At least now we know what 2018's forgettable promo set is going to be: The "Art" Circles. ;D

My stuff: The Caverns of Carcassonne | Wheel of Fortune versions | True North (wind roses) | Icon facelifts | Converting CII to CI | Signposts & the Château | The Vault | Riverboats & the Whirlpool | trade list

 :)) Ouch! :))

And we'd still buy it if it were true... It would match my experience then!

I can't believe my eyes... (not at the promo, I can believe that).  Why mess with a UNESCO heritage site?

In Postman news, I had the last 2 replacement pieces delivered for my gaming table.  I backed the kickstarter almost 2 years ago and the table is finally 100% awesome.

Why mess with a UNESCO heritage site?

An article I read said that the National Centre for National Monuments actually sought out the guy and asked him to do this. A comment on another article claimed that they paid him something like 10,000 Euros.

Just a complete lack of discernment and good judgement by all parties involved.

If they're celebrating the city's listing as a UNESCO site shouldn't it be kept looking like what it did when it was listed? To me, this just seems counter-intuitive

Another bunch arrived today!

Some old, some new and a really little bonus.

I've been keen on the Clank series and jumped on board a deep sale from an on-line retailer.

Can you spot the fifth super mini item in the photo? ...... Just above the CGE Logo?

I was able happy to get the illusive, new resin 1st player marker for Azul from this on-line retailer. If you haven't followed the drama, new printings of Azul now have a resin 1st player marker where the initial pritings had a cardboard marker. There has been a bit of drama over this little beast and if you were so inclined you could read the good, the bad and the ugly about it here; https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/1955764/new-resin-first-player-token
Franks

Wanna play Carc? Can we add just one more expansion?

Clank is on my shelf of shame at the moment. I'm not convinced by the timing mechanisms. But I love how the deck building provides you plenty of options. Looking forward to getting this one out....sooon!

I like Clank! but have only played the original version rather than the space themed one. Well done for securing the replacement first player tile for Azul, they're rather difficult to get hold of by all accounts. The original one was a bit pants wasn't it. Apparently the promo Joker tiles should be available in about a month, so keep your eyes peeled (and let me know if you see any).

I did get the Joker tiles fairly early on but wanted to get to know the game without using them. I think they are better suited for the 'back side' of the board, which we tried once and went back to the printed side.

Even though we have a few games in now, we need to play more!

I had been using one of those Joker tiles in place of the 1st player marker  ;D

Cheers,

Glad you've managed to get them.

I see they're now taking pre orders for the giant version, but it's rather steep at $299

It's a beauty but thats probably over $400 Canadian funds with shipping, so no chance for that in this household. It would be a neat centre piece for a game store or cafe!

Yeah, tbh I'm glad it's so pricey because it means I've not got a decision to make - it's simply far far too expensive to even consider!

"[...] commissioned to design a piece that would celebrate 20 years of its Unesco status." And what better way to celebrate it than deface it. I'm a town planner working almost exclusively in heritage tier constructs and let me tell you that, at least in the UK, a lot of these local Councils can barely scrape together the funds to keep them in a state of bare minimum upkeep. Cite de Carcassonne would be no exception. Instead of the 10k€ being pledged to some form of maintenance, it gets diverted to funding this * atrocity. By the way, just to amplify injury, this was only ever anticipated to be temporary. Which is how it should be, but what a brutish waste of money...

This "artrocity" is set to come down later in the year; September, 2018.

In that case I'll be delaying my pilgrimage to Carcassonne (I meant to go about twelve years ago while on a Rugby trip to Toulouse, long before I'd heard of the game) until later in the year or 2019!
