Haha, young man Steve,

I wouldn't dare.  I might be inferring that Mr Isthirtyseven (nice age btw, I'm planning on choosing that one next year myself) has a large imagination but I wouldn't dare to go further than that.
I have a World Cup Game planned against Dan this evening, I hope he doesn't use his TimeTravelling skills then... (maybe that's why I keep on loosing against him!)  ;)

Don't worry about your World Cup Game too much as Dan reliably informs me that, after time travelling, he has seen that he is going to come 4th in it again.

That's not what I said at all! I said reading was a popular pastime in the Time Travelling area!

I blame you for sending me that ridiculous book "1000 popular mondegreens for Haiku enthusiasts" for Christmas last year Dan. I knew that nothing good would come of it.

You managed to save yourself out of that situation with this explanation, Dan. The(old?)SteveAllen buys it.

Luckily, I'm just thinking this out loud instead of posting this in this thread.  :o

Thomas, I do hope that you are not inferring that my good friend Mr Isthirty is being in any way economical with the truth on this. If he says that he was time travelling, then I believe that he was time travelling. I have heard that it is a popular pastime in the Reading area.  :))

Dan, I have received a present but, it would appear, you have managed to somehow mix up the addresses.

There's a slim chance I put that on the address label owing to an unfortunate time travelling mishap where I saw a photo of you from 200 years in the future and mistakenly mistook you for someone who looked like they might be headings towards (at some point in the distant future) getting on (a bit).

Ah, that's ok then. I knew that there would be a simple, logical explanation for it.  ::)

I have received a parcel for someone called OldSteveAllen at my address. Obviously this can't be for me, owing to my youthful good looks and boyish charm!

Could you therefore PM me with this person's address so that I can forward it on to them before Christmas?

 :)) >:D

I hope that they get it to work properly on the High Sierra OS too. At the moment the graphic are shot to pieces and placing meeples in the correct location is done by crossing your fingers. :(

Robert, this is a real shot in the dark, but I have had strange things happen when plugins have been activated, especially the catapult tiles. It probably has nothing to do with your problem, but I suggest that you check that only the classic tiles are enabled and try again. At least it will eliminate another possibility even if there is no improvement.

Good luck!

Sorry Adrornalin, but I have visitors today. Are you going to be available during the evenings this week?

Unofficial Rules / Re: Rules for kids
« on: December 06, 2017, 04:50:26 PM »
Both my daughters have been playing  Carcassonne from 4-5 years. And we always play WITH fields because theirs absent leads to loss of strategic concept (it is already small even with standard rules) of the game and increasing of random one. A convenient way to minimize the difference in the playing skills is a handicap. We began from a handicap of 30-40 points and diminish it on 2-5 points when kid wins and increase if she doesn’t.
Now my elder daughter (12 years) has a handicap in front of me of 3-7 points, younger daughter (7 years)  -  8-12 points (and everyone has additional 5 point in front of father/husband). Both are actively deploy meeples on fields (or its analogues in spin-offs)  and make meeples trapping. So our games are very competitive and everyone try to use all (legal) ways in order  to win.

What an excellent idea! Have you tried the same 'handicap' idea with introducing new players, or only the children? I am trying to entice friends and family to play, but I see no point in me playing if I don't try too hard and avoid blocking, which is the main tactic of the game in my opinion. This seems like it might encourage new players and make it a suitable challenge for regular players at the same time.

Did anyone ever find out about Alpine Tundra? It would appear that this is nothing to do with JPutt, and I would like to find out more about it.

World Cup of Carcassonne Central / Re: 2017 World Cup - Group A

I'm available on Friday, Saturdax and Sunday evening, presumably from 9pm CET.

I should be around on Saturday evening, but I might have visitors this close to Christmas. If you drop in on Slack and leave a message, I usually get back to you quite quickly.

Adror, I can try to make it, but we are very busy at work at the moment. I might be more comfortable with 9 o'clock but, failing that, I will play you any evening next week, which gives us more time to practice.  :D

Farin, when using the Tower expansion, the history bar shows the colour of meeple that did the capturing, and not the colour that has been taken. A bug, I believe.

Thanks Farin. I have tried it out twice now, and it appears to be fixed. Good work - again!
