then we just decided to keep in the two minis and the River 2 for our next two games, one with The Tower and the other with The Plague. The Plague sounds really complicated but we managed to figure it out pretty quickly and this was the closest game of the three. Like the dragon, it seems like it's not as destructive with only two players (i.e. it's easier to avoid the plague). So for us, the Tower causes the most carnage on the board out of the three destructive expansions.

I like Inns and Cathedrals because it offers two more 4-sided city tiles.

That and that the Swedish version of this expansion has River I included for free.   :D

(a bug in JCloisterZone means that games can crash if Traders & Builders is played with Princess & Dragon so I've removed T & B from the final)
Personally, I would prefer to play with Traders and Builders and leave out Princess & Dragon.

Also - personally! - I would prefer to see River and River II both be used right from the start.

However, I will play with whatever the rules require!

It doesn't seem likely that we're going to get 16 players. Maybe we should proceed with 8 and go straight into the knock-out stage? This would make it a much shorter competition as there would not be the group stage beforehand. Any thoughts?

@quevy - Yes you are very welcome to join in; I'm sure that Italy will be very proud to be represented by you!

@jungleboy - I don't know how quickly things will move with this, and it hasn't helped that I haven't done anything to try and move it along. Sorry about that. In all likelihood I don't think things are going to be complete by the time you're due to be off for a month.

My partner is interested in joining.  She has not joined the forums yet, but will once the competitions approach.

Does that help the head count?

The same applies to my wife: she also wants to participate and will register when needed.

....which makes his daughter "MsNumbers", and his son "MasterNumbers".

Then what, for more than one daughter or son?  Or cousins, aunts, uncles, inlaws, grandparents or grandchildren?

Where does it all end?????

That makes four.  We have two friends who have developed an interested, which makes six.

Anyone else?  We only need TWO MORE!!!

It's been so long, I can't remember if I did express interest.

But I am in.  :(y)
