Official Rules / Re: Multiple Kathedrals and Besiegers in 1 city
« on: December 06, 2014, 06:50:26 AM »
It’s a very good question. :)
I think Rosco’s interpretation of the rules is right. If not, you would get 0 point for a city with two Besiegers, and that seems odd.

My wife and I enjoy H&G too. Whenever we decide to play a game of Carc we mix it up between several of the spin-offs as well. I liked the mechanics in H&G so much they were the basis for the Animal Farm expansion I wrote. You should check it out if you haven't. Sorry for the shameless plug - consider it a public service announcement.  ;D
Thanks for the tip. The rules for your Animal Farm expansion look really neat. :(y) I especially liked that there are no new tiles, only tokens. Definitely one of the expansions I shall try out. :)

When we play big games we always use 2 or 3 base games (depending on how big). We have played games with two of all the expansions, with the exception of only one of the Count, the Plague and the Catapult (which we don’t like), and its works fine I think.

I agree that the Wheel of Fortune, the Catapult and the Bazaars disrupt the game. But as we like to play a little aggressive we always include the Count and the Plague. They maybe have complicated rules, but when you are used to play with them I don't think they interrupt the game so much. In regards to the King & Robber, I think it's a matter of how you keep track of the longest road and the biggest city. We use designated meeples as King and Robber on the scoreboard for this.

In my opinion, the most interrupting game component in a big game is the Barn. In a big game you don't want your meeples stuck on the fields for the entire game, but you don't want to loose your big farm either (Dragon, Tower, Plague), so of course you use the Barn when a nice field emerges. But this gives the opportunity for all the players to get easy points with small connecting farms throughout the rest of the game. We have had games where the farm with the Barn has been scored 6 additional times with connected fields. This really interrupts the game :(

In the end it boils down to what type of game you like to play. But I think it's a good idea to always use 2 or 3 sets of the base game if you play with multiple copies of the big expansions. ;)

Nice! I always love the look of a table filled with tiles. :(y)

We have played games with over 1000 tiles and 4 players without anyone losing interest. But all the players were more than 40 years old. Maybe the patience comes with age? ;)

Got confirmation for these few mins ago:

1x Carcassonne - The City
6x Carcassonne - The Castle
0x Carcassonne - New World
0x Carcassonne - The Discovery

Both The City and The Castle are in English and shipping is 5 Euro no matter how much I order from them if shipped to me.

I now just need the weight for these items and I can give a definitive answer total cost. The Castle The City I understand is a bit heavy containing many wooden parts.

 :meeple:
As I understand you haven’t got any confirmation on The New World. If it’s ok with you, please exclude me from the list. I order it instead from spillskrinet.no here in Norway. If you already have acquired it for me, I of course by it from you. :)

I ordered one, yes. They are still packing the order apparently. 2 days is a long time for an order process. But if you can't wait, it's ok if you want to order from the .no. I don't have it either can keep it safekeeping if can't wait.  :@

Then I take it from you. Don't want you to get stuck with a game because of me. :@

The second game my girlfriend :red-meeple: won with 22 points  :(
Of the big cities I managed only to finish the one to the right at the bottom. She finished all the other big ones and most of the smaller, as I mainly drew tiles with roads.

Remember to take a photo of endgame and post it here!
As requested by Yellow, her are a short game report for our first two games with The Ark of the Covenant.

The “game mechanics” is a blend between original Carcassonne and Hunters & Gatherers with the addition of something different. Especially the scoring when moving the Ark give you a new interesting strategically option. The Prophet also makes you think different when you build cities, as he can only be used once and score double for the city.

We really enjoyed both the “game mechanics” and the artwork. I think The Ark of the Covenant and Hunters & Gatherers will be our preferred games when we want to play a quick game.

The first game I :black-meeple: won with 29 points :D
I finished the big city with my Prophet

The pimped bridges were from eBay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Wooden-board-game-Bridge-tokens-solid-wood-ideal-for-Carcassonne-/171559394954?
They look really great, and it's the same guy who has pimped the ferries too!!! :D I think the “pimped” Ferries and Bridges will be a nice Christmas present from me to myself this year.  ;)

Put me on the list for The New World, in case you manage to get hold of it.

Alright. I'll see what I can do.  :(y)

To be honest, hunting these for you guys is more fun than buying them to keep for oneself. I just gotta remember to take it slow so I don't get overwhelmed with work as I am dying to get back to programming some day soon!

 :meeple:

PS: Congratulations for your Ark of the Covenant! Glad I could help.  :)

The Ark of the Covenant looks really nice.  I particularly loved that “The player who last read a portion of the Bible will be the starting player.” This can take some time to figure out for us.  ;)

I am looking forward to play it with my girlfriend this evening. I dedicate my first game to you Yellow, and hope that I will accomplish a little better than I have done with the Hunters & Gaterers recently.

You are my hero. :(y)

This Saturday December 6, I will get 3 more copies of Ark of the Covenant.

If anyone is still interested let me know. Currently I can obtain 8 copies total, including these three.

Also, are there any interest in other variants? I know a few stores here still have New World and Discovery. Some are actually lowered in price as sales to get rid of them.

I can compile a list here on what is available and prices. As always, you pay for actual store cost and shipping. I make no profit at all from this. Just happy to help, inspired by others on this forum!

New World could be interesting :)
Merit for that you are doing this for the community. :(y)
