Hello Dear Carcassonnians (carcassonnais)
There is a new Monastery set with Dutch and Belgium Monasteries.
They use the same mechanics as the German ones.. They only have new Monasteries and are a nice addition to your collection.
In the webshop of 999 games (the dutch publisher of Carcassonne). I found they sell the cloisters.
You can order them at me by sending me a PM. (See costs below)
The monasteries: (free translation)
Trappist Abbey of Westmalle (Westmalle, Belgium)
Leftup
This abbey belongs to the order of Cisterciënzers, which was founded in the 11th century.
This order simply and conveniently called 'Trappist', after the Normandian abbey La trappe.
They still are very know because of their beer.
The Abbey of Averbode (Averbode, Belgium)
Rightunder
This abbey belongs to the order of Prémontré, which was founded in 1121 in North-France Prémontré.
Referring to that place the members of the order are called 'permonstratenzers'.
Saint-Trudoabbey Brugge (Brugge, Belgium)
Leftunder
The Saint-Trudoabbey is a cloister of the Regular Kanunnikessen of the Holy Grave, which is located since 1954 in the castle of Male to Male, Saint-Kruis Brugge.
Cloister Huissen (Huissen, Netherlands)
Rightup
Cloister Heilig Hart (Steyl, Nederland) (Holy Heart)
Rightmid
Abbey Onze Lieve Vrouw van Nazareth (Brecht, Belgium) (Our Dear Lady of Nazareth)
Leftmid
Costs:
Each expansion cost €3,00
The whole order then has to be shipped to me, so that will be shared amongst all buyers.
Then comes the package costs and the shipping to your country..
This is a tricky part, because each package has a certain weight. and you pay for the weight. each expansion is 66 gram (in plastic)
All in all this will result in the following costs to international delivery: (this is the final cost)
50-100 gram
1 expansion : € 7,50
100-250
2 expansions : € 13,50
3 expansions : € 18,00
250 and up
4 expansions : € 25,50
5 expansions : € 28,50
These are the payments you make to me.
I almost make no profit out of it (just a bit for unexpected cost)
I hope you all understand.

I saw that you can only select the netherlands and belgium, :o
I do not think you could ask for shipping to other states.
-
I can't believe the expansion only costs 2,99 € and people are trying to trade it for rare expansions like Corn Circles I and The Cathars.
Would anyone from the Netherlands be willing to order some copies for CarC members? Or maybe Carcatronn will have the Dutch cloisters in his shoppe soon?
-
IF those are the dutch cloisters and IF there are enough people who want them i can order and send them to whereever they are need.. Shipping costs and expansion costs ofc for yourself;)
-
Hey - I would like one - my. Postage is to the uk
-
I would love to get one as well! That would be really nice. I'm from Germany.
-
Sign me up. Shipping to New Zealand.
-
SRBO merit for you!
-
Please count me in too! I'm in the UK.
Well done for your public-spiritedness too; merit for that alone! :(y)
-
I would also be interested SRBO, maybe we are too many xD
-
Do we know anything about general availability? Will they be available from Cundco like the German Monasteries? I feel a little confused...
-
SRBO, could you count me in too? ^-^
-

Count me in for sure! I'm in the U.S. and have PayPal.
-
I am interested as well, count me in. USA
-
Looking like the demand is high. But if the availability is there, I'd like to be included in this as well. :red-meeple:
-
I am definitely in, shipping to Switzerland. Thanks SRBO, merit for you!
Edit: I also have paypal.
-
Lol that currently is 15 copies to, UK, Germany, New zealand, spain, singapore, US, Swiss, italy lol
It will take some time but im going to try! Il keep you updated;)
Can paypal transfer money back to bank account? If so then paypal can be an option.
-
Sorry but... I really don't understand... Is true? Exist 2 differenti expansions of the monasteries? 1 with german monasteries and 1 with belgium monasteries?
-
One more for the UK please SRBO? Thanks a lot for doing this!
-
Can paypal transfer money back to bank account? If so then paypal can be an option.
Yes, that's how it works! Thank you so much in advance, SRBO!
-

