Sorry ot hear you can't make it franks!
However it gives us a good reason to attend next year! Hopefully one day we can sit down and play a game together!
We'll have our car - so maybe we can ferry you (and others) around! That's a kind offer! ::) Let's discuss details later, closer to Essen ;)
Is there a special tile this year?
How do I play in the main Carcassonne championship at Essen? Is there a place to sign up?
Xander12,
please contact the organizer of the Carcassonne World Cup "Spielezentrum Herne". I think they have rent some rooms for the participants of the world cup.
I asked over on CarcF for you Xander. Sometimes lodges are booked.
When will you make a decision on flights?
Perhaps you could hook up with MrNumbers and his companions? I don't know what his plans are this year, but previously he has shared an apartment or similar near to Essen. There may be space with him, and it would probably make it all the more affordable if there is an extra person to split the bill between. Plus he is an excellent Carcassonne player so you will have someone to practice against before the big day!We usually book Airbnb apartment, and amount of people and beds is strictly defined. This year is not an exception, sorry.
btw, there is usually a meetup with lots of Carcassonne fans at the Cundco Booth on the Thursday afternoon (2.30 I think).Usually it is at 12:30, but everything could be changed :)
It seems this year I will be there... representing Hungary at the World Championships. :)

Thank you, Dan. I'm excited, too. :)
To tell you the truth, my way to the World Championships wasn't really straightforward. Actually I finished 3rd at the qualification tournament but the two finalists couldn't afford the trip to Essen...

In many countries (including Baltic States) organizing company pays all the trip costs for representing player. It's not the case in Hungary?
Thanks, Alexander. We'll meet at the competition on Saturday at the latest. :)It seems this year I will be there... representing Hungary at the World Championships. :)
Congrats dude! I hope to see you soon in Essen :D
I hope to arrive at 1:00 PM of Thursday at the stand of CundCo, at the latest at 3:00 PM, if the public transport of Germany is not very complex for me :oI'll try to arrive there around 3 p.m. That's the time when I can receive my ticket at the entrance.
There is a CarcF meet up at 1pm on Thursday, it seems no one wants to move that.I'm in. Though my apartment is in Düsseldorf, so I should leave around 7 p.m I'm afraid.
Given most of the CarcC members cannot make this time, how about meeting at the Cundco booth at around 4:30pm?
That should avoid any traffic problems!
Or perhaps later and get some dinner?
Mr Numbers your friends would be welcome too if you need a ride back home, I'll have my car too (back at the hotel), if necessary I'll drive you back :)
I'll be wearing a white carnation in my blazer pocket (ps....i wont be)
And I will be representing the Netherlands this year :)
Looking forward to seeing you guys!
