Had a look on both this site, and the archived site content, but can find nothing describing whether this is a workable expansion. Anyone tried it, before I go and print the tiles? Thanks.

Not yet but sounds interesting.
If you're hesitating then maybe you could try it without printing the parts of the stained glass pictures that belong to this expansion. Just take (cut) 24 small pieces of paper, and write two numbers onto one side indicating the position (column and row) of the piece.

After a bit more digging I found the Stained Glass discussion thread (http://carcassonnecentral.com/forum/index.php?topic=1700.0) under Completed Expansions on the Archived site - I'd been looking only at the Expansion Workshop thread. And I'd only searched the current site, not the archived one!
It's also an expansion that is version independant (no tiles), so could be used by those using the new art.
I'm probably going to print the images and mount on thick card, rather than on Carc tiles, and am thinking of making minor adjustments to rules (such as allowing an exchange, rather than the steal) as our games are usually 2-player minimal conflict.