Yes there is. There is one with the german and 1 with the monesteries of the netherlands(dutch) and belgium.
-
Hi demand but would also love to be included. In the UK with paypal. Great stuff SRBO
-
I am definitely in, shipping to Germany. Thanks SRBO, merit for you!
-
I think you should start a shop XD
-
Got an official statement of 999 games today.
Hoi 999 games.
I means that indeed there is an official expansion with the dutch and belgium cloisters. They are in their webshop.
-
I would love a copy too SRBO. I'm another UK resident with paypal.
Obviously, demand is already high for your kind services so don't worry if you can't get round to me.
-
Hi
Can I add my name in as well, another UK one for paypal.
Cheers
Geoff
-
I'm interested, BUT I have a question.. :)
If I have both the German and the Dutch version, can I use them in the game at the same time, or not? Because I don't buy tiles that are extras.. I put them all in my tilebag.. :)
Would it be vise to use them both at same time or is one enough? ???
-
The original rules state you have to replace a regular cloister with a German monastery - if you put the regular cloisters and German monasteries and Dutch monasteries in your bag I think this would be to much cloisters - but it is possible of course and it's your choice ...
-
If it's not too late, I would like to add my name to the purchase list. US here, can pay with PayPal.
And a merit to SRBO!

Hmm... Yes you are right.. It would be quite a lot churches indeed... hmm... :-\
I have to think about this... :) Maybe one set of the German monastery is enough for me... gotta sleep on it.. :)

The more expansions you have, howhigher the value of the cloisters get. As a collector i want them. To.play with doubles is something to.think.about. they would.be the most valuable features in the game next to a pigfarmer
-
I want them also :-)
I'm from Belgium ...
-
Maybe you could add all "cloisters" you have into a bag and blindly draw the number you want for that particular game e.g. 6 for the base game, 10 if you use a few expansions etc. You could then get a random assortment of German, Dutch and Belgian monasteries, regular cloisters and shrines/heretic places depending on what you add to the bag.

Vital, you can get them directly from the shop your from belgium;)

That is actually quite a good idea! :) Then I just have to remember at the end of the game to take the monastery tiles to the side for future games, instead of mixing them into the tile bag with the rest of the tiles.. :)

Hmm.. Yes there always is the collector point in this.. Hmm... :-\
Let's say I'm interested... If you order heaps of monasteries, will the shipping cost get skyhigh?
And the final cost would be 3 euro for monastery, plus shipping cost devided with all who order, plus shipping cost to Finland? :) You think it would fit in a flat envelope? Maybe some toilet paper around so it wont get damaged? :)

Would be around 4 euros shipping costs max. Depending on the country.
But im making some deals.. so maybe it would be a bit lesser
-
I am interested as well, if the offer is still available. I live in the United States, I have paypal as well.
-
Tonight im going to order them. if more people want it please let me now before this evening.
-
I already said I wanted one, but I should add that I have paypal as well. Thank you for doing this for all of us. I'm sure you'll sell all the copies you get even if a few people fall through. In fact, you may want to order a few extras just in case.
-
Yes I am the same. I have PayPal. Thanks for all your effort on this.
-
Thanks for the help.
Are more cloisters planned for other countries?

Are more cloisters planned for other countries?
Those plans have not yet been revealed, but I suspect Monasteries for at least France are in the works. I'd say it would be a big mistake not to have French Monasteries since the game is...well...French in the theme. Or rather Occitan/Provençal. Italian Monasteries would also be fun, but I feel that is somewhat less likely. Perhaps Spanish ones will come out, though.

Which countrys have big suppliers and lots of players?
as we have lots of people from UK i think those will come next!

