We will have 5 groups with 3 players each. Everyone must play exactly 2 games (with other players from his group) and it will determine the final rankings.

I don't feel like F1 is going to be easy either...  ;D

In fact, none of the groups seems a walk in the park...or it must be a walk in the dark with some obscure figures in the back.  C:-) >:D

I don't feel like F1 is going to be easy either...  ;D

It is what it is I suppose. There are of course several names that tend to appear in the top group more than others, but the different challenges and strategies that each different expansion introduces means that no two of our expansion league tournaments thus far have been the same and there is always hope for the underdogs!

First game in the final round:

:green-meeple: Hounk vs :violet-meeple: Leven 73:122

About 20 tiles before the end Hounk seemed to be in winning position as he had majority in the main farm and I made a mistake by deploying a farmer to a farm which could not be connected to the main farm. The turning point of the game was when I was able to join two more farmers at the same time by placing my last bridge onto a CFFF tile, and right after that Hounk deployed his last follower onto a road which he thought was already closed by his tile but it wasn't. When he could eventually complete this road and regain the follower it was already too late.

 :green-meeple: TheSteveAllen vs  :yellow-meeple: Adrornalin 107:115

Very cool game, thanks again Steve. In the end it was all about the farm, containing every finished city. I could conquer most of the desirable spots to place a farmer. But his amount of points approached dangerously close. I had to try to share the big city in the west, even with my last meeple, to secure the win.

Two strange situations appeared during the game. The first one I was not clear about the rules: I finished my cloister with Steves castle on one of the 9 tiles around the cloister. I thought, he also will receive the points for the cloister. But apparently the cloister itself has to be on one of the 6 tiles around the castle?! Personally I never played it that way.

But the second situation I would call it a bug: As I finished a 6-point-city next to his (the same as written above!) castle, he suddenly received 9 points instead of 6 points. That was very strange. Who can explain?

Greetings to everyone and lets have fun playing Carc

If it's the city which contains a cloister in the middle then Steve scored the 9 points thanks to the cloister not the city.

Yes it was! Now everythings clear. That was simple.. Castles give points for finishing, even without a meeple on it..of course no bug. And when finishing two things at once, the higher points are taken. Thanks Leven.

First game in F2:

Got lucky with the tiles: I got the 3-part city splitter at the right moment to score 40 pts (a city worth 20 pts + castle). Rest of the game I focused on farming and trapping.

In my final game of this tournament I've claimed 7th place.

:yellow-meeple: Merlin_89 vs :violet-meeple: Leven 99:113

The game was eventually decided by farming (as usual in BC&B games): with 8 tiles to go Merlin took the majority on the main farm (worth 31 points) but he ran out of meeple. So for the rest of the game I had the task to join a 3rd farmer there somehow. In the end I was able to do this with my last tile. Lucky me.

A comment to Jéré: this game took place after the game between Hounk and Merlin_89. They will post the result and the screenshot tomorrow.

First, my game against Hounk:

125  :yellow-meeple: Merlin_89 - Hounk  :green-meeple: 107

I'm proud of this game, because Hounk played really good, and he took advantages from double scoring with castles... and I couldn't! Thankfully I did better job with bazaars, and I could maintain solid lead over Hounk throughout the game. As it is with this expansion, all comes to field in the end, we tied it - I won.

Second, Leven.

Game of missed opportunities, and very aggressive maneuvers from Leven. I don't remember anyone, who went so furiously after my meeples in a long time... and it paid off. I tried to pay back, and I had some successes... I was down with meeples, and I knew that I'm gonna be screwed with farmers in the end, so I went proactive and tried to outpace him early there, but he caught up... with his LAST tile, I'd win otherwise. Congrats Leven! But I also think that you're overusing time in later parts of the game, I think it's not necessarily fair to take long minutes to put one tile... At least that's what I think.

 :red-meeple: Rosco vs :yellow-meeple: Adror 70:87

Good game against Rosco which I could manage to win. But it could have gone either way if Rosco draws the last cccc to finish the city, in which I refused to place also my last meeple on the cfff for a 3-3 tie, to focus more on winning the farm. Furthermore he misplaced a castle and misrotated(?) his last tile to place a farmer, so it was a lucky win for me. The first growing city I gave up soon because building mega cities still ends up always in a loss for me. The bridges I used very soon as well but it was absolutely necessary. Thanks for playing, Rosco.

F2
MrNumbers vs. Jéré
112:84

Very interesting game, which kept in tense both players till the very end. I won thanks to the huge 30-points city and absence of opportunity for Jéré to create a castle nearby. No castle were used in the whole game, but all bridges were :)

My game was a game of stupid mistakes and bad luck.  I would have won if I had placed the 2nd to last tile correctly.
Oh well.
Next league will have to be better.

Sorry to have ruined the sandwich effect of the results so far, but khalid and I played this evening and this was the result:

kq got off to a good start and was leading by about 20 - 30 points very early on. This is pretty much what experience against him had led me to believe would be the case though. Still, I hung on in there and began to claw my way back into the game after a string of bazaars (3 in a row) gave me the opportunity to get some handy tiles and win back a few points.

