Seems Cundco Dropped Expansion 8 on us silently as well, at least now with the expansion it makes sense to place an order :)

Up until now HiG has always been extremely open with people using their IP.
They invented the meeple-shape and allow many other games to use it, even when no permission has been sought.

There have been some events recently which have challenged their generosity.

The Epic Game I mentioned above but also: Meeple Source's recent Kickstarter to produce Carcassonne Meeples.
I think that could easily be seen as a loss of earnings.

I hope that HiG are trademarking meeple so they can protect it; rather than stopping another organisation owning a patent or other legal paper that could be detrimental.

Makes sense what you are saying, but my opinion on the carcassonne meeples that meeplesource are making might differ slightly.
I am actually excited to purchase the minis that are coming out via cundco just to be able to play with the witch and mage meeples ive pre-ordered via meeplesource kickstarter project.

Does this not then add onto Cundco profits as they were never going to produce these custom meeple?

I do agree with you on the epic game situation, as protecting it is a totally different story. but we will back HiG as Super Carc Fans!! ^-^

Why does HiG even bother with trademarking a term so widely used? Financially doesnt make sense?
Will they be requesting royalties from every supplier/boardgame maker around the world using the word Meeple Now?

They should focus more on new game material for Carcassonne :)) feels as if the new minis and expansion 8&9 are taking forever

On a lesser note Decar we should kickstart the project to get our horse meeple 'Horple' Trademarked ::)

The Marketplace / Re: Cloth tokens wanted

I followed your lead but made an adjustment and added some additional thingies:

Cloth (Red Cloth): https://www.spielematerial.de/en/square-15-6.html
Sheep for Hills & Sheep (Sheep): https://www.spielematerial.de/en/sheep-10936.html
Castles for Bridges, Castles and Bazaars (Wooden Castle): https://www.spielematerial.de/en/castles.html
Easter Bunny for Der Osterhase (White Rabbit): https://www.spielematerial.de/en/hase.html

In regards to the sheep, I would still use the cardboard tokens in the bag to draw from, but put the resulting wooden sheep on the tile. I'm doubtful if the castles will be a good fit, but I wanted to give that a try. The Easter bunny speaks for itself I think...

Hi Oozie

Thanks for additions, i also have the sheep and castles from spielmaterial already, love adding wooden bits to the game. we also use the tokens in a bag and just add the wood sheep to the board. For the castles I purchased 3 of each colour for each player, so depending on size of the game we will play with either 2 or 3 castles per player.

The only reason i never got the red cloth was due to the fact that it was not available at the time of purchase, i did purchase the wood stacks, but they are so large and just dont look good in gameplay , thus the orange sticks:) for forests.

Cheerse Gin :blue-meeple:

Hi Mars,

You can also get a set from ebay now and then(Gameshelf), but I would suggest to switch over to wooden resource bits, its made replacing pieces so much easier and just looks great in the game. they can be purchased from Spielmaterial at a very low price. ive added a list of the tokens I us, enjoy.

Regards, Gin

Base Game + 11 Expansions @ 51 Euro is actually not bad at all and its a nice setup for people new to CARC, will definitely be advising alot of my friends to get the big box, i just hope that the minis will be made availible seperately in September as well so that I am not forced to buy bigbox just to get my hands on them..... not very patient. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Hi GinCarc,

Abbey and Mayor is already available as a drop-down option. I haven't added Count, King and Robber as I haven't seen it yet, but I'm sure I can add it no problem.

Hi Dan

The Count,King and Robber was released about a month and a half ago, already received my copy really a great looking expansion, better than I thought it would be. and maybe adding the new version 15th Anniversary tiles would be great too.

Official Rules / Re: Scoring Question
« on: May 06, 2017, 03:54:28 AM »
This should put all questions to rest. Official rules from the English booklet by Z-man Games:

Quote
"Your builder is always returned to your supply if you no longer have meeples on that feature.
This usually occurs after scoring, but some expansions introduce other ways in which this can happen."

This is for the new art version but the consensus is to always use the latest rules.

Great thanks Paul!

Official Rules / Re: Scoring Question
« on: May 05, 2017, 11:27:28 PM »
Later the rules stated that a builder is not a follower. It still is affected by the dragon and plague, but not by the festival or the WoF plague.
It also worth mentioning, that builder can be removed by the festival tile:
Code: [Select]
return one of one’s own figures from the entire playing area to his or her supply. And footnote 372:
Code: [Select]
All of one’s own figures are meant here, including normal and big followers, wagon, mayor, builder, pig, and barn.

I think all off us at least agree the builder can be removed, the question was that when you remove your follower if your builder also gets removed. i think the rules related to the Farmer and pig give us some clarity on what HiG were thinking. so it comes down to the type of game one plays, if you see the builder as a follower then he remains on the city when the knight is removed but if you dont see the builder as a follower then he will automatically get removed by removing the follower/Knight.

My only though about the rule where your builder stays in a city after your meeple is removed, does this not stand in direct opposition to the placement rule that states a builder can only be placed in a city one owns? if so surely the builder cannot stay in a city one no longer occupies?

General / Re: Best functioning combinations of Expansions
« on: May 05, 2017, 11:17:53 PM »
So Friday nights my wife and I usually play our favorite board game carcassonne but we usually do a Mega Car with about 250 Tiles. and we use all the tiles we have from all our expansions:

Base game
Inns and Cathedrals
Traders and Builders
Princess and the Dragon
The Tower
Abbey and Mayor
Japanese Temples
The Labyrinth
Watchtowers
The Festival

And we include some off the features in our old art boxes as the new art boxes have not been released:

Bridges,Castles and Bazaars
Hills and Sheep

But that said we have found that we use a certain set of base rules from certain expansions that work well for us below the rules we use from each expansion that work well and dont over complicate the game for us:

Base game -All the Rules Including starting with the River 1 and using Abbots.
Inns and Cathedrals-All the Rules
Traders and Builders-All the Rules including Pig and custom resource tokens:)
Princess and the Dragon-All the Rules
The Tower-NOTHING only the tiles
Abbey and Mayor-All the Rules including the Barn and Mayor but we use the cart as a regular follower
Japanese Temples-All the Rules
The Labyrinth- Custom 2 point rule per tile with no points if not completed at the end(Same as inns)
Watchtowers-All the Rules haha when we remember but this mechanic actually doesn't work well
The Festival - removal removal removal :)
Bridges,Castles and Bazaars- All Rules but we stay far away from the Bazaars! (Bridges original, castles subbed with custom castle figures)
Hills and Sheep- Only the shepherd, we exclude the hills and vineyards

Our game currently consist out of 243 tiles as some sets are double, and take 2 players around 3 hours to play, each player normally scoring between 400-600 points at the end.

My manege Frei and King, count and robber are on their way will post in a week or two a new version mega carc with those expansions included.

Manege Frei- Horrible game but we will use the tiles and I cannot leave my collection semi complete and use the additional follower
King count and robber- when we play our old art version we usually include, king and robber but not the count rule.

but when we include the expansion 6 we usually do this in games with 4-11 players and we start with the City or carcassonne tiles as a cool starting base and then river 1 and river 2 to start the game, count generally stands in the middle of the map looking cool:)

Cheers
Gin