Perhaps, but Britain has two problems: first, their distributor is in the US (ZMG), and, second, Britain has demolished most of its old monasteries. I suspect Spain or France will be next. They are the next biggest distributors with an actual Catholic history.
-
Late to the party, as I've been on vacation, but..
SRBO, I'll take three! (One for me, one for my brother and his wife, and one for my mum and dad!) In the US as well! I'm curious to see how they look. :)
-
It just hit me that some of these monastaries might be trappists. Is that so? If so then I need to get hold of these as well. Now, I think poor SRBO has enough to deal with, so I hope that these will be made available internationally. Who is the publisher?
The store which sells these will not ship abroad, was that correct?
-

I don't know yet, but when i get them i will translate it all to english.
999 games is the publisher and it is in their webshop
There should be a new profile option now!
-
I am keen to get a set. Maybe, if Whaleyland is happy, send two to him and I can get him to send one to me as we are both in New Zealand. Whaleyland, are you happy with that and I can pay you. Probably easier for SRBO.
-
If that makes things easier, it works for me. I've done a similar thing with Joff in the UK before.
-
Thanks for doing a mass order for us here SRBO. Do you know what monasteries are pictured in this set?
Guy

I can give up one of my copies, and you can include one of them.
-

Ow no, they are still in the game.. its just that the forum online allows me to send 20 messages, so they recieve the message later;)
-
Or Ah, I read hastily, I thought to a maximum of 20 copies.
-
Seems I need to check this forum more often :( In case SRBO or anyone else is doing another mass order, count me in (I'm from Poland).
-
I would be interested in the second round if you do one. I'm in the US/have paypal.
-
In for 2 if there is a next round. US, PayPal or Venmo
-
When more become available, I would be in for two and can pay via Paypal.

What is the difference between Dutch/ Belgium monasteries? I should probably know but haven’t been following this thread closely enough, If they are two different things could I have one of each please?

SRBO, I'd love to sign up for 1 copy. Thanks sooooo much!
-

You're on the list!
-
Thanks SRBO excellent work. Like the photo of your mass order, that would've made for a very dull game of Carcassonne! 162 Monasteries: Not my idea of a fun game, even in a mega carc game of nearly 500 tiles (plus these 162 making it 662 tiles) that's nearly a quarter of the tiles!
Thanks also to Danisthirty for distributing the UK sets and cutting postage!
Guy
-
I would like to order one set. Thanks in advance!
-
I just got my set trom 999 games. I compared The rules of The CAR with The dutch rulebook and The rules are the same if i'm not mistaken.
However: they made a mistake.
On the first page the lower picture is incorrect. The cloister is placed faulty.
Lets hope 999 games corrects this soon. That way we all get a collectors item.
-
And here's the pic. One lonely abbot, seperated from the road by some faulty placement. Doomed to live out his live in total isolation, with only 17000 gallons of belgian beer to keep him company.
-
SRBO, sign me up for one set. I am really grateful that you are doing this favour for us! :(y)
I have PayPal and live in Norway.
-
If it's not too late, I'd like to hop on the wagon to obtain this as well!
-
Thanks for that. I will await my copy through whaleyland.

Mmmm, Westmalle!
Trappist beer is the best there is! Of course, my favourite being Westvleteren, but Westmalle is probably third or fourth on the list, depending on the mood of the day.
Thanks a bunch for this!

Hi SRBO, I would love to get one as well, if its still possible. I'm from Slovakia.
-
Hello SRBO, I am interested in a copy of this expansion. I'm in Canada and I have Paypal.
-
I have a good feeling about today (since I have a day off work), so I think the kloosters might arrive. :green-meeple:

Still waiting for the other 3 copies to arrive, but there's nothing stopping me from getting these packaged up and on their way to their new owners this week now!
-
Wow, the tiles are so beautiful I am almost tempted to try and get a copy, even though I very rarely get a chance to play anymore!

