Title: Carcassonne game fan arts and crafts
Post by: Paul on September 19, 2014, 01:37:59 PM
Sometimes when I take a break from work or projects, I like to surf the net for images. Figure I share a few here that are interesting. Edited some of these posts to make the image more forum friendly. Original image linked below it.

Pretty stuff!!  ^-^

I wonder if that bracelet is made from shrinking plastic or polymer clay or something else? Hmm...  ???

Either way it's very cool and I like it!! :)

It's made of Shrinky Dinks plastic according to the artist. I Googled it and it does look like something fun! Never heard of it before myself. Yet it was invented in 1973.

Ah, yes! :) I thought it could be shrinking plastic! :) Very cool to work with! Not only for children!  ^-^

I recommend anyone who likes to craft, to test it. :)

And you don't need to use the oven, if you own one of those crafting hot air blowing things, that you normally use to melt embossing powder. :(y)

Been a while posted anything here. Haven't had the time to browse as of late.

But this one was found randomly when looking for something else:

Found on flickr and uploaded there by Chris Edwards (cjedwards47) in 2009.

This is Carcassonne LEGO Pirate themed, which I guess one could call a predecessor to South Seas.  :)

Apparently it's playable but I don't know what you're supposed to do with it!

I made one for me some time ago and played it like Rubik's Cube. I didn't print the coloured meeples on it so it was very difficult, so I made another mini cube just to look where the tiles should be.

Wow. When I saw those images I thought it was another post from Graham W with some more of his tile designs. I'm now kind of disappointed that they're not what I thought they were, but they still look pretty cool.

They do custom inserts for games that have inserts that are in the 'quite lacking' category.  They also do a dice tower, deck trays for keeping cards organized (2 4s would be perfect for the base Catan game (1 for each resource (5), 1 for the development deck and its discard, and 1 to hold the achievement tiles) for example), and some customized resource bits.  Games that they have done inserts for include the King Of series, Suburbia, Caverna, and 7 wonders.  Though, their solution is a bit limited if you own a standard Carc box and Big Box 5 or additional player sets as their meeple tray only has 6 dividers.

Yeah, have to go with Basically Wooden's designs, but curse my lack of (substantial) income and being in the states.  Most recently I ordered some stuff online for a game I'm making.

But yeah, for those that haven't seen it yet, here's my painted meeple set from awhile ago.  nothing too fancy, really

For those of you having plethora of boxes can do something like this:

I am sorry but this is a really bad idea.

Everyone should know that the principle use of an empty Carcassonne big box is to use it to hide all of the other Carcassonne box base games and expansions that you have purchased.

That way it is not obvious to the rest of your family just how many copies of the game you have spent good money on.    8)

I can't find the image on boardgamegeek.com to link the "30" made out of boxes source. I usually do this but slipped my mind this time around.

But in my pursuit for the missing link I found this:

Thanks for the link Paul. Anyone have a problem loading this on a Mac? When I loaded it there was a message; 1 serious error. Do not install.

MrsPaul: "Paul, I've just been checking our bank balance. Did you spend $800,000 last week?"

:yellow-meeple: "Umm, no. Must be a mistake or something"

MrsPaul: "Are you sure? It says something about 'Cundco' whatever that is?"

:yellow-meeple: "I don't know what you're talking about! I'm going for a bath..."

MrsPaul: "Fine. You'll have to move all of those tiles out of the bath tub though, otherwise they'll get wet"

:yellow-meeple: "I didn't say I was going to bathe in water"

Wow, what women you guys have. Poor you.  :'(

Then again, I am not married, but I did have a family life ages ago and we set ground rules from day one before moving in. Even today in this household we have rules, sadly most of them never followed by other. I feel like I am the wife because I love shopping and I can't stand the house not being clean.  O:-)

Actually my wife has never said a word about my Carcassonne,  I just know that I did not really need that third copy of Abbey and Mayor or that second Big Box 5 to go along with my Big Box 2.   I have always had a thing about wanting spare parts and backup copies.   With HiG discontinuing the original artwork and the stuff selling out at all the local (and not so local) stores it seems to have gotten a little out of hand.

Some people cannot resist picking up kittens and puppies, I guess I feel the same way about that chubby little Mayor on the front of the box.   ::)

Thanks Paul, you can always give Mrs Decar a merit.

I'm not sure why this was moved into 'Arts and Crafts' - this is edible.

I moved it here. In my opinion it still matches "craft" part.
From the dictionary:
Quote
Craft, noun: an art, trade, or occupation requiring special skill, especially manual skill

Work in progress, but so far looks pretty good. Tested in a complete dark room as well and it really lights up the room efficiently for everyday (or night I suppose) activities, even reading.
  What is left to do:
1. Acquiring high resolution tiles for quality printing. (this picture the tiles were printed on photo paper in a regular colour printer.
2. Cover the entire lamp shade, which it probably would had I not cut out a row.  ;D

Lamp base cost me 3 Euro and the shade 1 Euro, bought of a second hand store.

I've painted a small oil painting - a landscape tile (6,5 x 6,5 cm) - ok there were 2 paintings, but one has MrNumbers now.
I've met MrNumbers in Leipzig some days ago when he visits us in Germany for holidays.

Here are 2 photos of one of the paintings. I have no photo from the other landscape tile

Title: Little fat Meeple
Post by: Squiffything on October 24, 2017, 04:59:38 AM
I work in an office and have a very lovely secretary who works along side me. One of her things she does outside of work is knitting so I asked her if she could knit me a meeple cushion. She said that it wouldn't take too much to do so having found an online pattern maker, made up a pattern and sorted out a colour scheme she went off to make it for me.

Today she bought in my cushion and I am overjoyed with the result. The pattern was suppose to be around 9 inches tall, a bit like the plush meeples you can buy but she decided that it would be too small so made suitable adjustments.

Tadah! Here's my little fat Meeple.

I saw the following on a Facebook group yesterday and immediately questioned why they would have claimed the field rather than the cloister:

If I was man enough to get a tattoo without passing out and/ or crying in the process, I'd consider getting something like this (provided it was well done) or maybe just a meeple (blue of course :blue-meeple:).

Does anyone else have any Carcassonne or boardgame-related tattoos?