By the middle of the game I was down to my last few meeples whereas kq had 4 or 5 in hand. I had taken the initiative on the 2 main farms though, so it was up to kq to catch up in this respect. Which he did, and then overtook me on the larger of the 2 farms. However, since everything else was tied this left kq with nothing to play with for the last dozen or so tiles. I used this to my advantage and even though I lost out on what became a 17-point farm I won more than this in the last few tiles just from my advantage of having a meeple left to play with.

I claimed an easy 5 points with my last tile of the game and kq finished by joining a thief of his onto my more valuable road which gave up both a meeple back. But it was too late by this time as this was the final tile of the game.

Thanks to khalid for the game, and for helping me to blow the cobwebs away as it's been a while since I last played with this. I have a feeling kq was in the same boat though, so I guess I just got lucky on this occasions... ;)

Scheduled to be playing thodekey on Thursday.

I played my game with thodekey this evening, a little earlier than planned. Here is the screenshot:

No time for much of a report yet, but it was a very quick game that was split into two distinct halves. Thodekey led in the first half and got himself into a great position with the big city and adjacent castle and cloister. However, neither the city nor the cloister got completed (thanks to bad luck on his part/ good luck on mine, and some trapping from me) which meant he had no meeple to spare for most of the second half of the game. I picked up a few points here and there and eventually caught and overtook him. I tied the farm with him too, but rather than try to win it outright I kept a meeple in my supply and continued to use it well.

Thanks for the game thodekey! Good luck in your match against kahlidqasrawi...

Congrats Dan in winning the BCB-league!

The tiles didn't came as I wanted them to come but you deserved to win: I played bad...you trapped well and I made again the mistake to sacrifice my last meeple...I should know better by now.

Anyway, I'll be looking up to you in the podium ceremonial.  ;)
Just one game to divide places 2 and 3...

Piet_Agoras :red-meeple: - Chooselife  :yellow-meeple: 142 - 114

The first match of the bottom group was exiting. As I was unable to take control of the main farm, I had to calculate that my city's  would score enough. Chooselife tried to trap some of my meeples, but a wrong choise at a bazaar gave me a crucial tile for the liberation of my meeples. Thanks for the game Chooselife !

Thanks MrNumbers, and a big thanks for organising it too! 8) I must say I'm surprised to have won; I was in two minds as to whether or not I'd actually take part when this was announced as I've never been a huge fan of it. I was even less hopeful when I saw the group I started in too! But it has been a fun competition and as always, I've learnt something from each game and have enjoyed the journey very much!

Rosco and I played our final game of the competition tonight and, for once using the BC&B expansion, we did not end up with a battle over one big field. This is the first time that I have seen this. The whole game was very close throughout and it could have gone either way, but the final result was:-

TheSteveAllen  :green-meeple: 127 : Rosco  :red-meeple: 107

I think that I am starting to get the hang of this expansion but, unfortunately, it is a little bit too late.

Thanks again to Rosco for the great battle, which I really enjoyed, and congratulations to Danisthirty for winning the competition.

Last game in F2 group was played.
MrNumbers vs. Jungleboy
103:71

Two big fights happened in this game: for the huge city and for the main farm. I successfully cut off 2 jungleboy's attempts to connect to the city and won the main farm (which wasn't so big in the end though: jungleboy made for himself almost the same worth farm near the end of the game).

Thodekey :blue-meeple: 102 : 135  :red-meeple:  khalidqasrawi

The playoff for 2nd place in the league was a tough one.

Thodekey played for the big points, I played to preserve meeples.  In the end, he spread himself a little thin.

We started with some tricky and precise road and city play.  I was able to scratch together points here and there and managed a good lead early on.  At that point I decided to close down and get my meeples back but was waiting on a CFCF for the 8 point city and the cloister.  It didn't take too long to appear otherwise it could have been a different game.  Meanwhile Thodekey had staked his claim on the farm which I was watching carefully.

At the top of the board, Thodekey was making a big city play and I was in two minds: make it un-completable or compete against it.  At the bottom of the board he was building another big city.  I had to arrange for a castle next to it to share the points.  I don't know if he noticed but I had to bid high for a RRRF to stop him from completing a road and hence getting my meeple off the castle which was my insurance against him finishing the city.  I think I completed that city in the end and we both scored the points.

With about 20 tiles to go I started dumping farmers on the farm.  They all got on quite easily.  I think Thodekey was out of meeples for that period.  By the time he had got them back it was too late and his attempts to glom his farmers on were long shots at best.

It was a good game and a nice end to a great tournament.

Congratulations to danisthirty for winning and a huge thank you to MrNumbers for organising.  It looks like a huge amount of work.

Ladies and Gentlement,

I present to you, your humble servant. The queen of matches, the one and only, the very last, but not in the least, the least!

Chooselife 124 vs DeatzoSeol 117

A very close match, from beginning through the end. It could and should have ended as a much clearer victory for Chooselife if they had joined the two farms together. Since I had no intention and no hope of winning the big farm back (three farmers, oh my), they could have simply stolen my 13 points :-(

Interesting fact: in 3 final groups out of 5 the winner was from Castles 8) Viva la Castles! :)) And the two remaining winners were from Bridges and Bazaars. So, every group has at least one winner :(y)

Congratulations once again to Danisthirty for great achievement and thanks everyone for taking part! I am glad that nobody dropped out midway the competition and we managed to complete the BC&B League in a nearly record time of 2 months! It's a pure pleasure to organize such successful competitions :D

Stay tuned! ;)
