Now I do understand what much work it was before you go to New Zealand.
That is a lot of weight all these games and the expansions...

Carcassonne - the Besiegers: I will send it to your new home...

Hi, I'm interested to learn more about how you managed to bring all this. How many boxes did you have? How? (Moving company, post or in the same plane as luggage?) ...and was it expensive?

I'm asking because the project I'm working on in Holland is completed and I'm going to apply for a job in Wellington. It's very likely they will hire me because what I do is very specialised and I know they are desperate to find someone.

Thanks!

Yay! I got a box made for it and everything.

Yeah, our luggage weighed 350lbs (160kgs) altogether (5 suitcases, 1 box, 2 carryons, and 2 personal items) and we were fortunate that we had people on both ends that could help us haul it, though we did have to cart it through Auckland airport between the International and Domestic terminals. All the games fit in a single suitcase thanks to a lot of cramming (inserts gone, expansions merged together, instructions tossed out and replaced with digital version on my iPad, anything to save weight).

Jéré, the luggage cost 390USD total, which in hindsight may have been too much money. But costs are ridiculously high here, so perhaps not. Everything is expensive except domestic goods like dairy items, but even that's higher than I feel it should be. Shipping stuff here is equally expensive but Amazon.com (the US version) has reasonable rates for new items from the US, though I'm not certain what they charge for games. Check out http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=596188 for more details on international shipping through them. Games purchased domestically here are at least twice retail price (even from NZ online stores) and even more after shipping is added.

That is a good collection of games. There are plenty of groups and individuals around the country with those games so you will not need to take them all when exploring. If buying games from overseas watch out for the total cost and that you do not get charged duty. Jere, good luck for getting the job. I believe there is quite a strong gaming community in Wellington.

Too bad that Flash Point got left behind, but with all the expansions it is among the heaviest games in my collection so not entirely surprising.