Im glad they Arrived unharmed!
-
They certainly did, thanks SRBO! They're mounted on a fairly substantial piece of cardboard so it looks as though it would take a lot to damage them too severely.
-
Mine arrived today.
-
Another 14 Pieces have been ordered!
-
Hi SRBO,
If you're still taking orders, I would love to make a request for one copy. I have paypal and live in the US. Please let me know--thanks!
-
Today they safely arrived in Sweden!
Thanks again, SRBO! ^-^
-
Your welcome guys :)
-
OOOOhhh why do I have to live in Finland with slow post?! :'(
My hasn't arrived yet... Maybe tomorrow! ^-^
We seriously got slow post here! >:( Ordered my Halloween costume like 3 weeks ago and it still hasn't arrived from China... *sighs*

For those not living here in the north, 'post' in BabyGamer's post means mail / letter.
Hope you get yours soon!
As we call it in Sweden (and most likely in many part of the world): Snail mail. :@
-
3 more of these arrived on my doorstep in the UK today. I will visit the post office tomorrow to get them all on their way again...
Thanks SRBO! :(y)
-
In the future, since I've seen a lot of US folks here, I don't mind doing the 'send one to all' like Waheyland did for UK folks, if SRBO and others think it'd help.

I received my package today, everything was perfect, thank you very much.
-
Hope this works (first post!!!). If SRBO is still taking orders I'd like to throw my hat in the ring for a copy. Have paypal and am in UK.
-
Hello Guys,
The list for round 3 is open now, If you want the monasteries please PM me, or reply on this post.
greets,
Steven!
-
SRBO - this is truly commendable. You are a hero. Very well done! You deserve much merit for your efforts...
-
I agree. Now, can you do something similar for The Cathers.....
-
I received mine today, in the US. Thank you so much, SRBO!
-
I agree. Now, can you do something similar for The Cathers.....
Cathars is long out of print and difficult to get regardless of where you live. It is Spielbox exclusive and cannot be reprinted by ANY of the other publishers.
-
It was my sarcasm in thanks to SRBO. I got into Carcassonne expansions soon after it became unavailable and remains the one "old" expansion I do not have.
-
I received mine today, in the US. Thank you so much, SRBO!
They arrived in the U.S. already but still not in Switzerland?! That's a travesty! >:(
-
I think there’s something funny about the postage in Switzerland. When I sent out everyone’s post-league goody bags it cost twice as much to send to Switzerland as it did to anywhere else in Europe even though the contents were pretty much the same.
-
I received mine today, in the US. Thank you so much, SRBO!

If you feel relieved, not here in Spain either (also closer tan US XD)
-
I just got a "surprising" in the post! More merit for SRBO.
The cloisters are great. The one I like best is the middle right one with the road leading to the south.
-
Yay!!! My copy arrived in the mail today!! ;D
Looks gooooood! Thank you SRBO!! =^_^= Merit for you! :(y) ^-^
*hugzees*
...now if only my Halloween costume from China would arrive..... :-\
-
My Kloosters arrived this morning. I'd like to say a big thanks to SRBO and Dan for sorting this out for me
-
Thank you SRBO and danisthirty! My copy of De Kloosters arrived this morning too. Thanks for sorting this out guys :)
Maybe, I don't need to acquire the German Monasteries now, maybe.
-
Thanks a lot SRBO for your time and dedication, my copy arrived!! :D
-
Mine arrived today as well :)
Thanks so much SRBO and also danisthirty for the UK distribution!
-
Maybe, I don't need to acquire the German Monasteries now, maybe.
Sounds like you are trying to convince the voice inside you that insists on collecting ALL the things.
-
Im a week off.. and the postoffice is closed..
So there will be a little delay in the 2nd Round. They are all packed and ready to go.. but sadly im unable to send them a.t.m.
greetz
-

Sounds like you are trying to convince the voice inside you that insists on collecting ALL the things.
Exactly, I have a battle going on now to decide if I need Wind Roses II or not. Why does this consume my life? ::)
-
So today I played a game with the Kloosters, Traders & Builders, the Ferries and the phantom. I won each of the three trade goods, had the biggest farm (with pig), completed the biggest city, and generally won every conventional aspect of the game. My opponent drew all six Kloosters, placed an abbott on all six (!), and scored 130+ points with them to win the game by 10 points.
So the moral of the story is that I am not happy with the Kloosters at the moment. >:(

So the moral of the story is that I am not happy with the Kloosters at the moment. >:(
Hehe you get used to it;)
-
I have received my copy. Thank you all involved. They look really cool. Thanks again.
-
I have returned from my church weekend away to find a set of Dutch and Belgian monasteries waiting for me, an ideal end to a great weekend. Thank you SRBO and Danisthirty for all you've done.

