The exhibition "modell-hobby-spiel" in Leipizig, Germany from 03.-05.10.2014:

Some English information:
Quote
modell-hobby-spiel is the biggest consumer event for model building, model railways, creative arts, games and toys, for visitors from the five eastern states of Germany, for Bavaria and Hesse as well as for visitors from the Czech Republic and Poland.

It is taking place for the 19th time in 2014.

In 2013, 650 exhibitors from 10 countries presented a comprehensive industry overview and unveiled new products. Workshops and lots of offers to try out encourage people to get involved in all areas and demonstrate how nice it can be to have a hobby.

Since 2009, the "Graf Ludo" game graphics award has been presented at modell-hobby-spiel

I will go on Saturday to Leipzig.
And again I will visit the "Graf Ludo" prize-giving ceremony.

The nominees for the award has two cathegories - each cathegory has 3 nominees:
- best graphics in family games
- best graphics in children games
Graf Ludo - Nominees

The graphic artists with the best graphic will get the award.
-------------------------------
At the booth at HiG / Carcassonne-on-Tour with Udo Schmitz
- the new Spin-Off "Carcassonne-Goldrush"

Klaus-Jürgen Wrede will sign the games and also the autograph cards.

Some tournaments with Carcassonne take place.

Here are some pictures of the booth:

Sometimes I really wish I lived in Germany. This event sounds fun and not nearly as stressful as Essen.

Hi whaleyland,
perhaps one day you will study the history of the "Germans" and the "Germanic tribes" here in Germany...

This year I am on Saturday and Sunday at the exhibition.
That means enough time to look through all of the 5 halls.

From the HiG-Team: Georg Wild and Jasmin Weigand will be there to as visitors.

lol. I actually love the dynastic history of the Holy Roman Empire and all the small states (around 350 of them). One of my long-term historical goals is to write a textbook on dynasties of the Holy Roman Empire (and afterwards) and explain how they worked, where the multitude of states were, and how they interacted. After the bishoprics and religious states are removed, most of Germany falls into about ten families with various branches of those families controlling the various states. Quite interesting!

I met Ratz65 and PresetM (both members at CarcF and CarcC), Klaus-Jürgen Wrede (als always - he signed autograph cards and tiles - all for the community), Georg Wild and Jasmin (HiG-Team), Udo Schmitz, Kalle Schmiel, Willi Weber....

More information follows, but I am tired now...

Here is an example picture of the signed pieces:

Nice! What's that cardboard cut-out at top-left in the photo? It looks intriguing.

??

Only the landscape tile has been made on cardboard.

On the left side of this picture are 3 different stickers.
They are a part of a stickers sheet - only available at Carcassonne-on-Tour and CundCo on Tour and for the community.  ;D

I've cut the stickers sheet into each sticker.

Saturday 04 10 2014:

First I went to the booth of Carcassonne-on-Tour at around 10:30am.
Then we had the nice special event "Graf Ludo" - start 11:00am. I was there together with the HiG-Team (Georg Wild and Jasmin). After the prize-giving ceremony (around an hour) we had a party with champagne, pretzels with the jury, the guests, the artists and the publishers...

The winner for the family games is: Dennis Lohausen for the graphics of the game "Glück Auf".
Dennis Lohausen is also the graphics artist for the cover of 2Carcassonne - South Sea".

I've talked with Dennis Lohausen - it is great to know the HiG-Team - very helpful...  ;D

This is Dennis Lohausen:

This is a photo from both winners together with Graf Ludo:

Thanks for sharing. This looks like it was a lot of fun. I particularly like the HiG booth with the Gold Rush theme.  :)

Like whaleyland, I’d love to be able to get to Germany to see more of this for myself. Mind you, I’m a lot closer than he is so my excuse for not going is less valid...

Each day there were two simultaneous tournaments. Sebastian Trunz (world-champion Carcassonne from 2007) played against other players at many tables.

Example Saturday 04 10 2014 - start 12:00pm - end around 2:00pm:
Sebastian Trunz played 9 games - 2 player games - at the same time. He was running from one table to the next one for his turns.

On that tournament I met PresetM (one of the players) and Ratz65.
PresetM wins the match against Sebastian Trunz.

At this tournament 2 people won their match against Sebastian Trunz.

After the second tournament round I've talked a bit with Sebastian Trunz.
