My first Carcassone expansion! (Well, other than The River that came with my original game.)

This is the picture I texted my wife to announce its arrival. :)

Received Over Hill and Dale today.

We are big gardeners so I think my wife will like the theme of this a little more than Gold Rush. She didn't mind the mechanics but hasn't wanted to again play since our first couple of games. Then again she really enjoys South Seas.

Cheers,
Franks

Wanna play Carc? Can we add just one more expansion?

I came home to an exciting package today. Please share my excitement via the photos below...

I might not have got a free Spiel 15 tile, but I did get not 1, not even 2, but 3 FREE elastic bands (pictured above). I'm still deciding what I'm going to do with them at the moment, but the possibilities are unbounded! 8) :(y) :(y) :(y)

Time to update my profile... ;)

Is there a spot on the list for rubber bands?  Sorry, elastic bands!  ;D

I saw you were deciding between new and old art.  Did you go with the old art then?  I prefer old style much more,  but it's so expensive,  and no expansions reprinted in the old style.   How did you choose?

More of my own early Xmas presents  ;D

This was a very quick delivery by Amazon, (about one week).

The last couple of weeks have also brought The Star Wars edition and Hill and Dale to their new home.

I continue to wait for my Cundco order placed on Oct. 16th and yet to arrive! (Order is supposedly on its way.)

What?! Where's mine? The tracking thing says it's still on the way, and estimates the 22nd December. I'm a bit confused as to how this can have happened since I ordered mine the day before you and am also in the UK! :o

Well, sometimes I wish I was in the UK but I'm in Canada.  :D

I assumed the Amazon seller was in the U.S. but considering how quickly it arrived, I'm thinking the seller might have actually been in Canada.

Hey not complaining and its nice to have more vintage tiles from this set ;D

That actually gives me some comfort. I ordered mine on the 23rd, I think, and it's been on its way since November 13rd or so.

I don't know why I assumed you were in the UK, I must be confusing you with someone else. In any case, I don't feel quite so hard done-by now. Hope you enjoy it! :) :(y)

Hi Fallred,

I decided to go with the old art because...

1. I want to enjoy this game now, including the expansions, rather wait for who-knows-how-many years for all of them to be re-released with the new art. (Knowing how my wife and I play games, Carcassonne will only stay our favorite game for a while, before we move on to something else, although it will stay in rotation for a long time. I want to enjoy it while we're really into it.)

2. I don't expect some of the old expansions will ever be reprinted in the new art, especially some of the smaller promos that I have my eye on like Castles in Germany and Halflings. I want to pick them up while there's still a chance to get them for decent prices (see below).

3. I like the old art better.

As for how to buy them, I'm just taking my time and looking out for deals. There are still a LOT of old-art expansions floating around for sale, but I expect that to become less and less so. Look on BoardGameGeek's marketplace, eBay, used sales on Amazon, and stores like Cundco and Boardgameshop.eu. The shipping from these last two can be terrible, but it can also be quite reasonable if you're shipping small stuff (e.g. 4 euros from Cundco for three small expansions) or ordering enough at once to make the shipping costs worth it. Also see CarcC's Recommended Supplier List for more places to shop -- http://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?topic=30.0.

Hope that helps!

His blade defends the helpless.
His might upholds the weak.

His wrath undoes the wicked.

Now I know why you wanted the 'Judge' tile :)
Agricola was my gateway game. Carcassonne became my game of choice.