Ahahahah

Hello Dear Carcassonnians (carcassonnais),
The monasteries: (free translation)
Rightup
This cloister, positioned near Arnhem on a terp behind the winterdike, was the home of the Dominicans in 1858. In that time it was nothing more than a manor house. It got expanded soon with 2 wings and a chapel.
Cloister Heilig Hart (Steyl, Nederland) (Holy Heart)
Rightmid
Many Germans moved from 1875 to this monastery, because they had to abbandon their homeland, because of the Kulturkampf. Father Arnold Janssen founded a mission house in Steyl, that grown till an impressive monastery clave. There were housed three monastery orders. this is one of them.
Abbey Onze Lieve Vrouw van Nazareth (Brecht, Belgium) (Our Dear Lady of Nazareth)
Leftmid
Founded by the cisterciënzerabbots in 1945, after in 1797 the Abbey Nazareth at Lier was destroyed. In this region, this order is known as the abbey of 'trappistinnekes' (female trappists). The people there deals mainly with the making of candles en such. It also contains a big sewing workshop, where vestments are made.
I've updated it. Can somebody english or american check the grammar on this?

Hello all,
I Want to clear something out:
Each expansion cost €3,00
The whole order then has to be shipped to me, so that will be shared amongst all buyers.
Then comes the package costs and the shipping to your country..
This is a tricky part, because each package has a certain weight. and you pay for the weight. each expansion is 66 gram (in plastic)
All in all this will result in the following costs to international delivery: (this is the final cost)
50-100 gram
1 expansion : € 7,50
100-250
2 expansions : € 13,50
3 expansions : € 18,00
250 and up
4 expansions : € 25,50
5 expansions : € 28,50
I almost make no profit out of it (just a bit for unexpected cost)
I hope you all understand.
Today there are many many new orders, i will wait just i few days more, so i can all buy and send them at once.
greetings
Steven

Thank you :meeple:

The rules are identical to The Monasteries in Germany, but the little history captions about the various monasteries are different. That probably doesn't matter for rules, though.
-
If i have freetime this week i can try to make it. I'm just have a lot to do this week...

- Have you done that? if so, do you have photoshop file too? would be fast then just change the tiles, i don't see reason to do 2 last pages to dutch version.
Or, i just search dutch version rules, and just copy/paste the text...

Hi Hovari.
It was done by wamboyil. I’m not entirely sure how he did it but I’m guessing he either scanned the existing rules document and replaced the text, saving the result as a PDF, or there may be a template somewhere for it. I know there are templates available in the downloads section but I don’t know whether this would be included there.
What are you hoping to achieve? A translation of the history relating to the Dutch/ Belgian monasteries has been made available in English but I can’t place exactly where I saw it. Probably somewhere in the dim and distant history of this thread!
Hope this helps,
Dan

(puts hand into draw bag, pulls out a tile, turns it over...)
:blue-meeple: "Great. Another monastery!"
:green-meeple: "Well done."
:blue-meeple: "You did put the other tiles in right?"
:green-meeple: "Oh. I thought you were going to?"
:blue-meeple: "Never mind. I think I'm winning so let's just carry on..."

It would certainly make for interesting tile placement problems. You want to maximize your rows and columns while minimizing your opponents' rows and columns.

I suggest to try to play base game, treating all tiles as German Monasteries. Indeed it would be interesting game!
Welcome to the forums, by the way, ElvishScout!

When do you plan to send these 35 copies to their new owners? :D I am so excited

Yeah, I found this out the hard way as I just ordered this one (which I already have) instead of the German monasteries - doh! Hopefully my email will get through to them!
-

:(y)
On a serious note, I hope more of these monasteries come out as I've said before (especially France/Spain/Italy). So if/when that happens, it's nice to know that we should be able to get them from Cundco rather than needing a different SRBO for each country, even though we already have quevy for Italy :)

I can confirm that since 3 weeks ago 999games also sells and shippes to germany and france. Ofcourse HiG can get a hold on these very easily
